Recently, a growing number of researchers focus their work on a fledgling field related to the identification, recording, interpreting, processing and simulation of emotion and affective states. Affective computing, along with the wide range of related application areas, is expanded increasingly due to the emerging demand for natural, intelligent, adaptive and personalized multimodal interaction context. This paper focuses on the gesture and bodily expressivity analysis, investigating and reporting the entire spectrum of related aspects such as issues involved in affectively enhanced corpora (stimuli and input streams), respective expressivity formalization approaches as well as machine learning and pattern recognition aspects (feature extraction, multimodal fusion and classification). Finally, the synthesis counterpart of affectively enhanced behavior is examined and future directions of the research area are identified.

A powered knee orthosis named Assistive Knee Brace (AKB) is designed for the elderly and patients with knee dysfunctions to gain external support at their knee joints during gait. Safety, light-weight and user-friendly interface are the emphasis of system design. In the assistive controller design, gait analysis method based on Finite State Machine is developed for gait pattern estimation, with state estimated through fuzzy inference. Based on the gait pattern estimated online, reference gait pattern is generated as assistive control input of the powered knee orthosis to adjust the wearer's abnormal motion with torque support to track the normal pattern. To verify the assistive function of AKB, gait experiments under control are conducted on healthy subjects simulating certain limited mobility. Results show that with proper assistive torque from the AKB, wearers can perform motions in good patterns.

This paper discusses the synthesis of distributed computer system for monitoring and control of thermoacoustic processes. Based on the analysis of existing monitoring systems, authors show the main tasks of the synthesized system as well as describe its structure and main components. Created distributed computer system (DCS) is then tested on the experimental thermoacoustic installation. Using the data obtained authors describe the approach for thermoacoustic systems control by the adjustments in the resonator length of the thermoacoustic device.

In this paper we present novel algorithm for the cursive style Korean handwriting synthesis method based on the shape analysis with minimized input data. Hangul (Korean Character) has the different characteristics in structure, that is, character consists of consonants and vowels like English and also it is a combination character like Chinese character. This research aims at using minimal input character data, that is namely consonant and vowel, to synthesize all possible combination of Hangul character. First, we propose the method how to get an inter-strokes information for making position of the natural Korean character. Second, we propose how to synthesize all the Korean characters using small amount of input data and normalized one from some of representative input data. Finally we add a function that concatenates each consonants and vowels for cursive style. By the experiment, we show that the proposed method is effective for synthesis of Hangul by human evaluation.
