Compared with the charge domain TDI(time delay integration) type image sensor, the surface formation image sensor, using the digital domain TDI technology, has the characteristics of high system integration and flexible use, and has attracted the attention of relevant research fields in recent years. In the digital domain TDI sensor, the signal is accumulated after differential amplification and analog-to-digital conversion. This method does not consider the depth of the charge trap to improve the practicality of the image system. Infrared search and tracking system (IRST) has an important application value in modern war, and the application scope of surface formation sensor in IRST is also gradually expanding. To verify the feasibility and characteristics of digital domain TDI technology in IRST, analyze and test. Through the working principle of the digital domain TDI face array image sensor analysis, complete the TDI algorithm design and simulation, to verify its feasibility. Based on FPGA platform to study the effect of TDI algorithm on image effect of imaging system. The verification results show that the image system based on the digital domain TDI technology can improve the dynamic range of the image, make the image has excellent signal-to-noise ratio, and can flexibly meet different requirements. Experiments show that the image data based on digital domain TDI is transmitted to the back-end system for target detection and other processing, which can achieve higher detection probability and recognition accuracy. © 2023 SPIE.

The interferometry imaging system based on photonic integrated planar photoelectric detection technology meets the demand for photo detectors because of its small size, light weight, small power consumption, easy processing and testing. And its resolution is not limited by the aperture size of a single lens. It is an emerging technology. For the image recovery problem of photon integrated interference imaging system, image recovery technology research is conducted. A compression sensing-based photon integrated interferometry imaging image recovery technique and an optimal tiny lens array arrangement design based on image residuals is presented. Through computer simulation, The results show that the image reconstruction method based on the compressed sensing algorithm reduced its RMSE by 90% and improved PSNR significantly. It improved the quality of image recovery. © 2022 SPIE

The laser three-dimensional imaging system can capture the three-dimensional image information of the target. Compared with the traditional two-dimensional image, the three-dimensional image provides more data dimensions and contains more comprehensive target information, which greatly improves the recognition ability of imaging weapons. Laser 3D imaging is mainly divided into scanning and non scanning. Compared with scanning imaging, non scanning 3D imaging has the characteristics of compact structure, fast imaging speed, high range resolution and large field of view. The existing non scanning laser 3D imaging systems mainly include streak tube laser 3D imaging system, APD area array laser 3D imaging system and range gated laser 3D imaging system. Among them, range gated 3D imaging technology has become the main research direction of long-distance laser 3D imaging system because of its advantages of clear imaging, high signal-to-noise ratio and free from the influence of atmospheric backscattering. In this paper, a new laser three-dimensional imaging technology is proposed, which is called pulse laser three-dimensional imaging technology based on pulse slice. This technology not only has the technical advantages of distance gated laser three-dimensional imaging, but also can use CCD (or CMOS) optical sensor with large-scale pixel array, At the same time, it overcomes the limitation of pulse width on longitudinal distance resolution in range gated laser 3D imaging, and can improve the longitudinal distance resolution by more than one order of magnitude. This paper describes the basic principle, exposure process analysis and imaging processing method of pulse slicing laser 3D imaging technology. © 2023 SPIE.

This paper proposed a "high-speed imaging + digital processing" evaluation method to solve the problem of scintillation noise of low light image intensifiers under low illumination, which fills the gap in the quantitative evaluation of scintillation noise characteristics under low illumination in China. It was found that the scintillation noise is mainly characterized by scintillations with a diameter over 50μm and a duration of sub-microsecond or less. The frequency and the brightness of the scintillations are used to quantitatively evaluate scintillation noise. The effects of the input illuminance and luminous gain on the scintillation noise of the domestic low light image intensifier were investigated by the proposed method. With the increase of input illuminance, the frequency of scintillation noise increases linearly, and the brightness does not change obviously. As the luminous gain of the image intensifier increases, the frequency of scintillation noise increases linearly, but the rate of increase in scintillation frequency is higher than that of luminous gain increase. Based on the characteristics of scintillation noise, such as size, duration, intensity, and the variation law with various conditions, the scintillation noise of the image intensifier can be further studied. The quantitative evaluation method of scintillation noise based on scintillation noise frequency and average equivalent input electron quantity proposed in this paper is of great significance to the breakthrough of scintillation noise and the improvement of the performance of image tubes under low illumination in the future. © 2023 SPIE.

With the rapid increase of the number of spacecrafts, the space environment is becoming more and more complex. The demand of spacecraft for omni-directional detection of surrounding objects is becoming more and more urgent. This paper introduces a distributed space objects detection technology based on optical fiber image bundles. The system adopts multi aperture optical system. The optical signal is transmitted to the high-sensitivity image sensor through the fiber image bundle for imaging. Compared with the traditional method, the multi aperture optical system using fiber image bundles can be flexibly arranged according to the needs. The system has the advantages of wide field of view, flexible layout and low cost. This paper introduces the relevant technologies used and the principle prototype developed. © 2022 SPIE

Infrared & Passive Millimeter Wave (IR/PMMW) composite guidance is the development hotspot of multimode composite guidance technology. Considering the low penetrability of IR imaging system under nonideal visibility conditions, while the PMMW imaging technology has high atmospheric transmittance but low resolution, a fusion method of infrared/millimeter wave images based on multi-resolution deep learning is proposed. In this method, the infrared and millimeter wave images are first decomposed by NSCT transformation to separate the low-frequency and high-frequency components of the input image. For low-frequency components fusion, we design a specific generative adversarial convolution neural network for activity-level measurement and fusion rules to preserve information in the both scenes as much as possible. The high-frequency components are fused by the Pulse Couple Neural Network algorithm because of its similar processing mechanism with human visual nervous system;the fusion results of the low and high frequency components are subjected to inverse NSCT transformation, the final fused image is obtained. Data augment technology, such as image style transferring, is applied to extend IR/PMMW training set. Extensive results demonstrate that the proposed method can generate image with higher qualities with salient targets inside, deliver better performance than the state-of-the-art methods in both subjective and objective evaluation. © 2022 SPIE

Photon counting lidar is a high-sensitivity laser active imaging method. It can obtain more three-dimensional point cloud data under the same size, weight and power consumption. Through the use of photon counting lidar and image fusion process, the electro-optical system, such as visible light and infrared camera, could generate grayscale images and videos with distance, position and other information of the targets. In this paper, a Fusion imaging System with Visible Light Camera and Photon Counting Lidar was designed. Visible light image and high-resolution photon counting three-dimensional point clouds could be obtained by the system. Fiber array coupled Geiger-APDs were used as the single photon detectors in the system to acquire three-dimensional information with two-dimensional scanner. A CMOS camera was used to acquire gray visible light image in the system. The time-correlated single photon counting (TCSPC) filter algorithm was used to process the single photon points in order to filter the noise signals and extract valid signals. The fusion processing algorithm of the imaging system was designed by using the direct linear transformation algorithm. The performance of the system was verified through experiments. The results show that the three-dimensional imaging range exceeds 1000m under the day light condition. The ranging accuracy of the system is 0.083m. Pixel-level fusion of visible light image and three-dimensional image could be realized at 1024×768 resolution, which effectively improves the detection and recognition capabilities of the system. © 2022 SPIE

Remote sensing image realistic simulation enables a thorough preparation of earth imaging instruments and data processing algorithms before the launch. Therefore, the development of the end-to-end simulation tool is essential for the future earth observation missions. The natural land surface is mostly heterogeneous and non-Lambertian simultaneously, of which the remote sensing image cannot be reproduced very well by the existing tools. In this paper, a physical based method is proposed for remote sensing radiance image simulation of heterogeneous, non-Lambertian land surface in the solar-reflective spectral range, which generates the input signal at sensor. The successive orders of radiation interactions model is established to account for the radiative transfer processes between atmosphere and surface, so that atmospheric radiation can be decoupled with the complex surface in the more precise way. An algebraic algorithm is adopted to calculate the separated atmospheric radiation parameters. The surface parameters devoting to directional reflection are generated by surface bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) map of imaging region. In this paper, BRDF/Albedo data retrieved from Moderate Resolution imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) measurements is employed to simulate the several cases by the proposed method. The results demonstrate the influence of non-Lambertian surface directional reflection on remote sensing radiance image. The difference of simulation between Lambertian and non-Lambertian surface is analyzed, which shows the necessity of this method. © 2022 SPIE

In order to enhance the detection capability of "cat's eye" effect existing in the photoelectronic equipment at long-range, we develop a laser active detection system in this paper. The parameters of laser transmitter and imaging system are well-designed based on the requirement of long-range active detection. The laser light is produced by a high energy pulsed laser at 532 nm, assembled with a beam expander which can achieve a tunable laser divergence angle from 0.03 ° to 5°, and the reflected light can be detected by a CMOS assembled with an long-focal-length optical lens. An experimental demonstration system is build up according to the system design, which can successfully detect a camera (Aperture-50 mm) at a detection range of 5.7 km, with no extra sophisticated signal processing schemes required. An evident "cat's eye" target can be observed in the raw image from the digital camera (exposure time-3 ms) when the laser divergence angle is 3°, whose intensity is more than 3 times of the background. The results indicate that this work meets the demand of long-range laser active detection based on the "cat's eye" effect. © 2022 SPIE
