A significant part of packet processing consists of detecting whether certain standard protocol headers are present, where they are located and whether they include optional information. Packet processing programs are on tight time budgets, especially to handle speeds in the gigabits per second (gbps) range. Thus, high-speed mechanisms for finding and accessing headers are critical. Our approach lets users define headers as C-style structures in a highlevel language, packetC [1], and specify header locations in terms of offsets from the start of the current packet, which is treated as an array of unsigned bytes. These offsets can be expressed in terms of network layer offsets, constant values, runtime-calculated variables and combinations of all of these. This paper focuses on the principal forms these offset expressions can take and on how our FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays), compiler and interpreter collectively handle them at runtime. For simple and complex header offset scenarios we provide users with intuitive, high-level ways to describe offsets and provide effective runtime mechanisms to access header fields. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper is aims at heterogeneity between local three-dimensional body scanning database, presents a Sort of data sharing, publishing and retrieving system architecture and approach over heterogeneous three-dimensional body scanning data sets distributed over Internet. The system mainly involve three-dimensional body scanning and apparel domain ontology model, domain rule database, an intelligent and semantic query engine, query facts database, analysis tools, maintenance and interface components etc. We constructed our three-dimensional body scanning database system and produced a standard model in our sharing web,it system according its ontology model. The proposed system can effective overcome the structure ana semantic heterogeneity of local three-dimensional body scanning database.

In this work, we consider heuristic algorithms for parallel jobs execution and efficient resources allocation in heterogeneous computing environments. Existing modern job-flow execution features and realities impose many restrictions for the resources allocation procedures. Emerging virtual organizations and incorporated economic scheduling models allow users and resource owners to compete for suitable allocations based on market principles and fair scheduling policies. Subject to these features a special dynamic programming scheme is proposed to select resources depending on how they fit a particular job execution duration. Hindsight approach makes it possible to select between several different scenarios obtained with the same base scheduling procedure. Based on a conservative backfilling scheduling procedure we study how different resources allocation heuristics affect integral job-flow scheduling characteristics in a dedicated simulation environment. © 2019 IEEE.

The numerical simulation of complex astrophysical problems requires high-performance computing due to the large size of the problems and variety of simulated physical processes. In this paper, we present a new framework for the numerical simulation of astrophysical fluid dynamics. It is based on the mechanisms of combining distributed and parallel computing techniques, advanced vectorization for KNL, and Skylake-SP CPU architectures. Our new HydroBox3D framework uses large 3D meshes to solve problems such as the dynamics of stars or galaxies. In our framework, we use computational nodes with a large amount of memory (RAM or Intel Optane in memory mode) for mesh processing and typical computational nodes for the numerical simulation of astrophysical problems. We use MPI both for send/receive operations between computational nodes and for sending processed data for calculations from data nodes. For optimization of calculations, memory, and CPU usage, we use data vectorization, FMA3, and AVX-512 instructions for Intel Xeon Phi 72XX and Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Benchmark results on different CPU and MIC devices show the effectiveness of the proposed solution. © 2019 IEEE.

Application-level protocol specifications are helpful for network security management, including intrusion detection and intrusion prevention which rely on monitoring technologies such as deep packet inspection. Moreover, detailed knowledge of protocol specifications is also an effective way of detecting malicious code. However, current methods for obtaining unknown and proprietary protocol message formats (i.e., no publicly available protocol specification), especially binary protocols, highly rely on manual operations, such as reverse engineering which is timeconsuming and laborious. In this paper, we propose Biprominer1, a tool that can automatically extract binary protocol message formats of an application from its real-world network trace. In addition, we present a transition probability model for a better description of the protocol. The chief feature of Biprominer is that it does not need to have any priori knowledge of protocol formats, because Biprominer is based on the statistical nature of the protocol format. We evaluate the efficacy of Biprominer over three binary protocols, with an average precision more than 99% and a recall better than 96.7%. © 2011 IEEE.

Modern heuristic optimization systems leverage the parallel processing power of Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). Many states are maintained and evaluated in parallel to improve runtime by orders of magnitudes in comparison to purely CPUbased approaches. A well known example is the parallel Monte Carlo tree search, which is often used in combination with more advanced machine-learning methods these days. However, all approaches require different optimization states in memory to update or manipulate variables and observe their behavior over time. Large real-world problems often require a large number of states that are typically limited by the amount of available memory. This is particularly challenging in cases in which older states (that are not currently being evaluated) are still required for backtracking purposes. In this paper, we propose a new general high-level approach to track and reconstruct states in the scope of heuristic optimization systems on GPUs. Our method has a considerably lower memory consumption compared to traditional approaches and scales well with the complexity of the optimization problem. © 2019 IEEE.

The knapsack problem is a famous NP-complete problem. It is very important in the research on cryptosystem and number theory. After its proposed parallel algorithms are analyzed deeply, a new parallel algorithm by sampling is proposed based on MIMD supercomputers in the paper . Then performance analysis and comparisons are illuminated Finally the experimental results of the knapsack instances randomly generated on IBM P690 supercomputer are given. The results show: the parallel efficiency can be over 60% when solving the larger scale knapsack instances (n >= 40). Thus it is proved that the proposed parallel algorithm for the knapsack problem is feasible and efficient on MIMD scalable supercomputers.

Big Data Cyber Security Analytics (BDCA) systems use big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop and Spark) for collecting, storing, and analyzing a large volume of security event data to detect cyber-attacks. The state-of-the-art uses various design strategies (e.g., feature selection and alert ranking) to help BDCA systems to achieve the desired levels of accuracy and response time. However, the use of these strategies in the state-of-the-art is not consistent, which exposes a lack of consensus on 'when to use (and not to use) these design strategies?' In this paper, we follow a systematic experimentation framework to quantify the impact of four design strategies on the accuracy and response time with respect to three contextual factors i.e., security data, machine learning model employed in the system, and the execution mode of the system. For the aimed quantification, we performed experiments on a Hadoop-based BDCA system using four security datasets, five machine learning models, and three execution modes. Our findings lead us to formulate a set of design guidelines that will help researchers and practitioners to decide when to use (and not to use) the design strategies. © 2019 IEEE.

distributed file system (DFS) is playing important roles of supporting large distributed data-intensive applications to meet storage needs. Typically, the design of DFS, such as GFS in Google, DMS in Cisco and TFS in Alibaba, is driven by observations of specific application workloads, internal demands and technological environment. In such systems, the metadata service is a critical factor that can affect the file system performance and availability to a great degree. Five requirements have been summarized for the metadata service: location transparent file service, smart director, efficient speed, strong scalability and friendly collaborator. In this paper, we present metadata service module called CHMasters in our DFS. Consistent hashing protocol is used to relieve potential hot spots on name servers. Files'metadata and master nodes are mapped into the same hash space by consistent hash function. And then files'metadata are scattered to master nodes by clockwise "closest" principle. Chunkserver acts as a client when report its chunks info. Only a small proportion of files'metadata will be rehashed when master nodes state change. A new scalable file mapping strategy is also proposed to map file sizes from few MB to several GB efficiently. After intensive experiments, it shows CHMasters is satisfying the above five requirements. © 2011 IEEE.

Multi-core processors can easily provide benefits for multithreaded workloads, but many applications written for uniprocessors cannot automatically benefit from chip multiprocessors (CMP) designs. This paper presents a reverse compilation framework, which translates existing binary code without source code to the Static Single Assignment (SSA) form, and then the internal SSA form is applied by the compilation phase to generate the Speculative parallel Threading (SPT) code. A profiler is applied to optimize the code dynamically during execution. The evaluation results show that these existing binary codes without source codes execute on CMP with performance improved, due to taking advantage of the speculative parallel threading support provided by the processor.
