Requirements engineering has been extensively developed as a discipline. Many statistics on the software development indicate requirements process is the most influential to both success and failure of software development. However, practitioners are still difficult to learn and apply requirements engineering. As a guideline for practitioners to learn and apply requirements engineering, we developed REBOK (Requirements engineering Body Of knowledge). In the development, we found there is no common model of BOKs in software engineering. This article proposes the model and architecture of the body of knowledge of REBOK and its proof of the concept.

Dependability, which is regarded to be an integrative concept characterized by properties such as reliability, safety, security, and maintainability, has been paid more and more attentions recently. However, it has not been followed with enough interest by traditional requirements engineering approaches. This paper proposes a knowledge based approach for dependability requirements elicitations. This approach argues that the knowledge captured from the data about software failure can be utilized for the dependable system development. A classification scheme of the threats to system dependability has been given and a meta-model of the depend ability-related knowledge has been built. On the basis of the unified model of dependability (UMD), this paper utilizes the knowledge to help the elicitation of stakeholders' requirements on the system dependability. An online banking system has been used for illustrating the feasibility of our approach.

Recovering domain knowledge from legacy code plays an important role in the new information technology era, which can be of help for program understanding, system evolution and software reuse. Traditional methods for domain knowledge recovery from source code did nor sufficiently address the issue of ambiguity handling, in particular;the propagation of ambiguity among multiple domain knowledge slices recovered from source code in software reverse engineering process. In this paper;we present a novel approach to recovering unambiguous domain knowledge from legacy code, where isolated ambiguous domain knowledge slices are "fused" together in an iterative ambiguity propagation process and hence the disambiguity of these recovered knowledge slices is increased.

software development is a knowledge intensive activity and software developers are knowledge workers. knowledge needed for software development is often distributed among different developers. Supporting efficient knowledge collaboration and transfer is thus essential for software development organizations to remain competitive. This paper proposes a new theory-dynamic community to support knowledge collaboration and discusses its application in software development. Dynamic community integrates the traditional knowledge management approach in which knowledge is formalized and accumulated in knowledge repositories, and the community-based knowledge collaboration approach in which knowledge is transferred through informal community participation and human contacts. The dynamic community theory takes into full consideration individual knowledge workers' ever-changing needs for new knowledge as well as the role of social relationship of knowledge workers in effective knowledge collaboration. This paper introduces the dynamic community theory, a general system architecture Of sociotechnical environments in support of dynamic community, and its application in software development.

Continuous Delivery (CD) aims at reducing the cycle time from changes to software release while also increasing the software quality. To automate CD, delivery process models, defining all delivery activities need to be designed. Quality properties of delivery process models, such as maintainability, still oppose challenges. Previous research indicates that the quality of such models can be improved by aligning them with the software architecture. While software architecture knowledge is only incorporated implicitly, deep technical and process knowledge is required. On this basis, this paper introduces a new kind of delivery process models that focus mainly on software architecture knowledge. Hereby, we discard the current activity-centric view and shift to an artifact-centric view. Moreover, we outsource the required process- and technical knowledge to a transformation activities knowledge base. In order to make an artifact-based delivery process model executable, we provide a model-to-model transformation which constructs a CD pipeline from an artifact-based model with the help of the transformation activities knowledge base. We evaluated our approach by conducting a small industrial qualitative user study. It showed that low-experienced developers benefit from the reduced knowledge requirements of the artifact-based modeling approach.

The architecture of software systems should be well documented and up to date. knowledge about the software architecture of a software system enables reasoning regarding the software's qualities such as modifiability, extensibility, security, etc. However, very often the architecture is only described during the initial phases of a software project and then undergoes progressive degradation. A degenerated architecture description cannot be used for reasoning regarding the qualities of the software, even if it possibly conveys the required functionality. This paper proposes an approach for a continuous model-based monitoring and semi-automatic evaluation of software architectures, meant to support the architecture-based evolution of software systems at various abstraction levels. knowledge management nowadays usually focuses on the choice among some models or methodologies as a whole, but not on some specific, quantitative contributions of particular goals of the organization. Such a simplification misses some important chances for knowledge integration and transformation. What's worse, this simplification depresses the motivation of team members to accumulate and use the knowledge. In this paper, we propose a knowledge management framework which features in its goal-driven philosophy to manage project development, organize the knowledge and effectively integrate the knowledge management process into the development process. This method helps software project teams comprehensively and systematically identify and track knowledge management goals as far as possible. With a common framework, an organization is able to exchange knowledge and expertise within itself, which helps to glue the company together;while at the same time ensures that knowledge is shared over time so that the company benefits from past experience. Team members come to a common understanding on how to accumulate knowledge by establishing goals and corresponding solutions to meet the goals, and this consensus and clear vision on knowledge management motivates members to create knowledge and reduce the "gulf" between knowledge creation and application. It was successfully applied in several projects of different companies. The framework helps them establish an initial knowledge and experience repository. software engineers are able to have more information available than they could understand and apply.

software engineering today is heavily focused on the ideas of process maturity and continuous improvement. Processes are designed to deliver products. Process engineering should ideally rest on theoretical foundations of sound product engineering;however the field is currently lacking such foundations. Drawing inspiration from compiler design, we present a systematic framework for software product engineering that develops the product through successive levels of realization. The framework separates the concerns in software development by relating each level to a knowledge domain and localizing exactly on those qualities that become manifest in that knowledge domain. The basis of the framework is a mathematical model for reasoning about the correctness of realization schemes as well as the transformations between levels, so that each level preserves previously created qualities while adding new desired qualities. We also discuss some of the practical aspects of implementing this approach.

Domain concepts and taxonomic relationships are an essential part of a domain ontology. They are used in a number of applications, including natural language processing, information retrieval, knowledge management and so on. Nowadays, with the continuous permeation of various kinds of Internet knowledge applications, numerous new concepts are emerged and released on to the Internet. So, the Internet has become an invaluable source of new concepts for almost every possible domain of knowledge. In order to ensure the domain ontologies keep pace with fast changing knowledge, we proposed an web searching based concepts and taxonomic relationships discovering approach. By our approach, the potential concepts on the Internet, which are taxonomically related with the give seeds concepts, can be discovered autonomously and iteratively. In this paper, the approach and a corresponding application in Chinese web pages are reported in detail. The experiments show that, our approach can catch the related domain concepts precisely, meanwhile, can reject irrelevant concepts and figure out the domain knowledge border definitely.
