Deterministic concurrency control (DCC) can guarantee consistent execution results with the same input transactions, which can reduce the synchronization overhead when applied to a multi-replica distributed database. To achieve determinism, early DCC protocols require priori knowledge about execution details of transactions, such as read/write sets, for prescheduling. State-of-the-art DCC protocols like Aria and FGA address this impractical limitation. However, they struggle with performance degradation due to high abort rate under skewed and write-intensive workloads. In this paper, we present Dmucca, a practical DCC protocol that maintains ideal performance across varying transaction workloads without requiring any priori knowledge about them. Dmucca utilizes re-execution strategy to commit nearly all transactions after their second execution. To reduce the cost of re-execution, Dmucca incorporates a multiversion cache, inter-batch pipeline parallel processing, as well as a novel reordering schema based on weight prediction. Finally we evaluate Dmucca as well as other state-of-the-art DCC protocols with the two popular benchmarks, YCSB and TPC-C. And the experimental results show that Dmucca has the optimal performance in most scenarios.

Multiple power modules are interfaced in parallel via laminated busbar in high-capacity active neutral-point clamped (ANPC) converters. Consequently, the complex mutual coupling among parallel branches profoundly affects their equivalent stray inductance. This study analyzes mutual coupling between parallel branches on the same plane of the busbar and how it affects the equivalent stray inductance, which has not been thoroughly reported. A mutual inductance experimental extraction method is proposed and a mathematical model of stray inductance is established. Then, using the proposed method, stray inductance and mutual inductance of two parallel branches for an ANPC busbar are calculated. Experimental tests verify the accuracy of the proposed method.

Benefiting from the cutting-edge supercomputers that support extremely large-scale scientific simulations, climate research has advanced significantly over the past decades. However, new critical challenges have arisen regarding efficiently storing and transferring large-scale climate data among distributed repositories and databases for post hoc analysis. In this paper, we develop CliZ, an efficient online error-controlled lossy compression method with optimized data prediction and encoding methods for climate datasets across various climate models. On the one hand, we explored how to take advantage of particular properties of the climate datasets (such as mask-map information, dimension permutation/fusion, and data periodicity pattern) to improve the data prediction accuracy. On the other hand, CliZ features a novel multi-Huffman encoding method, which can significantly improve the encoding efficiency. Therefore significantly improving compression ratios. We evaluated CliZ versus many other state-of-the-art error-controlled lossy compressors (including SZ3, ZFP, SPERR, and QoZ) based on multiple real-world climate datasets with different models. Experiments show that CliZ outperforms the second-best compressor (SZ3, SPERR, or QoZ1.1) on climate datasets by 20%-200% in compression ratio. CliZ can significantly reduce the data transfer cost between the two remote Globus endpoints by 32%-38%.

With over 79 million people forcibly displaced, forced human migration becomes a common issue in the modern world and a serious challenge for the global community. The Flee is a validated agent-based social simulation framework for forecasting the population displacements in the armed conflict settings. In this paper, we present two schemes to parallelize Flee, analyze computational complexity of those schemes, and outline results for benchmarks of our parallel codes with the real-world and synthetic scenarios on four state-of-the-art systems including a new European pre-exascale system, Hawk. On all testbeds, we evidenced high scalability of our codes. It exceeds more than 16,384 cores in our largest benchmark with 100 million agents on Hawk. parallelization schemes discussed in this work, can be extrapolated to a wide range of ABSS applications with frequent agent movement and lesser impact of direct communications between agents.

Sustainable stream processing algorithms have gained popularity in recent years. Flow control is a way of searching and modifying real-time data streams. Missing values are ubiquitous in real-world data streams, making data stream privacy challenging to safeguard. On the other hand, most privacy preservation methods need not take absent values into account when developed. They can anonymize data in certain study, however this results in data loss. This research proposes a unique parallel distributed approach for protecting privacy while using incomplete data streams. This method uses a production computational system to continually anonymize data streams, using clustering to construct each tuple. It clusters data in partial and complete forms using variable and array dimensions as similarity metrics. In order to prevent values and outliers' pollution, a generalization approach that is based on more than matches is used. The experiments used real data to compare current systems with varied settings. This research will cover several anonymization mechanisms and their advantages. There are also drawbacks. Finally, the future of continuous data anonymization research has been explored. © 2022 IEEE.

Owing to increased penetration of sustainable energy sources, multiple converters are run in parallel to improve the power handling capacity in distributed generation systems. paralleling of converters needs to be investigated carefully;and advantages in terms of semiconductor efficiency, power quality and conducted electromagnetic interference (EMI) should be evaluated. It can be ensured that paralleling results in increased efficiency, and better EMI performance by effectively controlling the type of coupling between passive components and interleaving angle amongst carriers. This article, at first, compares common mode (CM) and differential mode (DM) EMI generated by simple two-level voltage source and current source inverter (2L-VSI, 2L-CSI), using sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM). A simple equivalent circuit model for the conducted noise has also been derived for both the topologies. Based on the preliminary results, CSI was down selected for further investigations, and effect of paralleling of CSIs on conducted noise has been studied. In the analysis, coupled inductors with different coupling configurations and coupling coefficients were considered and optimal combination is presented.

SkipTrain is a novel Decentralized Learning (DL) algorithm, which minimizes energy consumption in decentralized learning by strategically skipping some training rounds and substituting them with synchronization rounds. These training-silent periods, besides saving energy, also allow models to better mix and produce models with superior accuracy than typical DL algorithms. Our empirical evaluations with 256 nodes demonstrate that SkipTrain reduces energy consumption by 50% and increases model accuracy by up to 12% compared to D-PSGD, the conventional DL algorithm.

Today's digital phased array architectures face the challenges of exponential growth in processing and digital data flow as arrays increase in size, element count, instantaneous bandwidth, and other factors. Traditional methods of beamforming, adaptive beamforming, and heretofore unexplored array functions cannot be sustained due to processing and data flow bottlenecks common to current digital architectures, which remain linked to inherently analog methods of beam-oriented array processing. DARPA's Scalable On-Array Processing (SOAP) [1] aims to look at new architectures that support new forms of on-array distributed processing architectures and data flow management to enable digital arrays to realize their full potential.

Lattice-based Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) can effectively resist the quantum threat to blockchain's underlying cryptographic algorithms. Blockchain node decryption is one of the most commonly used cryptographic computations in blockchain systems, and polynomial multiplication, a time-consuming operation for decryption, is one of the factors limiting blockchain efficiency. This paper proposes a novel distributed computing algorithm for polynomial multiplication, applicable in blockchain decryption. By splitting polynomials into lower-degree terms and delegating tasks to distributed nodes, our approach reduces computation time. A novel verification strategy based on the Karatsuba algorithm ensures result accuracy. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed scheme improves the execution efficiency of NTT and INTT operations by approximately 47.8% and 52.4%, and reduces Kyber decryption time by up to 23.5%.

Efficient implementation of concurrent data structures is crucial for ensuring safe and efficient access to data in shared-memory environments. Maintaining height balance within these concurrent structures in a multi-core setting is vital to prevent performance degradation or structural imbalances. Self-balancing trees play a key role in achieving consistent performance across various workloads, ensuring operations have logarithmic time complexity. This paper presents a concurrent implementation of the AA Tree using logical ordering, employing lazy synchronization to harmonize threads that perform concurrent operations on the shared AA tree. The paper discusses concurrent algorithm design for basic operations (insert(), remove(), and contains()) on the AA tree. We extensively analyze the CAA tree’s performance compared to state-of-the-art implementations across various workloads. Our CAA Tree implementation scales well with the number of threads and achieves an average speedup of $46.4 x$ over the sequential implementation when using 96 threads. Compared to concurrent implementations of AVL trees [2], Red-Black trees [3], Treaps [4], and Contention Adapting Search trees trees [5], the speedup is $2.1 \mathrm{x}, 1.6 \mathrm{x}, 1.6 \mathrm{x}$, and 1.1 x, respectively.
