The majority of mainstream programming languages support parallel computing via extended libraries that require restructuring of sequential code. Library-based features are portable, but tend to be verbose and usually reduce the understandability and modifiability of code. On the contrary, approaches with language constructs promote simple code structures, hide the complexity of parallelization and avoid boilerplate code. However, language constructs normally impose additional development concepts and compilation requirements that may sacrifice the ease-of-use and portability. Therefore, frameworks that offer simple and intuitive concepts and constructs that are recognized by the standard compilers of a language can gain priority over other approaches. In this paper we discuss @PT (Annotation parallel Task), a parallel programming framework that proposes Java annotations, standard Java components, as its language constructs. @PT takes an intuitive object-oriented approach on asynchronous execution of tasks, and has a special focus on GUI-responsive applications. This paper presents the annotation-based programming interface of the framework and its fundamental parallelization concepts. Furthermore, it studies @PT in different parallel programming patterns, and evaluates its efficiency by comparing @PT with other Java parallelization approaches in a set of standard benchmarks.

In recent year, many enterprise put a great deal to construct their business to business solution to increase the strength of their supply chain, only companies that can manage cloud computing ecommerce will survives in the global competition. The goal of this paper is to present an integrated cloud computing architecture and a case study highlighting the best practices for developing Cloud computing system to in shoemaking industry. We developed an electronic purchase order web base system for a shoemaking company with four business units which located in Taiwan, China, Vietnam, and Indonesia. The research method of our work is based on applying Rational Unified Process and ICAM DEFinition Model (IDEF). We use scenario with Use case and IDEF model to represent the user requirements, and object oriented technology to construct this system. We also derive critical key performance indexes (KPI) to evaluate the benefits as enterprise adopting proposed architecture. The result of the case study shows that this architecture and methodology could enable a reduction in the process time of transactions, reduced processing cost, improved accuracy, efficiency, reliability and security.

In cloud computing, a data owner outsources a huge dataset to cloud servers, and authorizes many clients to retrieve data of interest anytime and anywhere. Data outsourcing is helpful to lessen the burden on local data storage and also to improve quality of services. However, the cloud service provider (CSP) outside the data owner's trusted domain may return wrong query results to the client deliberately or inadvertently. Therefore, query authentication and query correction are of crucial importance to achieve reliable cloud services. In this paper, we consider a flow-oriented cloud environment, where query results will be transmitted in the form of data flow to the clients via networks. Specifically, we propose a two-phase query (TPQ) protocol to support efficient authentication and correction of multi-dimensional range queries. By ingeniously integrating signature chain with Reed Solomon codes, our proposed protocol allows a client to efficiently verify the correctness of query results while performing error correction in an adaptive way. Extensive experiments on a real dataset demonstrate effectiveness of our proposed protocol.

The work provides an algorithmic model of sound propagation in rooms with respect to the principles of the object-oriented programming paradigm, i.e. in terms of classes, their instances and relations in order to model the behavior of acoustical fields developed to support various sets of input parameters specifying radiation and propagation of acoustical waves. The approach supports several forms of computational parallelism which allowed achieving scalable performance of the implementation in terms of both time consumptions and accuracy of the results as described in the paper.

The InSAR Scientific computing environment (ISCE) was first developed under the NASA Advanced Information Systems Technology as a flexible, extensible object-oriented framework for Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) processing. The ISCE framework uses Python 3 at the workflow level, controlling modules of compiled code for functional processing, and managing inputs, outputs, and other flow control services. The currently released version, called ISCE 2.1, is distributed to the research community through the Western North America InSAR Consortium under a research license. The ISCE team is working on the next generation of the code in order to prepare for the NASA-ISRO SAR (NISAR) mission operational processing. Innovations in this code include augmentation or conversion of the custom Python framework elements in ISCE with the Pyre framework, new workflows for interferometric and polarimetric stack processing, a more intuitive and graphically based user interface, and flow control for hybrid computing environments including CPU/GPU clusters, logging and error tracking facilities, and new more efficient computational modules that exploit graphical processor units (GPUs) when available. The ISCE 3.0 framework is designed to work in an operational environment as well as on a single user's laptop or compute cluster, with services to discover capabilities and scale computations accordingly.

Cloud computing and virtualization technologies play important roles in modern service-oriented computing paradigm. More conventional services are being migrated to virtualized computing environments to achieve flexible deployment and high availability. We introduce a schedule algorithm based on fuzzy inference system (FIS), for global container resource allocation by evaluating nodes' statuses using FIS. We present the approaches to build containerized test environment and validates the effectiveness of the resource allocation policies by running sample use cases. Experiment results show that the presented infrastructure and schema derive optimal resource configurations and significantly improves the performance of the cluster.

Complex situations and systems can be studied by using adequate models in simulation. An important aspect of models and the simulation software is the ability to use a wide range of possible input parameters. The simulation described in this paper is based on agile manufacturing by using transport robots and cheap reconfigurable production platforms, called equiplets. This setup makes agile manufacturing of different products in parallel possible. The simulation showed the maximum load of such a production environment as well as a proof of concept for the distributed approach for transport used.

Computational scientists often prototype software using productivity languages that offer highlevel programming abstractions. When higher performance is needed, they are obliged to rewrite their code in a lower-level efficiency language. Different solutions have been proposed to address this trade-off between productivity and efficiency. One promising approach is to create embedded domain-specific languages that sacrifice generality for productivity and performance, but practical experience with DSLs points to some road blocks preventing widespread adoption. This paper proposes a non-invasive domain-specific language that makes as few visible changes to the host programming model as possible. We present parallelAccelerator, a library and compiler for highlevel, high-performance scientific computing in Julia. parallelAccelerator's programming model is aligned with existing Julia programming idioms. Our compiler exposes the implicit parallelism in high-level array-style programs and compiles them to fast, parallel native code. Programs can also run in "library-only" mode, letting users benefit from the full Julia environment and libraries. Our results show encouraging performance improvements with very few changes to source code required. In particular, few to no additional type annotations are necessary.

Uncertainty is a great challenge for environment perception of autonomous robots. For instance, while building semantic maps (i.e., maps with semantic labels such as object names), the robot may encounter unexpected objects of which it has no knowledge. It will lead to inevitable failures in traditional environment modeling software. The abundant knowledge being accumulated on the Internet has the potential to assist robots to handle such kind of uncertainty. However, existing researches have not touched this issue yet. This paper proposes a cloud-based semantic mapping engine named SemaCloud, which can not only augment robot's environment modeling capability by the rich cloud resources but also cope with uncertainty by utilizing the Internet knowledge on necessary. It adopts a state-of-art Deep Neural Network (DNN) for real-time and accurate recognition of pre-trained objects. If an object is beyond the knowledge of this DNN, a special mechanism named QoS-aware cloud phase transition is triggered to seek help from existing recognition services on the Internet. By a set of carefullydesigned algorithms, it can maximize benefits and minimize the negative impacts on the Quality of Service (QoS) properties of robotic applications, which is essential to many robot scenarios. The experiments on both open datasets and real robots show that our work can handle uncertainty successfully in robotic semantic mapping without sacrificing critical real-time constraints. © 2017 Association for computing Machinery.
