In recent years, more and more people capture their experiences in home videos. However, home video editing still is a difficult and time-consuming task. We present the Edit While Watching system that allows users to automatically create and change a summary of a home video in an easy, intuitive and lean-back way. Based on content analysis, video is indexed, segmented, and combined with proper music and editing effects. The result is an automatically generated home video summary that is shown to the user. While watching it, users can indicate whether they like certain content, so that the system will adapt the summary to contain more content that is similar or related to the displayed content. During the video playback users can also modify and enrich the content, seeing immediately the effects of their changes. Edit While Watching does not require a complex user interface: a TV and a few keys of a remote control are sufficient. A user study has shown that it is easy to learn and to use, even if users expressed the need for more control in the editing operations and in the editing process.

Advancement in digital technologies presents a user-friendly environment for the digital content distribution. However, it makes digital content prone to piracy issues. Digital rights management (DRM) systems aim to ensure the authorized content usage. As the digital content broadcasts through the public network, a secure and authorized content access mechanism is required. As digital media users are increasing, data centers draw vast amounts of power to manage consumer demands for instant access. Thus, design of efficient protocols is required for digital industry. Several authenticated content key distribution frameworks have been introduced for DRM systems to support efficient computing and mutual authentication. The main focus of recent devolvement is security and energy consumption by increasing communication and computing efficiency. Most of the existing DRM models efficiently address the consumer concerns and make the system user-friendly and computationally efficient. Thus, it is essential to analyze the security, efficiency, and related issues in the existing framework before adopting them for a DRM system. This article presents a study on the existing authenticated content key distribution frameworks of DRM systems. It proves the vulnerabilities of the existing structures against known attacks and challenges in their implementation. It also discusses the desirable attributes of DRM systems and provides possible future direction.

We propose a method the for semi-automatic organization of photo albums. The method analyzes how different users organize their own pictures. The goal is to help the user in dividing his pictures into groups characterized by a similar semantic content. The method is semi-automatic: the user starts to assign labels to the pictures and unlabeled pictures are tagged with proposed labels. The user can accept the recommendation or made a correction. We use a suitable feature representation of the images to model the different classes that the users have collected. Then, we look for correspondences between the criteria used by the different users which are integrated using boosting. A quantitative evaluation of the proposed approach is obtained by simulating the amount of user interaction needed to annotate the albums of a set of members of the flickr (R) photo-sharing community.

Semantic access to the content of a video is highly desirable for multimedia content retrieval. Automatic extraction of semantics requires content analysis algorithms. Our MoCA (Movie content Analysis) project provides an interactive workbench supporting the researcher in the development of new movie content analysis algorithms. The workbench offers data management facilities for large amounts of video/audio data and derived parameters. It also provides an easy-to-use interface for a free combination of basic operators into more sophisticated operators. We can combine results from video track and audio track analysis. The MoCA Workbench shields the researcher from technical details and provides advanced visualization capabilities, allowing attention to focus on the development of new algorithms. The paper presents the design and implementation of the MoCA Workbench and reports practical experience.

Interactive panoramic systems are currently on the rise. However, one of the major challenges in such a system is the overhead involved in transferring a full-quality panorama to the client when only a part of the panorama is used to extract a virtual view. Thus, such a system should maximize the user experience while simultaneously minimizing the bandwidth required. In this paper, we apply tiling to deliver different quality levels for different parts of the panorama. Tiling has traditionally been applied to the delivery of very high-resolution content to clients. Here, we apply similar ideas in a real-time interactive panoramic video system. A major challenge lies in the movement of such a virtual view, for which clients' regions of interest change dynamically and independently from each other. We show that our algorithms, which progressively increase in quality toward the point of the view, manage to (i) reduce the bandwidth requirement and (ii) provide a similar quality of experience (QoE) compared to a full panorama system.

An Unmanned Intelligent Transportation Scheduling System for Open-Pit Mine Vehicles Based on 5G and Big Data

With the maturity of the Internet of Things, 5G communication, big data and artificial intelligence technologies, open-pit mine intelligent transportation systems based on unmanned vehicles has become a trend in smart mine construction. Traditional open-pit mine transportation systems rely on human power for command, which often causes vehicle delay and congestion. The operation of unmanned vehicles in an open pit mine relies on many sensors. Using big data from the sensors, we optimize vehicle paths and build an efficient intelligent transportation system. Based on large amounts of data, such as unmanned vehicle GPS data, vehicle equipment information, production plan data, etc., with the goal of reducing vehicle transportation costs, total unmanned vehicle delay time, and ore content fluctuation rate, a multi-objective intelligent scheduling model for open-pit mine unmanned vehicles was established, and it is aligned with actual open pit mine production. Next, we use artificial intelligence algorithms to solve the scheduling problem. To improve the convergence, distribution and diversity of the classical fast non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-ii) to solve constrained high-dimensional multi-objective problems, we propose a decomposition-based constrained dominance principle genetic algorithm (DBCDP-NSGA-ii), retaining feasible and non-feasible solutions in sparse areas, and compare it with four other commonly-used multi-objective optimization algorithms. Simulation analysis shows our algorithm provides the best overall performance results of the multi-objective models. Furthermore, we apply intelligent scheduling models and optimization algorithms to mining practice and obtain new truck operation routes and schedules, reducing truck operation costs by 18.2%, truck waiting time by 55.5%, and ore content fluctuation by 40.3%. For open-pit mine unmanned transportation, the approach provides a variety of optimized solutions for minimum transportation costs,

The focus of this paper is to facilitate access into an important class of multimedia content: unscripted and causally shot home videos. Unlike scripted video (such as movies and commercials), video that has been shot for the simple purpose of recording an event or place has no structure to facilitate its access. Our approach to tackling the unstructured video problem is to use clustering techniques to create multiple groupings of the video. We describe two clustering algorithms in this paper, which assume fairly general probability density descriptions of video. In addition, we describe an application built upon these clustering algorithms that enables browsing and rescripting unstructred content.

With the proliferation of cameras in handheld devices that allows users to capture still images and videos, providing users with software tools to efficiently manage multimedia content has become essential. In many cases users desire to organize their personal media content using high-level semantic labels. In this paper we will describe low-complexity algorithms that can be used to derive semantic labels, such as "indoor/outdoor," "face/not face," and "motion/not motion" for mobile video sequences. We will also describe a method for summarizing mobile video sequences. We demonstrate the classification performance of the methods and their computational complexity using a typical processor used in many mobile terminals.

We present standards-compliant visible watermarking schemes for digital images and video in DCT-based compressed formats. The watermarked data is in the same compressed format as the original and can be viewed with standard tools and applications. Moreover, for most of the schemes presented, the watermarked data has exactly the same compressed size as the original. The watermark can be inserted and removed using a key for applications requiring content protection. The watermark application and removal algorithms are very efficient and exploit some features of compressed data formats (such as JPEG and MPEG) which allow most of the work to be done in the compressed domain.
