Approaching the configuration of non-functional properties (NFPs) in traditional software systems is not an easy task, addressing the configuration of these properties in software product lines (SPLs) imposes even further challenges. Therefore, we have devised the Feedback Approach, which extends the traditional SPL development techniques in order to improve the configuration of NFPs. In this work we present the general guidelines of our approach and also we show the feasibility of the idea by presenting a case study using the Linux Kernel.

The electrode displacement signal of resistance spot welding process is monitored and mapped into a 15×25 element bipolarized matrix by means of some method of fuzzy theory. The electrode displacement pattern matrixes from different welding current are treated as gene to construct chromosome. The genetic K-means algorithm(GKA), which combines the simplicity of the K-means algorithm and the robust nature of the genetic algorithm, is utilized to realize clustering analysis and quality estimation of welded spots. The results of the clustering analysis indicate that the electrode displacement pattern matrix can provide adequate quality information of welded spots for machine learning and the method avoids complicated programming work. At the same time, compared with the conventional K-means algorithm, the GKA method has a strong ability to find the global optimal solutions and be able to quickly and effectively complete the clustering task under small sample circumstance. The results of clustering can realize quality estimation of the resistance spot welding and also can be used as a prior knowledge to provide the necessary support for the supervised machine learning to evaluate the weld quality.

The automated synthesis of software architecture design and associated work allocation plan is considered, given the requirements of the system and a specification of the available, possibly distributed development teams. The technique applies genetic algorithms, with mutations introducing changes both in the architectural solutions and in the work allocation schemes. The technique is implemented and evaluated using a non-trivial example system, the control system of an electronic home. The results suggest that genetic algorithms are a viable approach to solve this kind of multi-targeted optimization problem, assuming that the architectural quality and work allocation fitness can be given appropriate metrics.

the Internet has been becoming the most important infrastructure for distributed applications which are composed of online services. In such open and dynamic environment, service selection becomes a challenge. The approaches based on subjective trust models are more adaptive and efficient than traditional binary logic based approaches. Most well known trust models use probability or fuzzy set theory to hold randomness or fuzziness respectively. Only cloud model based models consider both aspects of uncertainty. Although cloud model is ideal for representing trust degrees, it is not efficient for context aware trust evaluation and dynamic updates. By contrast, Bayesian network as an uncertain reasoning tool is more efficient for dynamic trust evaluation. An uncertain trust model that combines cloud model and Bayesian network is proposed in this paper.

This paper describes a system that supports to generate the software tag which makes software development visible to software purchaser (users). A software tag is a partial set of empirical data about a software development project shared between the purchaser and developer. The purchaser uses the software tag to evaluate the software project, allowing them to recognize the quality level of the processes and products involved. In order to implement the mechanism to use the software tag effectively, it is necessary to support generating the software tag. We have implemented a system named CollectTag that supports to collect data and generate the software tag. We conducted a case study to evaluate the usefulness of CollectTag and generated software tag. The results show that using CollectTag requires low cost to generate the software tag.

These multimodel environments raise several challenges;selection and composition of models are not straightforward tasks. This paper proposes an approach to help address these challenges by comparing models at a quantitative level. We propose a characterization of size of a model as a measure of scope coverage and detail of descriptions when compared to a reference model and model complexity in terms of architectural structural connectedness. historically, municipal solid waste management infrastructure was provided by the public sector throughout the world. The public sector is primarily responsible for the coordination and monitoring of required services such as waste collection, treatment and disposal. In practice, municipal authorities aggregate the demand for residual municipal waste management services and make the classical make-or-buy decision as principals of the transaction, i.e. they can decide whether to provide waste management services themselves or to engage external organizations. Therefore Optimization under uncertain module is an important approach for the planning of environmental system where many parameters, objectives and their interrelationships are uncertain. This module integrates the information on locations of ports and distances between the centers of population density and waste treatment plants from the GIS module. The other information like quantity of solid waste, vehicle technical data (capacity, fuel consumption, and emissions), inland water port and ship information are integrated which are needed by the module. The problem that is being analyzed here belongs to the class of linear mixed integer programming problems. LINGO optimization software uses branch and bound methods to solve problems of this problem.
