With the increasing concern for environmental protection and resource optimization, efficient waste sorting has become a serious challenge today. In this paper, we propose a new offloading control problem that aims to solve waste sorting in wireless bin communication networks. Due to limited computational power, bins belonging to embedded devices rely on simple classification models with varying accuracy. In this scenario, consider a network of intelligent bins, each acting as an independent agent capable of deciding to offload an image to the edge server with a more accurate but resource-intensive model when the local classification is deemed inaccurate. Thus, Our goal is to find a lightweight online offloading policy that can achieve the best possible sorting accuracy while balancing transmission traffic. The method utilizes a Deep Q-network algorithm that enables each intelligent bin to make image-processing decisions autonomously. In the experiment, we validate the effectiveness of improving the performance of waste classification compared with existing flow control methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

With the rise of Foundation models, Text-to-image models, as one of its important branches, have been increasingly applied. While focusing on the impressive generation capabilities of these models, it is also crucial to pay attention to the robustness of the models against attacks. In this paper, we shift our focus towards studying the vulnerability of Text-to-image (T2I) models. To this end, we propose a black-box attack method and demonstrate that T2I models are susceptible to adversarial text attacks. Specifically, this method can disrupt T2I models by making subtle modifications to the model's input (i.e., prompt) without accessing the model parameters, resulting in the generation of incorrect images. It is worth mentioning that we discovered the ability to switch different types of tokenizers within this black-box framework to handle text, furthermore, this attack framework can be applied to target different versions of T2I models. The experiments indicate that the images generated through adversarial text exhibit noticeable errors. We also employ CLIP score, a metric used to evaluate the similarity between images and image descriptions, to assess the results. The findings demonstrate a significant decrease in the visual-textual similarity after the model is subjected to attacks. Additionally, we have identified a specific type of error that T2I models tend to make when facing attacks - when confronted with unrecognizable text, the model often interprets it as human-related content. This paper not only highlights the vulnerability of T2I models to adversarial text attacks but also further discusses potential methods that could enhance the robustness of these attack techniques. This provides a valuable reference for future research directions in this field. © 2023 IEEE.

DEF-Net: A Face Aging Model by Using Different Emotional Learnings

Face aging has attracted widespread attention in recent years, but most studies are based on the same emotional situation. Is the same person's aging in different emotional situations the same? To solve the above confusion, this paper proposes a novel face aging model DEF-Net, which consists of two parts: different emotional learnings (Emotion-Net) and face aging (Age-Net). Given a target emotion category, DEF-Net first assists the image from the original dataset to learn the emotion features through Emotion-Net and the generated dataset is used as the inputs of Age-Net. At the same time, multiple loss functions are used to ensure that the crucial information of the original image is not lost. Secondly, Age-Net, which has been pre-trained on the original dataset, began to adopt the generated dataset to learn the aging distribution under different emotions. Designed loss functions are utilized to ensure that the realistic target images generated by Age-Net do not lose the learned emotional characteristics. Finally, extensive experiments are used to verify the performance of DEF-Net. Compared with other state-of-the-art methods: (1) DEF-Net can learn different facial emotions across different datasets and generate corresponding realistic aging images;(2) the results achieved by our DEF-Net are demonstrated to be better than those by the model that performs face aging first and then learns different emotional characteristics.

Reconstructing the damaged images with perspective views has an extensive range in the field of image inpainting. However, most existing methods generated inadequately realistic restored images. Accomplishing this problem, we propose an edge-enhanced image generation model considering viewpoints. Our method applies edge map information to guide image generation based on the perspective views of an image using vanishing points detection. Texture synthesis will be presented as post-processing to complete the remaining missing regions. Experiment shows that our approach can generate perspective images with convincing details, such as indoor and outdoor facades. © 2022 IEEE.

image enhancement is a process to improve the visual standard of image so as to extract spatial features of image. Histogram Equalization is method by which image can be improved for better perception and interpretation by different automated image processing system and human beings. Although, for low-contrast images (with lower dynamic range) traditional histogram equalization deteriorate quality of the output image by introducing washed-out form caused by too much brightness change. This paper presents histogram equalization based image enhancement method which is optimized using cuckoo search algorithm. Foremost purpose of the proposed method is to control over and under enhancement by calculating clip limits of the image histogram before performing histogram equalization. This method uses cuckoo search algorithm to automatically control the clip limit according to the image nature using improved fitness function. Effectiveness of the proposed method in comparison to other methods is analyzed using well known image quality metrics. © 2022 IEEE.

Existing image inpainting methods used traditional and deep learning methods to restore a large missing region in the damaged image. This often leads to color discrepancy and blurriness. Pre-processing of prior line detection by user assistance is usually employed to reduce the blurry of center region by segmenting the large region into more minor. However, it operates manually, which is time-consuming. This paper introduces a technique to generate two-line types: penetrator and interactor in constructing auxiliary lines as guidance. These lines assist structure propagation established automatically, while the remaining small regions are filled by texture propagation. Experiments on large regular masks demonstrate that our proposed approach generates higher-quality results than other methods. © 2022 IEEE.

Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Transformer architectures have been extensively applied in the domain of remote sensing image super-resolution. However, to achieve optimal performance, many existing methods are designed with a large number of parameters, thereby increasing the complexity of the model and hindering practical deployment. To address this issue, we propose an innovative model that synergizes CNN and Transformer architectures while employing a minimal number of their respective modules. This approach significantly reduces the parameter count while maintaining superior performance. Firstly, by constructing additional shallow feature representations as input, we enhance the feature extraction capabilities for individual images. Secondly, we utilize residual connections between various modules to integrate multi-scale, high-dimensional feature information, thus ensuring efficient transmission. Finally, the image reconstruction module is employed to restore the high-resolution image. Experimental results show that FCTNet significantly outperforms existing methods while maintaining a substantially lower parameter count, as demonstrated through evaluations on two public datasets.

Worldwide, Type ii Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a major condition whose incidence is rising. It is a public health issue as well as the silent killer of humanity. Its diverse aetiology, which includes genetic predisposition and environmental influences, may offer a distinctive trait in the population that is useful for early diagnosis. As a result, researchers are seeking novel approaches to its early diagnosis and treatment. Now, manual methods are used to measure and compare the axial triradius (ATD) angles of both palms using a Goniometer for the early prediction of T2DM. The creation of datasets containing individuals' left and right palm prints is the primary objective of this project, which aims to develop a model that would assist in the early prediction of T2DM. The model would have the option to track down the distinction in the ATD points in the two palms and foresee assuming that the singular will be determined to have T2DM in the future. A total of 390 instances were collected out of which 130 are diabetic and 260 were non-diabetic patients. It consists of various image pre-processing techniques and delta-point detection methods. The model would be able to predict the results if the user simply uploaded images of both palms. The image Thresholding and Segmentation Method was used to evaluate the best features and the crossing number method was used to automate the model, indicating that the model achieved an accuracy of 91.02% in predicting the ATD angle. Using biomarkers, this project can be implemented in the health sector for early detection of Type ii Diabetes Mellitus. © 2023 IEEE.

A parallel content-based image retrieval system using spark and tachyon frameworks

With the huge increase of large-scale multimedia over Internet, especially images, building Content-Based image Retrieval (CBIR) systems for large-scale images has become a big challenge. One of the drawbacks associated with CBIR is the very long execution time. In this article, we propose a fast Content-Based image Retrieval system using Spark (CBIR-S) targeting large-scale images. Our system is composed of two steps. (i) image indexation step, in which we use MapReduce distributed model on Spark in order to speed up the indexation process. We also use a memory-centric distributed storage system, called Tachyon, to enhance the write operation (ii) image retrieving step which we speed up by using a parallel k-Nearest Neighbors (k-NN) search method based on MapReduce model implemented under Apache Spark, in addition to exploiting the cache method of spark framework. We have showed, through a wide set of experiments, the effectiveness of our approach in terms of processing time. (C) 2019 The Authors. Liquid-based thin-layer cell smears are very important for the early screening and prevention of cervical cancer, and computer-aided diagnosis can reduce the workload of pathologists. The cell classification method based on deep learning can process data efficiently. However, most classification methods are based on a single resolution for recognition. When the resolution is low, the processing speed of the whole slide image is faster, but lack of picture details, which makes the identification inaccurate. When the resolution is high, it takes more time to process the whole slide image, but with more image detail. To this end, we propose a model based on Attention Mechanism and Multi-resolution Feature Fusion Module (AMFM), which combine the advantages of various resolutions to classify cervical cells. Experiments show that the accuracy is increased by 3.93% and the AUC is improved by 0.022 on the four-classification task of the cervical cell compared to the model based on a single resolution. © 2022 IEEE.
