Digital watermark is the effective way to realize the copyright protection,the digital watermark application with the multi-core technology is being more and more widely in embedded systems *** paper proposes a way that NiosII dual-core realizes the digital images embedding watermarking,including the DCT algorithm,NiosII dual-core parallel processing,barrier synchronization mechanism,realizing digital images embedding *** experiment results shows that dual-core is more efficient than single-core,images embedded with watermark comparing with the original one have no change in vision.

This paper deals with asynchronous cooperative relay network utilizing coded distributed closed-loop extended orthogonal space time block coding (CL EO-STBC) at the relay nodes to achieve full cooperative diversity and unity data transmission rate between the relay nodes and the destination node with coding gain and linear decoding complexity for the cases of four relay nodes. parallel interference cancellation (PIC) detection is applied at the destination node to combat intersymbol interference (ISI) generated for the asynchronous among the relay nodes. Furthermore, pairwise error probability (PEP) analysis is used to confirm the available cooperative diversity. End-to-end bit error rate (BER) simulations with and without outer coding are utilized to confirm the efficacy of the scheme.

Checkpointing and Rollback recovery is a very well known scheme of error recovery in fault tolerant and reliable system design, which has been widely used on the parallel or distributed computer systems. We have presented non-blocking cooperative checkpointing/rollback recovery algorithms for distributed systems. The proposed checkpointing algorithm allows processes to take permanent checkpoints directly, without taking temporary checkpoints. The character of the algorithm contributes to its speed of execution. The orphan messages are eliminated by sender processes and the in-transit messages are eliminated by checkpointing interval and retransmission mechanism. The rollback recovery algorithm has such distinguishing features as, simply, low overhead, and higher parallelism. We have shown that the presented algorithms take much less time for their execution and use less number of control messages when compared to a noted recent algorithms. While reducing control message complexity during gain checkpoints from O(n2) to O(n).

HBase is an open source distributed Key/Value store based on the idea of Big Table. It is being used in many data-center Papplications (e.g. Face book, Twitter, etc.) because of its portability and massive scalability. For this kind of system, low latency and high throughput is expected when supporting services for large scale concurrent accesses. However, the existing HBase implementation is built upon Java Sockets Interface that provides sub-optimal performance due to the overhead to provide cross-platform portability. The byte-stream oriented Java sockets semantics confine the possibility to leverage new generations of network technologies. This makes it hard to provide high performance services for data-intensive applications. High Performance Computing (HPC) domain has exploited high performance and low latency networks such as Infini Band for many years. These interconnects provide advanced network features, such as Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA), to achieve high throughput and low latency along with low CPU utilization. RDMA follows memory-block semantics, which can be adopted efficiently to satisfy the object transmission primitives used in HBase. In this paper, we present a novel design of HBase for RDMA capable networks via Java Native Interface (JNI). Our design extends the existing open-source HBase software and makes it RDMA capable. Our performance evaluation reveals that latency of HBase Get operations of 1KB message size can be reduced to 43.7μs with the new design on QDR platform (32 Gbps). This is about a factor of 3.5 improvement over 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GigE) network with TCP Offload. Throughput evaluations using four HBase region servers and 64 clients indicate that the new design boosts up throughput by 3 X times over 1 GigE and 10 GigE networks. To the best of our knowledge, this is first HBase design utilizing high performance RDMA capable interconnects.

With the emergence of cloud computing which can deliver on-demand high-performance computing resources over the Internet, cloud workflow systems offer a competitive software solution for managing large numbers of business processes. In this paper, we first analyse the basic system requirements through a motivating example, and then, the general design of a cloud workflow system is proposed with the focus on its system architecture, functionalities and QoS (quality of service) management. Afterwards, the system implementation of a peer-to-peer based prototype cloud workflow system is demonstrated to verify our design. Finally, experimental results show that with the dynamic resource provisioning, conventional violation handling strategies such as workflow local rescheduling can ensure the on-time completion of large numbers of business processes in a more cost-effective way. © 2012, Australian Computer Society, Inc.

Renewable energy sources like wind, solar and hydro are reliable alternatives to the conventional energy sources such as oil, natural gas, or coal. distributed power generation systems based on renewable energy sources have gained tremendous importance worldwide and the trend is catching up in India as well. These are currently being interfaced to the existing systems using voltage source converters (VSC's). The control of such distributed resources is significantly different than the conventional power systems mainly because the VSC's have no inertia unlike the synchronous generators. As the percentage of renewable sources integrated into the utility grid increases, it becomes necessary to adhere to new and strict power quality guidelines. Most of these standards are developed for proper running of these resources in grid and islanded modes and also ensure power quality standards are met. This paper considers the multifunctional capabilities of distributed resource connected to the grid via a voltage source inverter. A simple control algorithm is developed for real and reactive power sharing of the load between various sources. This control algorithm is modified for power quality improvement. A voltage source inverter (VSI) based distributed energy resource is connected to three phase utility grid feeding a variety of linear loads. Simulation results are discussed for the model developed using Sim-Power systems of the Matlab software. The control algorithm can be extended for several distributed resources connected in parallel with suitable modifications.

In pervasive computing system, the increasing dynamic and complexity of software and hardware resources and frequentative interaction among function components make fault-tolerant design very challenging. In this paper, we propose a novel self-adaptive fault-tolerant mechanism for a dynamic pervasive computing environment such as mobile ad hoc network. In our approach, the self-adaptive fault-tolerant mechanism is dynamically built according to various types of detected faults based on continuous monitoring and analysis of the component states. We put forward the architecture of fault-tolerant system and the policy-based fault-tolerant scheme, which adopts three-dimensional array of core features to capture spatial and temporal variability and the Event-Condition-Action rules. The mentioned mechanism has been designed and implemented as self-adaptive fault-tolerant middleware, shortly called SAFTM, on a preliminary prototype for a dynamic pervasive computing environment such as mobile ad hoc network. We have performed the experiments to evaluate the efficiency of the fault-tolerant mechanism. The results of the experiments show that the performance of the self-adaptive fault tolerant mechanism is realistic.

The Non-Uniform Fast Fourier Transform (NUFFT) is a generalization of FFT to non-equidistant samples. It has many applications which vary from medical imaging to radio astronomy to the numerical solution of partial differential equations. Despite recent advances in speeding up NUFFT on various platforms, its practical applications are still limited, due to its high computational cost, which is significantly dominated by the convolution of a signal between a non-uniform and uniform grids. The computational cost of the NUFFT is particularly detrimental in cases which require fast reconstruction times, such as iterative 3D non-Cartesian MRI reconstruction. We propose novel and highly scalable parallel algorithm for performing NUFFT on x86-based multi-core CPUs. The high performance of our algorithm relies on good SIMD utilization and high parallel efficiency. On convolution, we demonstrate on average 90% SIMD efficiency using SSE, as well up to linear scalability using a quad-socket 40-core Intel(R) Xeon(R) E7-4870 Processors based system. As a result, on dual socket Intel(R) Xeon(R) X5670 based server, our NUFFT implementation is more than 4x faster compared to the best available NUFFT3D implementation, when run on the same hardware. On Intel(R) Xeon(R) E5-2670 processor based server, our NUFFT implementation is 1.5X faster than any published NUFFT implementation today. Such speed improvement opens new usages for NUFFT. For example, iterative multi channel reconstruction of a 240×240×240 image could execute in just over 3 minutes, which is on the same order as contemporary non-iterative (and thus less-accurate) 3D NUFFT-based MRI reconstructions.
