Design patterns have been widely accepted as a solution for solving recurring design problems in object-oriented development. Reifications of design patterns can vary from one development environment to another, and use of inappropriate reifications may impose a serious threat to quality of a software system. In this paper, we propose an approach to applying the profile mechanism in reifying a design pattern. Central to this approach are stereotypes that are defined in a profile and used to represent different roles in a design pattern. Developers can apply these stereotypes in their application model when design patterns are used. The advantage of the profile mechanism is that developers can 1) define their own reification of a pattern in a profile based on a specific software system, and 2) find errors in an application model via the conformance checking of the model against the profile. More importantly, we apply our existing tool called ICER, which is based on the profile mechanism, to provide automatic checking for the application of design patterns. To illustrate the advantage of the profile mechanism supported by ICER, we show the different reifications for the Observer pattern. Last, experimental results show that ICER does not suffer from the scalability problem as the size of an application model increases.

Poorly designed software systems are one of main causes of accidents in safety-critical systems, and thus, the importance of safety analysis for software has greatly increased over the recent years. software safety can be improved by analyzing both its desired and undesired behaviors, and this in turn requires expressive power such that both can be modeled. However, there is a considerable gap between modeling methods for desired and undesired behaviors. Therefore, we propose a method to bridge the gap between fault trees (for undesired behavior) and UML state machine diagrams (for desired behavior). More specifically, we present rules and algorithms that facilitate the transformation of a hazard (in the context of fault trees) to a UML state machine diagram. We illustrate our proposed approach via an example on a microwave-oven system. Our proposed transformation can help engineers identify how the hazards may occur, thereby allowing them to prevent the hazard from occurring.

At present, relay protection setting calculation system for power plant has been applied in power plant. It helps people complete relay setting calculation. But there are some problems in the relay protection setting calculation system. For example, it is difficult to update knowledge and can not automatically acquire new knowledge. So the intelligence of the systems is limited. This paper introduces multi-agent into the field of relay protection setting calculation system for power plant. The multi-agent system connects agents which run in different power plants and forms an intelligent system in which each agent can work independently, cooperate and share knowledge with other agents. Agents can be layered and classified through knowledge being shared and verified. After the real-time data of the plants is introduced into relay protection setting calculation system, multi-agent system can use data mining to discover new knowledge. It can greatly improve the intelligence of relay protection setting calculation system.

Nuclear facilities decommissioning is complex system engineering. Many countries have been studying correlative computer technology and have developed some computer system to support nuclear facilities decommissioning. These systems can be used to quantify radioactive waste, to visualize radioactive inventory, to simulate the dismantling plan, to evaluate workload in radiation environments and to optimize the decommissioning plan. The paper analyzed several correlative researches of other countries and studied the actuality of 101 research reactor of China. Based on above results, the paper proposes and describes in detail a new framework of the Nuclear facilities Decommissioning engineering Support system (NADES) which will serve the 101 reactor decommissioning project. The framework is also recognized by correlative experts.

The navigation and positioning system is the key technology for the robot in the unattended substation to inspect equipments. Therefore, the author makes up the hardware system, which consists of the fiber optic-gyro (FOG), odometric, accelerometer, DGPS receiver and the navigation computer. Also, the software of this integrated navigation and orientation system is designed based on the differential GPS (DGPS) and Dead Reckoning (DR) principle, the system adopts the method of the self-north-seeker and switching-integrated navigation. The method is simple and trustiness, meanwhile, the system has good practicability. Finally, the experiments were done, and the results indicate that the inspection robot with this navigation system walks continuously and accurately in the unattended operation substation.
