Enterprise modeling (EM) is a discipline supporting business and IT alignment by providing means for capturing, visualizing and improving different perspectives of an enterprise, including processes, organization structures, products, systems, and business objectives. However, there is a lot of relevant information besides the one presented in enterprise models. Including such information into enterprise models or an integrated presentation of model anddata view is supposed to ease decision making for stakeholders in organizations by providing contextual information for the decision at hand. Additional information however usually means additional complexity. This paper explores possibilities of an integrated presentation guided by the following questions: (1) What kind of complementary information should be visualized in an enterprise model? (2) How can the information be visualized? (3) How can the content of a specific visualization be adapted by the business stakeholder using it? Possibilities and benefits of enhancing the existing enterprise models with visualization of additional information are illustrated using a small case study.

We present a method for automatically creating compact and accurate 3d city models needed for enhanced Augmented Reality applications. The input data are panorama images and LIdAR scans collected at street level and positioned using an IMU and a GPS. Our method corrects for the GPS error and the IMU drift to produce a globally consistent and well registereddataset for the whole city. We use structure from motion and skyline detection to complement the limited range of LIdAR data. Additionally, we propose a novel reconstruction technique that exploits architectural properties of urban environments to create an accurate 3d city model from incomplete data. Our method is able to process an entire city, or several terabytes of data, in a matter of days. We show that our reconstruction achieves higher accuracy than a commercial solution.

We present a low-cost navigation system that integrates 3ddata in realtime, allowing exploration and mapping of complex terrain and GPS-denied regions with an inexpensive sensor package. Precise integration of 3ddata from sensors on a moving platform requires accurate bearing and position estimates, delivered at high frequency. This bar has only been met using expensive, high-end IMUs and/or differential GPS systems - by contrast, our sensor package includes only a low-cost MEMS IMU. We use multi-camera visual odometry to obtain locally accurate position and orientation for integration of sequential scans from a 3d sensor. These intermediate point clouds accumulate in a custom database which features spatial caching and binary serialization for efficient querying and logarithmic retrieval times. Realtime alignment of overlapping 3d point clouds is used to correct drift. The system was tested using a mobile robot and used to map complex indoor and outdoor environments.

Bioinformatics research in general and the exploration of metabolic networks in particular rely on processingdata from different sources. visualization in this context supports the exploration process and helps to evaluate the data quality of the used sources. In this work, we extend our existing metabolic network visualization toolbox and hereby address the fundamental task of comparing metabolic networks from two major bioinformatics resources for the purpose of data validation and verification. This is done on different levels of granularity by providing an overview on retrieval rates of chemical compounds and reactions per pathway on the one hand, as well as giving a detailed insight into the differences in the biochemical reaction networks on the other.

In this paper, we describe our incremental large scale 3d reconstruction approach. The input for the algorithm is a set of overlapping sub-models, reconstructed from smaller sets of calibrated images. The output of the algorithm is a set of transformation matrices, that are used to bring sub-models to the common coordinate system. All sub-models transformed by their corresponding matrices form a single large model in a global coordinate system. The interesting property of the proposed approach is the possibility of in- cremental construction of the final composite model. The data collection, camera calibration, and computation 3d of sub-models can be performed independently by many users. Furthermore, adding new sub-models can improve overall reconstruction quality.

Synchronisation is an essential requirement for multiview 3d reconstruction of dynamic scenes. However, the use of Hd cameras and large set-ups put a considerable stress on hardware and cause frame drops, which is usually detected by manually verifying very large amounts of data. This paper improves [9], and extends it with frame-drop detection capability. In order to spot frame-drop events, the algorithm fits a broken line to the frame index correspondences for each camera pair, and then fuses the pair wise drop hypotheses into a consistent, absolute frame-drop estimate. The success and the practical utility of the the improved pipeline is demonstrated through a number of experiments, including 3d reconstruction and free-viewpoint video rendering tasks.

Falls on the stairs are a common cause of accidental injury among the older adults. Understanding the mechanisms leading to such accidents may improve not only the prevention of falls, but also support independent living among elderly. Thus, a method to automatically detect falls and other abnormal events on stairs is presented and empirically validated. Automatic fall detection will also assist in data collection for environmental design improvements and fall prevention. Real-time 3d joint tracking information, provided by a Microsoft Kinect, is used to estimate the walking speed and to extract a set of features that encode human motion during stairway descent. Supervised learning algorithms, trained on manually labelled training data simulated in a home laboratory, obtained a high detection accuracy rate of ~92% in leave-one-subject-out cross validation. In contrast with previous research, which identified visual tracking of the feet as the best indicator of dangerous activity, 3d motion of the hips is experimentally shown to be the most informative component in detecting abnormal events in the 3d tracking data provided by the Kinect.

How to describe 3d moving objects motion model of good adaptability, how to present and store moving objects data in database and realize the self-adaptive dynamic visualization of 3d moving objects with positioning and communication information, are the key problems on data organization and management of 3d moving objects. The information about 3d moving objects are references with the location and time, including the real time geographic information. This paper proposes a new method of multi-scale data organization and management of 3d moving objects based on GIS. The 3d-terrain is rendered with triangle subdivision bi-tree data structure and LOd, which are easy to realize the rapidvisualization for 3d moving objects. The experiments show that the propose method is suitable to 3d moving objects in large-scale complex virtual environments.
