The online game industry is an emerging entertainment software industry. It is successful and fast growing. Prior studies have identified characteristics of this industry that are distinctive from traditional entertainment industries. Currently one of the most important business challenges this industry faces is securing investments for development or evaluation of development projects. An online game development project requires large-scale investments during production and initial marketing stage. The reason for this challenge lies in difficulties in forecasting future market success of online games. Hence, capital market is desperately seeking good signals of quality of projects. We maintain that stock price reaction is one of signals generated by market evaluation. We analyze the relationship between events that occurred in the development process, such as the game content rating information or public announcements, and stock market prices of the online game companies. We examine the information of 10 online game companies that are listed on Korean stock markets between the periods of 2002 to 2009. In this study we adopt event study methodology, which is widely used in finance and MIS literature. Our results show positive and significant correlation between the game rating events and stock price reaction. We show the existence of direct network externalities, positive stock price reaction of casual games, and companies that have development organizations or adopt vertical integration model are preferred in the market. Finally we suggest implications that may improve the value of the online game industry.

Development maintenance training for electronic equipment is the important way to solve the difficult of electronic equipment maintenance and problem of iridescent method of maintenance training. The technical characteristics of the maintenance system for electronic equipment are analyzed in this paper. A maintenance training teaching system for electronic equipment with unity hardware and common software platform is researched. The hardware structure and the development method of its software are discussed in this paper. The teaching system possesses characters such as real physics signal,multi method of human-computer interaction,well results of learning best,easy to development, etc. The teaching system is mainly composed of the following: motherboard, equipment operation panel, equipment component, lights and buttons etc. Its software is based on a common database. When we need development a teaching system for new equipment, we just add some data to the database using the development platform and need not modify its software. Practice shows that the teaching system uses a common hardware design and software platform, greatly reducing the development workload of a new teaching system using the architecture.

Teamwork skills are important and even essential for softwareengineering professionals. Although there are rich research results on teamwork skill development and assessment in other engineering disciplines, more research is required on effective approaches in softwareengineering education as teamwork plays a more fundamental role with some special requirements. This paper presents a novel assessment approach for teamwork performance in softwareengineering education. The approach has been used in several softwareengineering courses and the results are positive and promising. A novel feature of the approach is that it encourages and supports student active and collaborative learning by using an approach specially assessing teamwork performance of a team and each team member of the team. Another feature is that it can be tailored to different requirements and softwareengineering courses. We illustrate the approach by a case that uses the approach in software project management course. Limitations of the approach and further work are also discussed.

Load testing is an important phase in the software development process. It is very time consuming but there is usually little time for it. As a solution to the tight testing schedule, software companies automate their testing procedures. However, existing automation only reduces the time required to run load tests. The analysis of the test results is still performed manually. A typical load test outputs thousands of performance counters. Analyzing these counters manually requires time and tacit knowledge of the system-under-test from the performance engineers. The goal of this study is to derive an approach to automatically verify load tests' results. We propose an approach based on a statistical quality control technique called control charts. Our approach can a) automatically determine if a test run passes or fails and b) identify the subsystem where performance problem originated. We conduct two case studies on a large commercial telecommunication software and an open-source software system to evaluate our approach. Our results warrant further development of control chart based techniques in performance verification.
