Avionics Full Duplex Switched Ethernet (AFDX) technology, AFDX bus has become one of the most advanced aviation buses in the field of airborne networks due to its high real-time, high reliability, and low latency, and is currently widely used in advanced civil aviation passenger aircraft such as A380 and B787 [1]. The function of the AFDX network-side system-on-chip is to ensure the safe and reliable transmission of data between avionics systems, and it is also widely used in civil airliners, so it is important to verify it. However, due to its complex design, traditional chip verification methods cannot find chip problems in time, so it is particularly important to use virtual simulation technology to verify it. © 2024 SPIE.

Development of an assessment method for energy performance of residential buildings using G-SEED in South Korea

A new assessment method for the "Energy Performance" issue in the Green Standard for Energy and Environmental Design (G-SEED) was developed in this study. First, the corresponding issues in green building rating systems in advanced countries were reviewed and analysed, and then a new assessment method that uses dynamic building energy simulation programs was developed. The most important part of the new method was developing guidelines for modelling a reference building using simulation programs. Therefore, details of the simulation inputs for a reference building model were provided, and new guidelines were developed in this study. To evaluate the new assessment method, it was applied to a multi-residential building in Seoul, South Korea, and the results were compared to those from the current assessment method in G-SEED.

Optimisation of energy consumption using building information modelling technology

The energy consumption of the whole life cycle of the existing buildings in China exceeds 50% of the total energy consumption of the society. With the rapid development of the construction industry, this proportion is still growing. On the whole, there is a lack of analysis of the factors related to energy consumption and comfort in the process of building scheme design at this stage. In addition, designers have insufficient understanding of the theoretical system of low-energy buildings, and it is difficult to optimise the scheme throughout the design. To solve these problems, this research first proposes an integrated design method of green buildings based on building information modelling technology. This method integrates and shares engineering information, problem solving, simulation tools, architectural model applications and architectural team communication platforms, which can effectively address the problem that the current green building projects do not belong to each other when designing. The research also proposes a multi-objective optimisation algorithm based on the genetic algorithm. The proposed method optimises the overall design of green buildings, particularly the design of natural lighting, starting from the influence relationship between targets and targets and between targets and enclosure systems. To obtain the optimal effect, the virtual function of Traind was selected as the training function after testing. In addition, the model obtained a reasonable range of design parameters according to the energy consumption of the building in the uncomfortable time. Finally, the method proposed in the study was tested. The experimental results showed that compared with the overall energy consumption of the initial scheme, that of the optimised scheme was reduced by 10.46%;the natural light coefficient increased by 0.44%;and the pressure differeces pascal hours (PDPH) was optimised by 5.38%. A 2.5D hybrid SBM-MFS methodology for elastic wave propagation problems

This paper proposes a novel hybrid methodology that combines the singular boundary method (SBM) and the method of fundamental solutions (MFS) for the computational simulation of elastic wave propagation. Particularly, the methodology aims to address radiation or scattering problems of longitudinally invariant systems in the wavenumber-frequency domain involving boundaries with intricate geometries. The approach uses the SBM to deal with the complex parts of these geometries and the MFS for the smooth ones. The method is studied in the framework of three case studies involving longitudinally infinite cavities in a homogeneous full-space with circular, square-shaped and five-cusped hypocycloid cross-sections. These three examples are selected to assess the accuracy and robustness of the hybrid SBM-MFS approach in comparison with alternative modelling strategies. The comparisons show that the proposed method inherits the accuracy of the MFS while keeping the robustness of the SBM when dealing with complex geometries. The method is found to be computationally more efficient than the SBM or the boundary element method (BEM). Moreover, the hybrid approach naturally mitigates the effect of fictitious eigenfrequencies, a feature that neither conventional versions of the SBM nor the BEM have.

Study of PID controller gain for active vibration control using FEM based particle swarm optimization in COMSOL multiphysics

Proportional integral derivative (PID) controllers are widely used to solve different control engineering problems. To know the dynamic behaviour of a working plant by mathematical modelling is quite challenging. Finite element method (FEM) is a well-known technique and broadly used for the modelling of engineering systems. This article presents the FEM-based heuristic approach to design and optimize the PID controllers. The ‘allowed area method’ has been used for the formulation of the objective function followed by the tuning of the PID controller. First, the proposed approach is tested on 2-degree of freedom (DOF) mass-spring-damper (MSD) system. FEM modelling of 2-DOF MSD system with PID controller has been carried out in COMSOL Multiphysics and coupling of particle swarm optimization (PSO) has been carried out with the FEM model of the MSD system, for the optimization of PID controller gain. The FEM results are in good agreement with the analytical one. Next, the established method is applied to design and optimize the PID controller gain to control the vibration of a cantilever beam using piezoelectric actuator. Similar to the MSD system, FEM modelling of PID controller for the smart beam has been carried out in COMSOL Multiphysics, and the coupling of PSO is carried out with the FEM model of the smart beam for the optimization of PID controller gain. simulation of the uncontrolled and controlled responses of the smart beam is carried out at the optimum controller gain for free vibration and step excitation. The piezoelectric actuator of smart beam has successfully damped the vibration within approximately 2.5 s. © The Author(s) 2022.

To ensure the stable operation of overhead transmission lines, this paper proposes an intelligent monitoring and management platform for overhead transmission lines based on advanced technology. Based on digital twin technology, the platform constructs real and highly simulated transmission line scenes, and at the same time combines transmission line ontology modelling, tree growth prediction, real-time access and display of channel monitoring data, conductor arc droop simulation and wind deviation calculation, capacity increase analysis of carrying capacity, tower force simulation, early warning analysis and other functions, which comprehensively improves the monitoring and management level of transmission lines. Through this platform, operators can monitor the status of transmission lines in real time, quickly find potential problems and take corresponding measures. The application of prediction algorithms makes the prediction of the growth of surrounding vegetation more accurate, effectively preventing the impact of vegetation on transmission lines. Functions such as conductor arc sag simulation, wind deviation calculation and tower force simulation provide scientific basis for the safety and stability of transmission lines. © 2024 IEEE.

Current article reviews and analyzes interdependence of input variables of railway point electric heating control system. problems of inefficient point electric heating control systems are described. Different input variables, their membership functions are described and researched. The inefficiency of use of one universal point electric heating control algorithm is discussed. As a basis of used research, a brief introduction to fuzzy logic is given. Next, as a research of proposed method detailed study of the complex effect of different input parameters is performed to create fuzzy logic model and assess its effectiveness. As a result of simulation, plot in the form of surface view is created that shows strong dependence of snow and temperature variables. Questions of modelling of additional advanced systems in the proposed system's network and the outcome are discussed in conclusion section. © 2021 IEEE.

Physics-Informed Neural Network water surface predictability for 1D steady-state open channel cases with different flow types and complex bed profile shapes

The behavior of many physical systems is described by means of differential equations. These equations are usually derived from balance principles and certain modelling assumptions. For realistic situations, the solution of the associated initial boundary value problems requires the use of some discretization technique, such as finite differences or finite volumes. This research tackles the numerical solution of a 1D differential equation to predict water surface profiles in a river, as well as to estimate the so-called roughness parameter. A very important concern when solving this differential equation is the ability of the numerical model to capture different flow regimes, given that hydraulic jumps are likely to be observed. To approximate the solution, Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINN) are used. Benchmark cases with different bed profile shapes, which induce different flows types (supercritical, subcritical, and mixed) are tested first. Then a real mountain river morphology, the so-called Step-pool, is studied. PINN models were implemented in Tensor Flow using two neural networks. Different numbers of layers and neurons per hidden layer, as well as different activation functions (AF), were tried. The best performing model for each AF (according to the loss function) was compared with the solution of a standard finite difference discretization of the steady-state 1D model (HEC-RAS model). PINN models show good predictability of water surface profiles for slowly varying flow cases. For a rapid varying flow, the location and length of the hydraulic jump is captured, but it is not identical to the HEC-RAS model. The predictability of the tumbling flow in the Step-pool was good. In addition, the solution of the estimation of the roughness parameter (which is an inverse problem) using PINN shows the potential of this methodology to calibrate this parameter with limited cross-sectional data.
