In order to address certain bottlenecks arising in real life applications such as urban planning, communication network addressing, coding theory etc., the graph labeling methods come in handy. This is true for both difference labeling (like graceful labeling) and additive labeling (like harmonious labeling) methods in graph theory. A crisp note regarding the importance of graph labeling methods are discussed in addition to a probe on a possible variation of harmonious labeling called properly odd harmonious labeling. As a result of this certain interesting existence and non- existence results were derived for some classes of graphs. © 2022 IEEE.

In autonomous driving (AD) systems, it is challenging for a functional module to properly fuse the data flows generated from multiple sensors in a real-time manner. Data fusion performs well when strictly complying with the data dependencies between modules, but meanwhile, the end-to-end latency of critical execution paths (from sensor to controller) may be worsened and become out of bounds. At the other extreme, simply minimizing the end-to-end latency may lead to insufficient data fusion. To tackle this challenging problem, this paper uses the directed acyclic graph (DAG) to model the AD system with multi-source data flows. We apply priority techniques to reduce the end-to-end latency of the critical execution paths and propose an integer linear programming (ILP) based method to derive a reasonable vertex priority assignment such that the end-to-end latency of each critical execution path satisfies its real-time constraint, and moreover, the execution order of vertices determined by vertex priorities keep consistent with data-dependency constraints with best efforts. Experimental work shows that our ILP method can solve the reasonable priority assignment problem for the DAG with hundreds of vertices in a few seconds.

Compute-in-memory-based accelerators have gained significant attention due to their promising potential. However, many studies in this area often focus solely on the accelerator's performance without considering the latency and energy consumption associated with external data access. Moreover, many have observed a gap in energy efficiency between the macro and the accelerator levels. Our work addresses this problem by proposing an SRAM CIM-based AI accelerator design that reduces additional memory access and mitigates the overhead associated with external data access. Our results demonstrate that lowering the ratio of total local memory capacity to total CIM macro capacity closes the energy efficiency gap between the macro level and the accelerator level.

The advent of virtual reality and immersive communication technologies is effecting a transformation in user experiences, enabling high-quality, low-latency interactions. In order to meet these requirements, edge caching, in particular for the transmission of virtual reality content, has become an efficient strategy for the mitigation of transmission latency and the decrease of backhaul traffic loads. This paper provides an introduction to a two-stage hybrid caching framework developed to manage the typical obstacles related to the caching of 360° video. The proposed framework comprises two stages: a learning stage, which employs a Deep Q-Network to predict cache replacement actions, and a solving stage, which utilizes Integer Linear programming to refine and optimize caching decisions. Furthermore, an L2 edge cache architecture is designed with the goal of enhancing cache utilization and further alleviating backhaul traffic. Performance evaluations illustrate that the proposed framework significantly enhances the cache hit ratio and reduces latency and backhaul usage compared to other methods.

programming to achieve high performance for NVIDIA GPUs using CUDA has been known to be challenging. A GPU has hundreds or thousands of cores that a program must exhibit sufficient parallelism to achieve maximum GPU utilization. A system with GPU accelerators has a heterogeneous and deep memory system that programmers must effectively and correctly use to fully take advantage of the GPU's parallelism capability. In this paper, we present CUDAMicroBench, a collection of fourteen microbenchmarks that demonstrate performance challenges in CUDA programming and techniques to optimize the CUDA programs to address these challenges. It also includes examples and techniques for using advanced CUDA features such as data shuffling between threads, dynamic parallelism, etc that can help users optimize the CUDA program for performance. The microbenchmark can be used for evaluating the performance of GPU architectures, the memory systems of GPU itself and of the whole system architectures, and for evaluating the effectiveness of compiler and performance tools for performance analysis. It can be used to help users understand the complexity of heterogeneous GPU-accelerator systems through examples and guide users for performance optimization. It is released as BSD-licensed open-source from https://***/passlab/***.

Single-source publishing has been known for decades as a method of creating and maintaining published content from a single source document, while generating different content forms. It has usually been associated with the maintenance of a system documentation and it has been implemented in specialized systems around certain particular document forms. We present a case that such an approach would be useful in an open-ended general area of text-based document management applications, such as creation and maintenance of multi-lingual web sites and courseware material maintenance in LaTeX. Such application areas are very dynamic and open in types of target text, which is used for further processing and document rendering, so a closed system for single-source publishing would not be appropriate. We demonstrate an approach using universal text preprocessing and text-embedded programming (UPTEP) that can be effectively used for this task. This solution approach is validated through the use of open-source Starfish system, which is a general UPTEP system. We show how the UPTEP approach to single-source publishing can be readily implemented using Starfish on the two case studies.

Human-machine hybrid enhanced intelligence, as a cutting-edge technology in the advancement of artificial intelligence, can provide dynamic support for innovative developments in intelligent education characterized by human-machine collaboration. Addressing the prevalent issue in current university programming courses where learning feedback relies excessively on either the teacher or machine, it is of great theoretical and practical significance to explore the tripartite composite subject hybrid enhanced teaching model. Based on the principles of human-machine hybrid-enhanced intelligence, Robert Gagne’s instructional process, and perspectives on learning feedback, a programming teaching model of "teacher-machine-student" hybrid enhancement is proposed. This model was applied to a C language course at a certain university, involving 141 students from three classes. The aim is to provide insights into the application of artificial intelligence technologies in programming education. The results demonstrate that the proposed model accurately identifies issues in programming teaching and promptly delivers personalized learning feedback, thereby enhancing teaching effectiveness.

In this paper, the authors introduce an innovative methodology for automating backend code optimization, triggered from the frontend of a web application and powered by advanced generative AI models. The proposed system integrates the *** and Laravel frameworks, together with a PHP (Hypertext preprocessor) Parser and the OpenAI API (Application programming interface), enabling dynamic, real-time optimization without necessitating system downtime. In contrast to conventional approaches that rely on offline environments or CI/CD (Continuous integration and continuous deployment) pipelines, this methodology facilitates continuous performance enhancement during active usage of web application. An experimental evaluation involving 20 functions within a Laravel application demonstrated a 70% optimization success rate, a 62.6% reduction in execution time and an 18.18% decrease in code lines. This approach preserves semantic consistency and provides reports to developers for further implementation. By reducing errors and enabling ongoing refinements, the work makes a significant contribution to the field of web application development.

Augmented Reality (AR) technology enables continuous visual feedback and varied digital scenes on the real world. This paper presents AR-C&P, an AR-based tangible programming tool for young children. It allows children to create AR maze map with low-cost materials and plan the route by constructing tangible program sequences. Meanwhile, a variety of real-time visual feedback from the screen will be superimposed on the real scenes of the whole process. AR-C&P is intuitive and intriguing which could enrich children’s creating experience, develops their cognitive developmental skills and helps children learn fundamental programming concepts. We conducted two experiments. The first experiment reveals the relationship between task completion and cognitive developmental skills. The second experiment reveals the effect of AR on learning programming.
