The Network of Polarized Evolutionary Processors (NPEP) is a rather new variant of the bio-inspired computing model called Network of Evolutionary Processors (NEP). This model, together with its variants, is able to provide theoretical feasible solutions to hard computational problems. NPEPE is a software engine able to simulate NPEP which is deployed over Giraph, an ultra-scalable platform based on the Bulk Synchronous Parallel (BSP) programming model. Rather surprisingly, the BSP model and the underlying architecture of NPEP have many common points. Moreover, these similarities are also shared with all variants in the NEP family. We take advantage of these similarities and propose an extension of NPEPE (named gNEP) that enhances it to simulate any variant of the NEP's family. Our extended gNEP framework, presents a twofold contribution. Firstly, a flexible architecture able to extend software components in order to include other NEP models (including the seminal NEP model and new ones). Secondly, a component able to translate input configuration files representing the instance of a problem and an algorithm based on different variants of the NEP model into some suitable input files for gNEP framework. In this work, we simulate a solution to the "3-colorability" problem which is based on NPEP. We compare the results for a specific experiment using NPEPE engine and gNEP. Moreover, we show several experiments in the aim of studying, in a preliminary way, the scalability offered by gNEP to easily deploy and execute instances of problems requiring more intensive computations.

Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications has gained a lot of interest in recent years and inevitably became part of the 5th-Generation New Radio (5G-NR) technologies, namely the sub-6GHz 5G and millimeter wave (mmWave) 5G. Also, the 3rd-Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has defined reliability, end-to-end latency, data rate and range as the most important quality of service (QoS) parameters, which become crucial in highway propagation environments where the vehicles are moving at high speeds. These parameters are mostly improved by channel coding, which is a mechanism for limiting errors and improving the communication quality. Therefore, in this paper, we investigate the impact of use of 4th-Generation Long-Term Evolution (4G-LTE) turbo codes, 5G-NR polar codes and low-density parity-check codes (LDPC) in 5G V2X highway propagation environments and analyze the QoS parameters for both sub-6GHz 5G and mmWave 5G technologies. Our analysis shows that turbo-based coding schemes can be a future candidate for small data frame 5G V2X highway communications, since they present superior performance in most of the aforementioned QoS parameters.

This work is part of the ViSaGe project. This project concerns the storage virtualization applied in the grid environment. Its goal is to create and manage virtual storage resources by aggregating geographically distributed physical storage resources shared on a Grid. To these shared resources, a quality of service will be associated and related to the data storage performance. In a Grid environment, sharing resources may improve performances if these resources are well managed and if the management software obtains sufficient knowledge about the grid resources workload (computing nodes, storage nodes and links). The grid resources workload is mainly perceived by a monitoring system. Several existing monitoring systems.are available for monitoring the grid resources and applications. Each one provides informations according to its aim. For example, Network Weather Service [6] is designed to monitor grid computing nodes and links. On the other hand, Netlogger [8] monitors grid resources and applications in order to detect application's bottleneck. These systems.are useful for a post mortem analysis. However, in ViSaGe, we need a system that analyzes the necessary nodes state during execution time. This system is represented by the ViSaGe Administration and monitoring service "Admon". In this paper, we present our scalable distributed system: Admon. Admon traces applications, and calculates the system resources consumption (CPU, Disks, Links). Its originality consists in providing a new opportunity to improve virtual data storage performance by using workload's constraints (e.g., maximum CPU usage percentage). Many constraints will be discussed (such as time's constraint). These constraints allow performance improvement by assigning nodes to the ViSaGe's jobs in an effective manner.

A distributed Monitoring System (NGOP) that will scale to the anticipated requirements for Run Ⅱ computing has been under development at Fermilab. NGOP [1] provides a framework to create Monitoring Agents for monitoring the overall state of computers and software that are running on them. Several Monitoring Agents are available within NGOP that are capable of analyzing log files, and checking existence of system daemons, CPU and memory utilization, etc. NGOP also provides customizable graphical hierarchical representations of these monitored systems. NGOP is able to generate events when serious problems have occurred as well as raising alarms when potential problems have been detected. NGOP allows performing corrective actions or sending notifications. NGOP provides persistent storage for collected events, alarms and actions. A first implementation of NGOP was recently deployed at Fermilab. This is a fully functional prototype that satisfies most of the existing requirements. For the time being the NGOP prototype is monitoring 512 nodes. During the first few months of running NGOP has proved to be a useful tool. Multiple problems such as node resets, offline CPUs, and dead system daemons have been detected. NGOP provided system administrators with information required for better system tuning and configuration. The current state of deployment and future steps to improve the prototype and to implement some new features will be presented.

Weak-beam analysis of dissociation modes of superlattice dislocations in Ni3(Al,Ti)

Dislocation mechanisms and their influence on mechanical properties (e.g. flow stress and work-hardening) can be studied in detail by critical prestraining experiments. In this study, the influence of prestrain on the flow stress of an Ni3(Al,Ti) alloy with L12 long-range order structure was investigated. The yield strength has a positive temperature dependence (it increases with increasing temperature) from room temperature (RT) up to 450 °C. Prestraining of Ni3(Al,Ti) single crystals at 800 °C activated the primary ± α[110](001) cube slip system. Climb dissociated segments interconnect superlattice dislocations of Lomer-Cottrell (LC) type. A subsequent additional deformation at RT introduced superlattice dislocations of the primary ± α[101](111) glide system. This subsequent deformation results in almost the same flow stress as the flow stress found in single crystals subjected to RT deformation only. Prestraining was found to have a huge influence on work-hardening. This is consistent with dislocation interactions of cube and octahedral glide systems. It is concluded that yielding is an intrinsic property of dislocation motion due to extended core configurations.

Microgrid field test projects in Japan are introduced in which distributed power generations including fuel cell, photovoltaic cell, wind power generation, gas engine, and battery energy storage are placed. Power leveling in the microgrid with support of high speed response is available utilizing power electronics technologies applied to these new energy power sources. Two examples of power electronics application to the renewable energy resources are presented in this paper. An inverter is one of common and basic equipments for dc type source of distributed power generations and will be important equipments for more reliable power systems. Although the modeling of conventional rotating generator has been developed and used in many network design and analysis stages, detailed modeling of inverter has not reported because there are many types of inverter in main circuit and in control. Then modeling of inverter on the EMTP is reported in this paper also for providing one of common model.

The emergence of the pen as the main interface device for personal digital assistants and pen-computers has made handwritten text, and more generally ink, a first-class object. As for any other type of data, the need of retrieval is a prevailing one. Retrieval of handwritten text is more difficult than that of conventional data since it is necessary to identify a handwritten word given slightly different variations in its shape. The current way of addressing this is by using handwriting recognition, which is prone to errors and limits the expressiveness of ink. Alternatively, one can retrieve from the database handwritten words that are similar to a query handwritten word using techniques borrowed from pattern and speech recognition. In particular, Hidden Markov Models (HMM) can be used as representatives of the handwritten words in the database. However, using HMM techniques to match the input against every item in the database (sequential searching) is unacceptably slow and does not scale up for large ink databases. In this paper, an indexing technique based on HMMs is proposed. The new index is a variation of the trie data structure that uses HMMs and a new search algorithm to provide approximate matching. Each node in the tree contains handwritten letters, where each letter is represented by an HMM. Branching in the trie is based on the ranking of matches given by the HMMs. The new search algorithm is parametrized so that it provides means for controlling the matching quality of the search process via a time-based budget. The index dramatically improves the search time in a database of handwritten words. Due to the variety of platforms for which this work is aimed, ranging from personal digital assistants to desktop computers, we implemented both main-memory and disk-based systems. The implementations are reported in this paper, along with performance results that show the practicality of the technique under a variety of conditions.

We have started production of an information and control network TC-net 1G on a commercial basis. TC-net 1G connects control devices at high speed in supervision and control systems. such as general industry and infrastructure systems. TC-net 1G, developed based on technologies of TC-net, has accelerated transmission performance to 1 Gbps, enhanced surveillance of RAS (Reliability Availability Serviceability) information and improved reliability. By development of TC-net 1G, construction of a larger-scale system is attained in fields, such as steel rolling, paper, waterworks, sewer and food. As international standardization activities, the specification of TCnet1G is being proposed towards 3rd edition of IEC61784-2 to be published in 2013.

PREFACE CACRE 2018 was held in Chengdu, China during Jul. 19-22, 2018. CACRE 2018 was organized by Sichuan University and HKSME. The conference provides a useful and wide platform both for displaying the latest research and for exchanging of research results and thoughts in broad Automation, Control, Robotics Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and other topics. The participants of the conference were from almost every part of the world, with background of either academia or industry, even well-known enterprise. The success and prosperity of the conference is reflected by high level of the papers received. The proceeding is a compilation of the accepted papers which represents an interesting outcome of the conference. This book covers 3 chapters: Automation Technology and Sensing Methods; Advanced Control and Intelligent Algorithms; Intelligent Robotics and Mechatronic systems. We would like to acknowledge all of those who supported CACRE 2018. Each individual and institutional help was very important for the success of this conference.
