The enormous growth of digital music databases has led to a comparable growth in the need for methods that help users organize and access such information. One area in particular that has seen much recent research activity is the use of automated techniques to describe audio content and to allow its identification, browsing and retrieval. This paper presents algorithms for audio content analysis, description and identification that are developed and implemented in the context of the AXMEDIS project.

Cloud-based video summarization is an increasingly popular technique for managing large video repositories more efficiently. In this research, we present a novel approach for cloud-based video summarization that focuses on reducing storage costs and improving accessibility by automatically extracting critical information from videos and generating brief summaries. Our approach leverages cloud computing technology and deep learning algorithms for video analysis and processing. We evaluate the effectiveness of our approach using a realworld dataset of video files and demonstrate that it can generate high-quality video summaries while significantly reducing storage requirements. Our proposed approach has potential applications in areas such as security monitoring, video surveillance, and multimediacontent management. This paper contributes to the existing literature by presenting a comprehensive study of cloud-based video summarization and proposing a novel solution that addresses the limitations of existing approaches, thereby improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of video management.

A promising class of nonlinear multiuser detectors is introduced for CDMA systems. These "iterated-decision" multiuser detectors use optimized multipass algorithms to successively cancel multiple-access interference (MAI) from received data and generate symbol decisions whose reliability increases monotonically with each iteration. They significantly outperform decorrelating detectors and linear minimum mean-square error (MMSE) multiuser detectors, but have the same order of computational complexity., When the ratio of the number of users to the spreading factor is below a certain threshold, iterated-decision multiuser detectors asymptotically achieve the performance of the "optimum" multiuser detector, i.e., maximum-likelihood (ML) decoding.

This paper presents algorithms and principles for the management of large scale broadband multimedia services. For the implementation of these services we use a network of distributed media servers, storing broadband media information e.g. audio and video that are streamed from the server to the connected clients. The problem studied in this paper is the managing of media content on a server network. We present the 'Distributed Server Management System (DSMS)' that performs an efficient content and service management on the distributed servers. The DSMS allows to collect access patterns from the users of the multimedia services and uses this knowledge for the solution of some combinatorial optimization algorithms that have to be solved for an efficient assignment of media assets. We present these optimization algorithms and evaluate their performance using some benchmark instances.

As the number of mobile services grows, mobile users who gain access to the Internet via mobile devices are increasing. accessibility refers to providing functionality to smart phone apps (and web) so that all human can accesscontents/service/products on the Internet regardless their age and disability. accessibility support is essential for mobile users owing to the unique nature and capabilities of mobile devices, such as smaller screens, touch and gesture interface, and built-in screen readers specific to operating systems. The latest mobile device usage statistics showed that between the two different mobile channels, mobile apps and mobile webs, consumers spend most of their time in mobile apps. accessibility of apps in a smartphone is more important than ever as more people use a smartphone apps to consume content/ service/ product on the Internet. Automated tools for mobile apps that evaluate compliance with accessibility standards are still scarce. This makes it difficult for developers who are unfamiliar with accessibility needs to ensure their apps are accessible by everyone. While the prototype does not include all the functions, it demonstrates that it is feasible to develop a full version of an automatic assessment tool for smartphone apps, which is an under-researched area. This paper designs an accessibility evaluation tool that checks mobile apps for conformance with accessibility standards, and develops a prototype of the evaluation tool. The proposed tool verifies the existence (or nonexistence) of alternative text for non-text content, which is an important accessibility factor for visually impaired users. It discovers missing alternative text by checking the contentDescription attribute of the ImageView element in Android XML files.

In India a temple is not only a structure of religious significance and celebration, but it also plays an important role in the social, administrative and cultural life of the locality. Temples have served as centers for learning Indian scriptures. Music and dance were fostered and performed in the precincts of the temples. Built at the end of the 10th century, the Brihadisvara temple signified new design methodologies. We have access to a large number of images, audio and video recordings, architectural drawings and scholarly publications of this temple. A multimedia system for this temple is being designed which is intended to be used for the following purposes: (i) to inform and enrich the general public, and (ii) to assist the scholars in their research. Such a system will also preserve and archive old historical documents and images. The large database consists primarily of images which can be retrieved using keywords, but the emphasis here is largely on techniques which will allow access using image content. Besides classifying images as either long shots or close-ups, deformable template matching is used for shape-based query by image content, and digital video retrieval. Further, to exploit the non-linear accessibility of video sequences, key frames are determined to aid the domain experts in getting a quick preview of the video. Our database also has images of several old, and rare manuscripts many of which are noisy and difficult to read. We have enhanced them to make them more legible. We are also investigating the optimal trade-off between image quality and compression ratios.
