As the IPv6 protocol gains extensive deployment, ICMPv6—its core element in network configuration and route discovery—has emerged as a high-risk target for distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. Conventional ICMPv6 DDoS detection strategies often fail to balance precision and timeliness when faced with high-dimensional traffic and intricate temporal patterns. In response, we propose a detection framework integrating Time-Aware Mutual Information (TMI) feature selection with an LSTM-GRU-Attention (LGA) hybrid model for ICMPv6 DDoS attacks. By applying TMI within sliding windows, we compute and average the mutual information between features and attack labels, effectively reducing feature dimensionality while preserving temporal correlations. The resulting subset of critical features is then input into the LGA model, which leverages LSTM and GRU in parallel to capture both long-and short-term dependencies, while a self-attention module provides enhanced global context. Our experiments indicate that, relative to conventional feature selection and detection approaches, the proposed method achieves substantial gains in accuracy and F1 score, with a marked decrease in inference delay, thus satisfying the real-time defense requirements in IPv6 network environments.

The Automotive industry undergoes a major transformation. Alternative powertrains, automated driving and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X)-communication impose new requirements for vehicle development. Automotive software (SW), hardware (HW) and Vehicle Electronics combined in Electrical/Electronic architectures (E/E-architectures) play a key role in the paradigm change. An evolution from function-oriented, distributed architectures towards domain-or even vehicle-centralized architectures is expected. Even so, the question of evaluating architecture alternatives based on quality characteristics is unsolved. Then again, measuring an E/E-architecture’s quality and suitability is necessary for developing appropriate, use case specific solutions to support a sustainable transformation. By designing a method to evaluate design alternatives for the E/E-architecture of vehicles, combining different viewpoints and evaluation metrics, a contribution to this transformation can be provided. In this work such a viewpoint-based architecture framework enabling a holistic E/E-architecture assessment is introduced. Metrics substantiating these viewpoints are linked to the model. Finally the proposed procedure is demonstrated in the context of a simplified use case.

Just like every ecosystem, the computing one is subject to permanent evolution. In this paper we identify three major challenges resulting from this evolution. Those challenges stem from the hardware and application layer likewise. For one, we entered the era of many-* hardware architectures, which poses new requirements to upper layers. And with the proliferation of the computing continuum (e.g., cloud-, fog- and edge-computing), applications become more demanding and dynamic: The system needs to be able to satisfy application-intrinsic requirements and counter application-extrinsic uncertainties. As part of our contribution we present the current and ongoing research topics of our system-software stack for future many-* architectures. We further present the various mechanisms and concepts we employ within our system-software and describe how the system-software collaborates with other layers to tackle those challenges. Those concepts include a fundamentally different execution model and control-flow abstraction, allowing for massive micro-parallelism to efficiently utilize the hardware. Since the system-software research is performed as part of a collaborative research centre, we are able to approach the challenges on all layers of the technology stack and verify our solutions on an FPGA-based prototype platform. This allows us to design mechanisms in collaboration with every layer of the technology stack, that, when put together, cooperate across layer boundaries.

In this paper will be described a new security protocol for secret sharing and hiding, which use selected personal features. Such technique allows to create human-oriented personalized security protocols dedicated for particular users. Proposed method may be applied in dispersed computing systems, where secret data should be divided into particular number of parts.

Today's computing world features a growing number of cyber-physical systems that require the cooperation of many physical devices. Examples include autonomous cars and co-working robots, which are expected to appropriately adapt to any possible context they find themselves in (e.g. the presence of a nearby human). However, the controlling software continues to be developed using established object-oriented modelling techniques like UML, which do not natively possess a notion of context and thus may introduce accidental complexity. With increasing complexity, the probability of the introduction of software errors rises, which can have fatal consequences in cyber-physical systems. To address this, we envision a model-driven architecture for self-adaptive cyberphysical systems that explicitly models structured context. Entities are modelled as message-passing parallel processes and can play roles in specific contexts, which dynamically alter their behaviour and relationships with other parts of the system. Since the planning of complex adaptations can be cumbersome in real-world scenarios, we envision an intuitive formulation of adaptations as graph rewriting rules on the context model. This paper discusses the current state of research and identifies open research challenges. Based on this, the envisioned architecture as well as an evaluation strategy are presented.

Irregular algorithms are often encountered in highly data-centric application domains. These algorithms operate on irregular data structures such as sparse graphs with irregular access patterns, which may also modify the underlying topology unpredictably. High computational time and inherent data parallelism present in these algorithms motivate the use of GPUs for speeding things up, however there are challenges for their efficient implementations due to: difficulty in protecting the shared data consistency in the presence of concurrent dynamic transactions; irregular access patterns due to unstructured data structures; and dynamic structural modifications of the underlying topology. One approach to overcome these challenges is to use software Transactional Memory (STM). However, overly complex design and implementations of contemporary STM-based approaches and lack of proper framework to employ them in conjunction with the irregular algorithms stalls their adoption by the programming community. To overcome some of these challenges, this research proposes a lightweight STM with a simple design (Lite GSTM), based on a lock stealing algorithm, and an associated extensible framework to hide the complexity of the STM from a programmer. The framework is extensible by allowing plug-ins of customized STMs designed for different needs of transactions. The use of the framework is elaborated with two use cases which employ completely different irregular algorithms, however, have some common features: the underlying data structure is a graph, and the graph is structurally modified (coarsened) unpredictably in the course of execution. The paper presents the performance comparisons of the STM-based implementations with respect to their sequential and non-STM based counterparts, which show promising results.

This paper presents a detailed analysis of Mapping the Polybench C 4.2.1 kernels to Coarse-Grain Reconfigurable Arrays (CGRAs), targeting High-Performance Computing (HPC). The results show that the Polybench kernels are well suited for acceleration on a CGRA due to their regular array accesses. However, seperately mapping the innermost loops of the Polybench kernels to a CGRA yields only limited speedups because the small size of the generated dataflow graphs limits the available parallelism and results in a low computational intensity. Therefore, loop transformations which will increase the parallelism and the speedups are suggested. While this work focuses on a specific CGRA and its compiler, the observations and conclusions are also transferable to other CGRAs and their compilers.

A novel four-switch three-port isolated Direct Current (DC)-Direct Current (DC) high gain converter derived from the modified Input parallel Output Series (IPOS) cascaded connection of input boost and buck-boost converters and output flyback converter is portrayed in this paper. In the continuous Conduction Mode (CCM), this converter can provide a quadratic non-inverting buck-boost characteristic or a derived boost characteristic at the isolated output port using two distinct switching combinations and utilizing the turns ratio N offered by the High-Frequency Transformer (HFT). Two non-isolated output ports characterize a boost and a non-inverting buck-boost output respectively. The boost inductor at the battery-interfacing input side renders a continuous current operation from the battery, allowing increased battery life and integration possibility to distributed Energy Resources (DER) like a Photovoltaic (PV) array. CCM analysis of the ideal converter in the steady-state is documented in detail and the voltage gains are penned down. MATLAB® SIMULINK platform is used to simulate the converter and its results validate the proposed operation. Closed-loop current controller is designed and its efficacy is validated using step changes in load.

We present DADS, the first distributed, online, scalable, and cost-effective dynamic slicer for continuously-running distributed programs with respect to user-specified budget constraints. DADS is distributed by design to exploit distributed and parallel computing resources. With an online analysis, it avoids tracing hence the associated time and space costs. Most importantly, DADS achieves and maintains practical scalability and cost-effectiveness tradeoffs according to a given budget on analysis time by continually and automatically adjusting the configuration of its analysis algorithm on the fly via reinforcement learning. Against eight real-world Java distributed systems, we empirically demonstrated the scalability and cost-effectiveness merits of DADS. The open-source tool package of DADS with a demo video is publicly available.
