Can tangible computer music interfaces inspire creativity and enhance artistic stage performances for visually impaired and blind musicians? What are the benefits of engaging with tangible interfaces in the context of computer music and accessibility? This paper presents the research project Tangible Signals and its results. It summarizes the research process including the development of an accessible music software, the design of three tangible user interfaces and their use in workshops, expert feedback sessions and artistic live performances by visually impaired and blind individuals. The resulting material is grouped into four key topics and will be presented in detail. This includes a discussion of inclusion and computer music, sonic interaction with tangible interfaces, observations of artistic practice and suggestions for future use cases.

This study explores the Norwegian gendered term of gut-tastemning through the design and creation of a digital box (the "Gut-tastemning Box") that captures moments of lively and cheerful atmosphere when a group of people is having a great time together. The paper recognizes the importance of capturing and reliving such moments, emphasizing the challenges posed by the digital era, such as fluctuations in emotions, digital overload, and the lack of emotional resonance in digital photos. We carried out a Research through Design (RtD) process to assess the effectiveness of the Guttastemning Box in capturing and preserving these moments while fostering emotional connections. We evaluated this artifact through a pilot study in a natural setting in addition to a pre- and post-questionnaire. The results shed light on the Guttastemning Box's ability to capture and preserve guttastemning moments, as well as foster connections. The box has shown promising results, with high overall impressions, positive usability feedback, and intention to use among participants.

As software applications get increasingly connected and complex, cybersecurity becomes more and more important to consider during development and evaluation. Software engineers need to be aware of various security threats and the countermeasures that can be taken to mitigate them. Currently, there is a lack of guidance for software engineers aiming to develop secure web applications. We conducted a design science research study, resulting in a set of guidelines to aid software engineers in developing secure web applications. The set of guidelines was constructed based on interview data with 10 industry practitioners. These guidelines were then evaluated using a survey with 28 respondents. Our results indicate that these proposed guidelines can be applied by software engineers to support the development and assessment of secure web applications in different stages of the software development lifecycle.

The designing of inclusive and immersive user interfaces (UIs) for virtual and augmented reality (VR, AR) systems is critical for providing a comfortable and efficient experience for all users and remains a challenge for the Human-computer Interaction (HCI) community. This task is challenged by two key factors typically unknown at design time: 1) the context of use;and 2) the capabilities and attributes of the user. In this paper, we first use techniques from design engineering to systematically investigate the design parameters that dominate user performance and comfort when interacting with UI layouts. Second, we introduce LimberUI: a novel model-based 3D UI layout design toolkit that can create layouts that accommodate the context of deployment as well as the unique perceptual, cognitive, and physical capabilities of the user.
