This paper analyzes the dynamic disassembly line balancing problem based on product state uncertainty and regards it as a dynamic multi-objective optimization problem to solve. In dynamic multi-objective optimization problems, it is important to quickly track the Pareto optimal set and respond quickly to the changing environment. Domain generalization has been proved to have good adaptive ability for different environments. Therefore, this paper proposes an ensembled classifier algorithm based on domain generalization to deal with the dynamic disassembly line balancing problem. The algorithm uses the technique of domain generalization to train an ensembled classifier before the arrival of a new environment by using historical environment knowledge. The performance of the algorithm is improved by generating high-quality initial populations. Finally, based on a set of problem examples of different sizes and environmental similarities generated in this paper, and by comparing this algorithm with several latest comparative algorithms, the effectiveness of the algorithm is verified for the dynamic disassembly line balancing problem. © 2023 IEEE.

To date, over 40 Automated Program Repair (APR) tools have been designed with varying bug-fixing strategies, which have been demonstrated to have complementary performance in terms of being effective for different bug classes. Intuitively, it should be feasible to improve the overall bug-fixing performance of APR via assembling existing tools. Unfortunately, simply invoking all available APR tools for a given bug can result in unacceptable costs on APR execution as well as on patch validation (via expensive testing). Therefore, while assembling existing tools is appealing, it requires an efficient strategy to reconcile the need to fix more bugs and the requirements for practicality. In light of this problem, we propose a Preference-based Ensemble Program Repair framework (P-EPR), which seeks to effectively rank APR tools for repairing different bugs. P-EPR is the first non-learning-based APR ensemble method that is novel in its exploitation of repair patterns as a major source of knowledge for ranking APR tools and its reliance on a dynamic update strategy that enables it to immediately exploit and benefit from newly derived repair results. Experimental results show that P-EPR outperforms existing strategies significantly both in flexibility and effectiveness. © 2024 IEEE Computer Society. All rights reserved.

Due to the difficulty of performing repairs during flight, spacecraft is operated according to operational scenarios tested before launch. Operational models, a type of SysML activity diagram, can be used to depict these scenarios. Although it aids in communication between engineers and stakeholders, the activity diagram can rapidly grow rather large. Due to the extensive operational model, it is therefore challenging to review the activity diagram, which could result in serious issues. Therefore, to make operational models easier to evaluate, they should be made concise. This study offers a metamodel that offers stereotypes that can succinctly characterize spacecraft operational scenarios. First, a mind map was used to depict the domain knowledge of spacecraft operations. Second, stereotype metamodel was created by extracting common knowledge from the mind map. Utilizing stereotypes, operational models' size can be decreased;however, crucial review-related data could be lost. Therefore, shrinking stereotypes assures that crucial information would not be lost. Several trials were conducted and showed that the number of elements of operational models with stereotypes, as well as their size, reduced by almost half, compared with the original ones, allowing for a simplified review process and boosting trust in the accuracy of the operational scenarios.

This research paper describes a controlled quasi-experiment conducted with 24 distance-learning undergraduate students on teaching introduction concepts of Experimentation in software engineering (ESE) with different materials and procedures. The use of experimentation is a de facto way of obtaining data to statistically answer assumptions or concerns, especially in recent decades in the software engineering area. The ESE teaching-learning process in undergraduate and graduate programs still lacks evidence of its effective contribution. For instance, no study explores different ways of giving classes, such as traditional in-person or distance education (online). Our focus in this research is answering the following research question: 'Is there any difference in applying three different sets of materials in teaching and learning introduction concepts of experimentation in software engineering for distance-learning undergraduate students?'. We used three different combinations of materials during learning (i.e., only slides, only recorded class, and both). We conducted activities with such materials in a higher education institution. Despite being incipient, the results demonstrate that in each group/profile of enrolled students, the teaching-learning process mediated by hybrid content (i.e., both slides and recorded classes) had no significant difference concerning students who studied only with recorded classes or slides. The results were obtained using descriptive statistics and inferential (hypothesis) tests. Our contributions here offer evidence-based statistical analysis for ESE education through distance learning, thereby enriching current academic research regarding distance education and facilitating knowledge dissemination in the field. © 2024 IEEE.

Soldering irons are a hand tool that is indispensable in the process of making small series of electronic devices. Soldering irons have evolved from very simple devices without temperature control to devices with complex temperature control. The implementation of temperature control is based on the knowledge of the thermal models of the soldering iron. Thermal models of soldering irons are based either on the theory of thermal fields or on the theory of equivalent Kirchhoff thermal circuits. The theory of thermal fields is applied for very accurate modeling. In doing so, the finite element method (FEM) is used. For the above, it is necessary to use software packages based on FEM. Unlike FEM-based modeling, thermal circuit modeling does not require specialized software tools. It is also possible to derive analytical expressions that describe the thermal process of the soldering iron. In this paper, a thermal model of a soldering iron based on equivalent Kirchhoff thermal circuits is presented. Analytical expressions were derived to describe the thermal transient. The validity of the theoretical model is supported by measurement. Measurements were carried out on two soldering irons from different manufacturers. With the increasing use of machine learning software in our daily life, software fairness has become a growing concern. In this paper, we propose an individual fairness testing technique called KOSEI. Individual fairness is one of the central concepts in software fairness. Testing individual fairness aims to detect individual discriminations included in the software. KOSEI is based on AEQUITAS by Udeshi et al., a landmark fairness testing technique featuring a two-step search strategy of global and local search. KOSEI improves the local search part of AEQUITAS, based on our insight to overcome the limitations of the local search of AEQUITAS. Our experiments show that KOSEI outperforms AEQUITAS by orders of magnitude. KOSEI, on average, detects 5,084.8% more discriminations than AEQUITAS, in just 7.5% of the execution time. © 2022 knowledge Systems Institute Graduate School. All rights reserved.

Nowadays, the vast majority of university careers declare a competency-based curriculum. However, having concrete evidence to measure learning outcomes can be a complex problem in engineering. Academics make great efforts to design active learning experiences to stimulate skills development. However, more evidence is required to describe methodologies integrated with technological tools to evaluate learning outcomes. In this paper, we propose using the Lego Serious Play (LSP) methodology and Multimodal Learning Analytics (MMLA) techniques to assess learning outcomes in the software engineering I course. The results obtained are quite promising since it was possible to identify difficulties in acquiring and applying knowledge. © 2023 IEEE.

User stories are brief descriptions of a system feature told from a user's point of view. During requirements elicitation, users and analysts co-specify these stories using natural language. A number of approaches have tried to use Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to extract different artefacts, such as domain models and conceptual models, and reason about software requirements, including user stories. However, large collections of user story models can be hard to navigate once specified. We extracted different components of user story data, including actors, entities and processes, using NLP techniques and modelled them with graphs. This allows us to organise and link the structures and information in user stories for better analysis by different stakeholders. Our NLP-based automated approach further allows the stakeholders to query the model to view the parts of multiple user stories of interest. This facilitates project development discussions between technical team members, domain experts and users. We evaluated our tool on user story datasets and through a user study. The evaluation of our approach shows an overall precision above 96% and a recall of 100%. The user study with eight participants showed that our querying approach is beneficial in practical contexts.

In the context of the new era, with the continuous development of social economy and information technology, the software and hardware coupling relationship of information system becomes more and more complex, and more and more information is stored in the market, which makes the information system fault more likely to occur and difficult to locate. According to this problem, the knowledge graph construction technology is applied to the information system construction, and the knowledge graph construction technology oriented to fault analysis is proposed, which can not only store and manage large quantities of data information, but also can dig the data rules deeply. Therefore, based on the knowledge graph construction technology, this paper explores the key points of knowledge graph construction technology for fault analysis based on the construction and application of power transmission information system. The final experimental results prove that the knowledge graph and construction technology can more intuitively show the association between faults and early warning, and accurately locate system faults according to the artificial intelligence algorithm, providing data basis for relevant departments. © 2023 SPIE.

With the rapid development of the economy, the demand for electricity of power users is increasing, and the requirements for power supply quality are also increasing. At the same time, the audit work of the project has also increased the requirements, but the grassroots project managers usually lack professional knowledge of power engineering cost, and the preparation of project budgets is often inaccurate. In this paper, by studying the data of historical power technical renovation and maintenance projects and the provisions of maintenance budget preparation and calculation, the cost calculation model of production projects is constructed. based on the results of the calculation model, the auxiliary cost software of production projects is developed to realize the intelligent calculation of production project costs and improve the accuracy and efficiency of production project cost analysis. © 2024 IEEE.
