Intervention analysis is the common method to reveal relationships between objects in human as well as biological society. Data mining research community is just starting to pay attention to intervention analysis. As the traditional association rules are not successful at measuring intervention, this paper tries to mining intervention rules from time series data of sub-complex system. The main contributions of this study include: (1) introduces a new concept of intervention rules. It can quantitatively detect at what scale, how intensive and how long the intervention does make sense; (2) conduct wavelet transform on time series. The decomposition scale can denotes the intervention scale; (3) proposes a new concept named directional correlation to measure intervention intensity; (4) calculates the intervention intensity between time series data with different time delays. The time delay can uncover after how long the intervention takes place; (5) conducts experiments on real datasets. The results show that intervention rules do exist at different decomposition scale of the original data. Moreover, the number of rules discovered by multi-scale analyzing methods is always 4 or 5 times more than those found by single scale methods. And the stability of rules discovered by the improved multi-scale mining algorithm MMIR* is always 100%, while the stability of rules discovered by the basic multi-scale mining algorithm MMIR fluctuate around 70%.

In this study, our purpose was to make a short summary for sentences. For ex- ample, we aimed to make a short summary "terror" for sentences "A bomb went off. Some people were killed. This was triggered by rebel campaign." In this study, we proposed a new method that generates summaries that can appropriately and adequately express the contents of their respective original documents using word-association knowledge. In this method, we assumed that a good summary comprises words that can express the contents of the original document and does not contain words that are unable to express the contents of the original document. Using statistical tests, we confirmed that the use of elements in our method was beneficial. Our method obtained 0.75 as the ratio where the top 10 summaries for each docu- ment include a correct summary and 0.45 as the mean reciprocal rank (MRR) in the "lenient" case of experiments. © 2010 by Kazuki Takigawa, Masaki Murata, Masaaki Tsuchida, Stijn De Saeger, Kazuhide Yamamoto, and Kentaro Torisawa.

A novel P-shape wideband dielectric resonator antenna design is presented for wireless application in this paper. It is described by using a P-shape dielectric resonator with high dielectric constant (εr = 30) that is placed on the truncated ground plane, a wideband impedance bandwidth of about 64% (for VSWR≤2), covering the frequency range of 3.40-6.58GHz is achieved. Analysis of the proposed antenna is performed using CST Microwave Studio software.

Numerical simulations of a flue gas turbine were conducted by using the software NUMECA. The influence of different moving blade installation angles was analyzed on the internal flow field, and the change of turbine's efficiency and mass flow rate was studied too. It is found that moving blade installation angle has great influences on turbine's performance. The results indicate that the optimal installation angle of moving blade is 52.9°. Compared with it, increasing or decreasing installation angle reduces turbine's efficiency, power and torque. Increasing installation angle enlarges the original supersonic zone in the flow passage of static blade and moving blade. Decreasing installation angle slightly reduces the supersonic zone in static blade flow passage but adds another bigger supersonic zone in moving blade flow passage, which worsens the flow field. Secondary flow and separation region exist near the moving blade suction surface, with increase of installation angle their influence scope become larger.

This paper presents the design and implementation of finite Radon transform (FRAT) on field programmable gate array (FPGA). To improve the implementation time, Xilinx AcceIDSP, a software for generating hardware description language (HDL) from a high-level MATLAB description has been used. FPGA-based architectures with three design strategies have been proposed: direct implementation of pseudo-code with a sequential or pipelined description, and block random access memory (BRAM)-based approach. Various medical images modalities have been deployed for both software simulation and hardware implementation. An analysis on the image de-noising using the FRAT is addressed and demonstrates a promising capability for medical image de-noising. Moreover, the impact of different block sizes on reconstructed images has been analysed. Furthermore, performance analysis in terms of area, maximum frequency and throughput is presented and reveals a significant achievement.

In order to evaluate power quality more accurately, this paper presents a three-layer distributed online power quality monitoring system (PQMS), which uses the General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) wireless network as its communication channel. This PQMS consists of three parts: the power quality monitor (PQM), the monitoring software (MS) in upper computer and the web platform (WP). The PQM which is designed on the structure of DSP (Digital Signal Processor) + CPLD (Complex Programmable Logic Device) ensures the realtime and precise monitoring. Then the MS collects and analyzes the monitoring data. At the same time, GPRS network provides the communication channel for PQM and MS. The WP provides the monitoring data and the analysis results through internet, and supervisors can monitor and manage the power quality from a long distance. The detail design and its realization of each part are explained. Precision test of the PQM and field monitoring results with the PQMS are also discussed.

In recent years, the technology based on the cascade multi-level inverter has been widely applied in the large-power and high-voltage energy control areas. According to the basic principle of Variable Frequency and Variable Speed system, using DSP and IPM, I introduce the hardware structure of this system , and elaborate the steering impulse method using the digital signal processor and the design of system's control procedure. Adopting the advanced DSP of TMS320F2812 as the control center, I design the control software of the system, and carry on the experiment which is based on DSP experiment box. Through the Experimental results, we can see that the output sine wave of the system is well, and its approaching degree is high. Therefore, the system can apply in the electric drive system widely.

Flywheel energy storage has been widely used to improve the land-grid power quality. This paper has designed a flywheel energy storage device to improve ship electric propulsion system network power quality. The practical mathematical models of flywheel energy storage and ship electric propulsion system have been established. Simulation research on the effect of ship electric propulsion system power quality, made by flywheel energy storage, is completed by using the software Matlab/simulink. We have done a lot of simulation experiments on sudden load of ship integrated electric propulsion system, one system is with flywheel energy storage, another one is not with. Comparing with these simulation results, we can see that the flywheel energy storage designed in this paper has improved ship electric propulsion system network power quality as well as increases the reliability of the ship grid. The conclusions can provide a theoretical basis for the design of flywheel energy storage design applied in ship integrated electric propulsion system.

This paper presents a wideband photonic antenna consisting the laser diode, matching circuit, RF amplifier and microstrip patch antenna are fabricated and connected together to perform in uplink system. Laser driver is used to supply the dc biasing for the laser. Lastly, the LD-matching circuit, RF amplifier and antenna were arrange together and connected to perform the wireless uplink system. The simulated and measured results are presented and discussed. These results show useful photonic antenna design that achieves relatively wide bandwidth and has potential to be applied in RoF technology.
