This article investigated the creative concept of the laser art, centering on the relationship between the artistic application of the laser technology, human beings and environment from the perspective of posthunmanism. Having studied three applications of laser technology in environmental design encompassing remote environmental art, audiovisual installations, and holographic photography with its installations, this article summarized characteristics of the laser art including interactive expression, multimedia convergence and combination of art and science, laying a theoretical explanation premise and creative ideas for the application of laser technology in environmental design, and also provides new ideas and new methods for creative practice of environmental design centered on optical media.

Fires can potentially cause significant harm to both people and the environment. Recently, there has been a growing interest in real-time fire and smoke detection to provide practical assistance. Detecting fires in outdoor areas is crucial to safeguard human lives and the environment. This is especially important in situations where more than traditional smoke detectors may be required. In this work, we propose FIRESTART, which aims to achieve accurate and robust ignition detection for prompt identification and response to fire incidents. The proposed framework utilizes a lightweight deep learning architecture and post-processing techniques for fire-starting interval detection. Its evaluation was conducted on the ONFIRE dataset, comparing it with several state-of-the-art methods. The results are encouraging, particularly from computational and real-time use perspectives.

Existing academic social networks for researchers do not currently address the multitude of their tasks and diverse needs. This paper presents the EPICommunity platform, a social network for researchers designed by researchers. The EPICommunity platform aims to support researchers, particularly early career researchers, to connect with peers, showcase their work and collaborate and create groups. To this end, it provides unique features compared to existing systems, such as Europass profile interoperability, recommendations for researchers with similar interests based on various criteria, gamification mechanics, analytics to monitor researchers' own progress and a multi-dimensional set of researchers' assessment criteria, both quantitative and qualitative. The EPICommunity platform follows a human-centered development model. This paper presents its first iteration. Real-world user requirements were produced from three workshops with 17 researchers from 8 European Universities. Prototypes were also developed and evaluated in these workshops. Finally, a formative expert-based usability evaluation study was conducted. To this end, the heuristic evaluation method was employed involving five experienced usability experts.

Maintaining software is cumbersome when method argument constraints are undocumented. To reveal them, previous work learned preconditions from exemplary valid and invalid method arguments. In practice, it would be highly beneficial to know class invariants, too, because functionality added during software maintenance must not break them. Even more so than method preconditions, class invariants are rarely documented and often cannot completely be inferred automatically, especially for objects exhibiting complex state such as dynamic data structures. This paper presents a novel dynamic approach to learning class invariants, thereby complementing related work on learning method preconditions. We automatically synthesize assertions from an adjustable assertion grammar to distinguish valid and invalid objects. While random walks generate valid objects, a combination of bounded-exhaustive testing techniques and behavioral oracles yield invalid objects. The utility of our approach for code comprehension and software maintenance is demonstrated by comparing our learned invariants to documented invariant validation methods found in real-world Java classes and to the invariants detected by the Daikon tool.

The biofeedback interfaces were initially developed for medical reasons and revolutionized the way we represent the body and its functions due to the possibilities they brought to expand, conceptualize, investigate, and present body information through sounds and images. Biofeedback interfaces outside the medical context demand new interaction paradigms that radicalize the relationship between the body and the machine. The appropriation of the biofeedback technology by artists resulted in an artistic-scientific research program named biofeedback art or biosignal art, which involves, above all, transdisciplinary practices. Such a transdisciplinary aspect is explained: biofeedback art is inspired by applied techno-science research while contributing to and informing part of them since it deals with interoception, perception, and cognitive processes in general. Biofeedback art should not be seen only as a specialized technical operation field but also as an area of inventiveness and cultural criticism. The paper presents an overview of biofeedback art, focusing on its emergence in the 1960s and 1970s, and its transdisciplinary contributions. The historical research methodology and a narrative and systematic literature review guide the study.
