Facing the requirements of advancing the strategy of training elite talents, optimizing the talent training system and building first-class undergraduate education, the training of elite talents not only emphasizes problem - solving “how to do it?”, but also emphasizes thinking about problems “what to do?” to help students view and solve problems from a broader perspective, interdisciplinary and systematic thinking. In the teaching process of “electronic circuits”, we have clearly realized that with the rapid development of electronic circuit technology, electronic equipment has become increasingly integrated, electronic design automation (EDA) and the rapid development of various circuit simulation software have greatly simplified the complex circuit analysis and calculations. Because the world is analog, the signals in nature are analog signals, and analog circuits are inseparable from real life. Therefore, we have proposed a comparative teaching strategy of electronic circuit technology with “analogous thinking method”. The so-called analogy thinking refers to the logical reasoning method that transfers the knowledge of one special thing to another special thing based on the similarity or similarity in some aspects between two or two kinds of things. When two types of things are the same or similar in one or some aspects, analogy thinking can be used. In this paper, application of analogy as well as inspiring methodology in teaching feedback amplifier circuit have been given as a case study.

software-Defined Networking is an emerging paradigm that anticipates changing the constraints followed by conventional networking architecture. It separated the control plane from the data plane and make the control plane a centralized hub of the network. By centralizing the controller, SDN carries a good hold over the whole network as the controller is having the information of every node of the network and provides an ease to the users by offering programmatic access. But on the other side of the coin, the criterion of security has to be done manually as it increases the working load of the networking administrators. So, the paper provided a comprehensive survey of different attacks in each layer of the SDN environment. In this paper, each plane and the interface of SDN are categorized further into different attacks that can occur in a particular stance. To the best of our knowledge, the proposed research work is the first-ever attempt to detect the attack in each layer as well as in between the interfaces of every layer of SDN. This work can be very essential for the network administrators and the researchers working in the field of attacks in SDN to find the layer-based attacks.

Bug localization automatic localize relevant source files given a natural language description of bug within a software project. For a large project containing hundreds and thousands of source files, developers need cost lots of time to understand bug reports generated by quality assurance and localize these buggy source files. Traditional methods are heavily depending on the information retrieval technologies which rank the similarity between source files and bug reports in lexical level. Recently, deep learning based models are used to extract semantic information of code with significant improvements for bug localization. However, programming language is a highly structural and logical language, which contains various relations within and cross source files. Thus, we propose KGBugLocator to utilize knowledge graph embeddings to extract these interrelations of code, and a keywords supervised bi-directional attention mechanism regularize model with interactive information between source files and bug reports. With extensive experiments on four different projects, we prove our model can reach the new the-state-of-art(SOTA) for bug localization.

The paper selects reusable operations over binary and ternary vectors that are frequently used in many important practical applications (that are explicitly indicated) and suggests methods to implement them in hardware accelerators. Many examples are given. The developed architectures are organized as either combinational or sequential designs. The following steps are elaborated: 1) suggesting methods and architectures based on knowledge and the results of previous publications; 2) modeling in software and estimating the most important characteristics of the future circuits; 3) implementation in hardware, evaluation of the design, and experiments. The presented example demonstrates all these steps. The results of experiments show effectiveness of the proposed accelerators form the point of view of performance and the consumed resources.

Intelligent Autonomous Systems, including Intelligent Manufacturing & Automation and Industry 4.0, have immense potential to improve human health, safety, and welfare. engineering these systems requires an interdisciplinary knowledge of mechanical, electrical, computer, software, and systems engineering throughout the design and development process. Mechatronics and Robotics engineering (MRE) is emerging as a discipline that can provide the broad inter-disciplinary technical and professional skill sets that are critical to fulfill the research and development needs for these advanced systems. Despite experiencing tremendous, dynamic growth, MRE lacks a settled-on and agreed-upon body-of-knowledge, leading to unmet needs for standardized curricula, courses, laboratory platforms, and accreditation criteria, resulting in missed career opportunities for individuals and missed economic opportunities for industry. There have been many educational efforts around MRE, including courses, minors, and degree programs, but they have not been well integrated or widely adopted, especially in USA. To enable MRE to coalesce as a distinct and identifiable engineering field, the authors conducted four workshops on the Future of Mechatronics and Robotics engineering (FoMRE) education at the bachelor's degree level. The overall goal of the workshops was to improve the quality of undergraduate MRE education and to ease the adoption of teaching materials to prepare graduates with a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on skills. To realize this goal, the specific objectives were to generate enthusiasm and a sense of community among current and future MRE educators, promote diversity and inclusivity within the MRE community, identify thought leaders, and seek feedback from the community to serve as a foundation for future activities. Internet of Things (IoT) devices are proliferating in the agricultural sector as more and more farmers depend on these tools to manage their operations. From completely autonomous milking parlors to crop management and greenhouse automation technology is being used in an unprecedented variety of ways to improve productivity. The advantages are enormous, allowing farms to grow to accommodate more resources (such as water) and less need for human labor; in fact, in some areas, it is now economically impossible for farmers to return to more conventional methods of production. Regrettably, the risk of cyber assaults has also increased alongside technological advancements. The safety of the food supply as a whole and specific farm may be jeopardized if any one of them were to be successful. Collars used to track cow health in an intelligent dairy farm are thoroughly examined in this study. To our knowledge, this is the first study of its kind to focus on the cyber defences of actual farm equipment. We were able to effectively decipher the wireless protocol and show that we could trick the system into thinking we were one of the sensors by injecting bogus data. According to the results of the tests, the data endpoint software and the system that receives signals from the sensors are both susceptible to data injection. In this study, we focus on the vulnerabilities that pose the greatest risk and propose some solutions that could be built into sensors down the road.

With the unrivalled advances in information and communication technologies, teaching and learning methods have substantially evolved over years. This has led to several novel and creative ideas and thoughts, making several channels available for gaining knowledge of academic curricula as well as post-graduate career development. In this paper, we share our experience on a case study for shifting the traditional approach of teaching a course on Web Application engineering and Development, which is a commonly-populated regularly-offered course on most software engineering, computer science, and information technology related programs in many worldwide universities. The course material and assessment methods are redesigned to foster more active and collaborative social learning. The instructor's role has changed to act as a coach guiding students to gain the required knowledge and achieve the expected learning outcomes through inquiry-based learning using mashup and Web 2.0 technologies to engage students, deal with student differences and mange their communications. The described approach has been approved as part of an innovative teaching initiative program at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia, for online classes during the global pandemic of COVID-19 coronavirus. This paper also shares the instructor's and students' perspectives on comparing virtual classrooms to traditional face-to-face classrooms.

The strong pressure on the roof, excessive concentration of stress, soft and broken surrounding rock, and difficulties in roadway support have always been important factors affecting the safety and stability of deep high stress soft rock roadway. based on the special space unloading function of the pressure relief groove in the deep soft rock roadway, starting from the unloading pressure theory of deep surrounding rock, this paper has analyzed the effect of the pressure relief groove in relieving the pressure of the deep mine and controlling the deformation of surrounding rock. Three dimensional numerical simulation software FLAC3D was used to compare and analyze the surrounding rock failure and stress distribution characteristics before and after the excavation of the pressure relief groove in the deep high-stress soft rock roadway, and the optimum setting position of the pressure relief groove was also optimized. The results show that the deformation of surrounding rock can be effectively controlled after excavating and unloading pressure trough in deep high-stress soft rock roadway, and the displacement of top and bottom plate and roadway side can be reduced by nearly 30mm;the stress concentration is significantly reduced, the stress peak is transferred to the deep part of surrounding rock, and the pressure relief effect is obvious, which effectively maintains the safety and stability of the roadway, and indicates the direction for the pressure relief adjustment and stress control of the high-stress soft rock roadway at the deep part. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Modeling is a core topic in software engineering Education. Nevertheless, students face difficulties while learning software modeling. To teach software modeling effectively in computing courses, instructors who usually employed traditional methods could use active learning strategies. However, instructors are reluctant to change their teaching approaches due to several barriers that hinder the application of active learning strategies. Besides, relatively little research addresses how to mitigate them. The objective of this research is to help instructors implementing active learning strategies when teaching software modeling with UML diagrams. To achieve this objective, we conducted a Design Science Research (DSR). We proposed an artifact called OpenSMALS, an Open Repository for teaching software Modeling applying Active Learning Strategies. OpenSMALS provides specific guidelines on how instructors can apply these strategies and helping instructors to identify the active learning strategies best suit their teaching context. We performed four DSR Design Cycles-in four different universities-to evaluate and evolve OpenSMALS. Our results show that OpenSMALS satisfactorily reduced the barriers faced by instructors, and it achieved an appropriate maturity level to be adopted by other instructors.

Performance of dynamic clouds depends on the efficiency of its load balancing and resource allocation. This paper is an exploratory study on the predictive approach for dynamic resource distribution of cloud services. Efficient cloud resource management can be achieved by simulating cloud services based on the predictions of incoming workloads, which can be more efficient than static allocation methods. This paper introduces a rule based workload-balancing algorithm based on the predictions of an end-to-end system called Cicada. A simulation of cloud services can be achieved by a cloud service simulator called CloudSim and it will be used to achieve an algorithm with lower computational demand and a faster workload balancing. The final result will demonstrate the effectiveness of a predictive workload balancing approach that can achieve faster workload balancing with a lower computational power usage.
