Cloud computing, as a cutting-edge computing paradigm, offers substantial data processing and storage capabilities. In a heterogeneous cloud environment, the diversity among cloud platforms results in varying task execution times, posing challenges in minimizing workflow makespan under budget constraints. On this basis, a novel meta-heuristic optimization algorithm, named snake optimizer (SO), is proposed for workflow scheduling in the cloud. Then, a negative offset mechanism is designed to dynamically guide the offset of individual positions during population update to prevent falling into local optimums, thereby optimizing the search for feasible solutions and improving the success rate. Finally, using the negative offset mechanism, a snake optimization budget-aware scheduling algorithm (NO-SO) is developed to schedule budget-constrained workflows in heterogeneous cloud computing environments and minimize the makespan. A series of comparative experiments conducted on real-world scientific workflows demonstrates that the NO-SO algorithm enhances the success rate in finding a feasible solution by 38.89% and 34.45% compared with the advanced MG-PRO algorithm and the original SO algorithm, respectively. Moreover, it achieves an average reduction in makespan of 30.30% and 32.19%. © 2024 IEEE.

Battery models play a crucial role in battery management systems, describing the inner workings of batteries. However, offline models cannot adapt to the battery parameter degradation. To address this issue, a physics-informed integrated battery model combines equivalent electrical circuits and a neural network regression model is proposed. Electrical circuits capture essential battery electricity behaviors while a regression model with the recurrent neural network is employed to simulate the nonlinear open circuit voltage (OCV). The regression model is trained using unlabeled learning and the parameters of the electrical circuit are identified online. Finally, the proposed battery model is validated with a cubature Kalman filter. Extensive experiments confirmed that the proposed modeling method outperforms other methods with Less than 1.66% RMSE in SOC estimation. © 2023 IEEE.

Blockchain can be envisioned as an enabling framework in terms of cryptography and distributed computing to construct trusted data records among un-trusted users. It can be applied in two typical scenarios - historical process provenance and transaction tracing, by immutably sequentialized blocks. In the former there exists no tokens;but in the latter token handover among accounts should be cryptographically guaranteed. In some situations, above two applications may be both required. E.g., in the manufacture of a jewel, processing flow by different operators should be recorded for quality guaranteeing, and in its trading stage, the ownership handover should be recorded for value confirmation. To tackle above two requirements, two chains are usually thus demanded. In this paper, we propose a single chain solution to avoid cross-chain burden, by a hybrid block structure. The process data can be imported from the legacy (non-anonymous) information processing system, and transaction data stems from anonymous payment demand for ownership handover. We formally describe and prove token handover model with cryptographical authenticity. We also propose several security enhancements in the design for shortening the length of the chain, and protecting the data confidentiality in the chain. Our design is general and not limited to single application. The experimental results and extensive analysis justified that the performance and security of our proposed scheme is efficient. © 2024 IEEE.

With the development of the mobile Internet, supporting multi-user has become a popular concern for Internet-based algorithms. In this paper, an efficient watermark embedding framework is proposed to achieve secure outsourced image watermarking in multi-user settings. In addition, an authentication mechanism for authorized users is designed to ensure the security and correctness of the information. The proposed method enables watermarking operations in complex outsourced environments while embedding watermarks in encrypted images of multiple users. The experimental results show that the framework is feasible and scalable. © 2022 IEEE.

Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) has both continuous process and discrete operation in the application of traffic CPS. Therefore, based on the extended model theory, this paper introduces hierarchical model, colored set and timed attribute on the basis of prototype Petri Net, and proposes a Hierarchy Colored Timed Petri Net (HCTPN) model. In order to verify the usability of the proposed model, we modeled the vehicle and road units of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), and simulated the scene of multiple passengers boarding. The final experiment showed that the proposed improved model could solve the safety problem of passengers boarding and alighting. © 2022 IEEE.

In heterogeneous redundant architecture devices, programs with equivalent functions are implemented on heterogeneous executers, and the scheduler needs to compare their outputs to identify abnormality and decide the final output. Due to slight differences in the scheduling order of threads among different executers, the outputs of programs are likely to be different, which will have a significant impact on the arbitration of the scheduler, causing false error report and affecting the normal processing. We propose an application-level state synchronization method model to effectively mitigate the problem of program state synchronization of multiple heterogeneous executers. And we implemented a hardware-software codesign of the method in a DHRA switch and tested its effectiveness and latency. Tests show that the method is effective with latency within several milliseconds. © 2023 IEEE.

Federated learning has been introduced into network intrusion detection to address the data silos among intrusion detection systems in distributed environments. However, existing federated learning-based methods suffer from the problem of class-imbalanced traffic. Inspired by the Bayes theorem, we propose an adaptive cost weight-enabled federated distillation method for distributed network intrusion detection. The proposed method comprises a federated distillation module and a cost-sensitive module. The federated distillation module combines knowledge distillation and federated learning to establish a distributed intrusion detection system, ensuring data privacy while reducing the interaction overhead. The cost-sensitive module optimizes the federated distillation module by calculating posterior probabilities using prior probabilities and real-time observations from the client training process. By adjusting the model's attention to different samples based on the posterior probabilities, the method enhances the detection accuracy of intrusion detection models for classes with few samples. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves state-of-the-art performance on the NSL-KDD dataset, with accuracy improvements of 5.6% and 3.6% compared to the FedAvg and FedProx algorithms, respectively. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent years, the rapid development and widespread applications of non-overlapping community discovery have led to a growing issue of privacy leakage. The core of this problem lies in the community discovery algorithms themselves. Researchers have shifted their focus toward developing community hiding algorithms. However, existing non-overlapping community hiding algorithms have mainly been studied in static networks, overlooking the prevalence of dynamic networks in real life. In this paper, we introduce a community hiding algorithm called LALH, which employs the link prediction likelihood analysis method. The algorithm consists of two parts: first, the OLPL algorithm calculates a list of link probabilities in the subsequent time scale of the network, allowing observation of important link distribution. Second, the LALH algorithm selects these crucial links for the community hiding operation. We validate the effectiveness of the LALH algorithm through experiments on three public datasets and a real Twitter dataset. © 2024 IEEE.

Edge caching is a promising technique for effectively reducing backhaul pressure and content access latency in the Internet of Vehicles (IoV). However, the high mobility of vehicles and dynamic user requests often lead to outdated cached content. Expired cache wastes the limited storage space and transmission in vehicular edge computing. Improving the cache hit rate is an effective approach to address these issues. In this work, we propose a Cooperative Active Caching Strategy (CACS) which works as follows. First, user preferences are analyzed from the historical content data of vehicle users. After that, multiple vehicles cooperate to learn the global model under an asynchronous federated learning framework, and get the content popularity from user preferences and content features. To explore the problem of local models being outdated in asynchronous federated learning, CACS integrates model compression algorithms, enhancing system efficiency and prediction accuracy. Finally, a heuristic cooperative caching content placement algorithm is proposed based on a greedy policy to minimize average access latency. Simulation results show that the CACS can improve the cache hit rate by 15% at most compared to existing state-of-the-art caching strategies. © 2024 IEEE.

business process management is the end-to-end business process modeling, analysis, and optimization to achieve business goals. business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) is usually used to represent business process models. However, BPMN cannot support the intuitive modeling for some typical tasks in complex business scenarios of the Industrial Internet context, increasing the communication cost between modelers and business personnel. The current solutions try to extend the attributes of BPMN elements with annotations, but a large number of annotations makes business process models complex and cumbersome. This paper proposes to extend new business process modeling elements for Industrial Internet application scenarios based on BPMN extension mechanism, generating an extended business process modeling language, namely BPMN++. And an extended process modeling tool is implemented, which is available online. A case study over a real-world Industrial Internet process validates the usefulness of this extension mechanism and the well understandability of business process models. © 2022 IEEE.
