Telemedicine technology has witnessed an increasing interest in healthcare institutions to provide health services to patients during outbreaks of epidemics due to the precautionary measures taken by many countries around the world. Many patients received ongoing, regular telemonitoring from their healthcare providers. However, the success of telemedicine is highly dependent on physicians' acceptance. Despite all the benefits associated with the use of this technology and its applications, it is not given the required consideration in Libyan health institutions. This paper explores physicians' knowledge and perceptions of telemedicine technology in hospitals. This study aimed to assess the level of knowledge possessed by physicians regarding telemedicine and their perceptions of its use in hospital settings. A survey was conducted for physicians working in a private Libyan hospital, where the sample used in the study was 60, and the questionnaire was distributed to them. The results of the study showed that (70.4%) of the physicians know about telemedicine, although they are not familiar with its applications, as they did not attend introductory lectures on telemedicine in their workplaces. The results provided insights into the current understanding and attitudes of clinicians towards telemedicine technology, which can guide strategies for its effective integration into healthcare systems. However, the results indicated some potential barriers when using telemedicine, including the need for training, poor infrastructure, financial issues, and lack of human resources to operate the equipment, which negatively affects the application of telemedicine in Libyan hospitals.

Field-of-view (FOV) is a very important property of camera-based imaging systems. Larger FOV is always preferred as it enables visualizing more objects with a single shot without moving or rotating the camera. For a very long time, effort on improving FOV is mainly performed on imaging lenses through optimization of lens shape, lens material, distance between lenses and the number of lenses. Although these methods can significantly improve FOV, there is an upper limit as further enlarge FOV will be extremely challenging due to optical aberrations. In this paper, instead of optimizing imaging lenses, we approach the FOV problem from the design of sensor optics (i.e., the micro-lens array in front of the CMOS photodetector). A geometrical model was proposed and detailed steps of optimization were described this can serve as a powerful tool to break the limit of FOV and thus ease the requirement of complicated imaging lenses in camera systems. © 2021 Association for computing Machinery. Although a relationship between NGOs and their donors is based more on trust, donors would expect N GOs to demonstrate legitimacy and accountability this time. Transparency is at the core of building such confidence, and recent technological innovation advances, specifically blockchain, reveal new possibilities for greater accountability in the NGO sector. Blockchain is a trust less system that can confirm transactions on its own without the assistance of an external party, thus building trust between NGOs and donors. There are various major domains related to the application of blockchain in the N GO sector. Many research gaps exist regarding effective knowledge of blockchain compared to other approaches that validate its effectiveness in promoting transparency and accountability. Research has shown that blockchain technology has a high-efficiency level of about 95% in increasing the reliability of donation-tracing mechanisms. However, almost 90% of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are reluctant to adopt such innovations. The most significant technologies driving such innovations include blockchain, smart contracts, decentralized applications (DApps), distributed ledger technology (DLT), and data analytics, which all playa vital role in increasing transparency in donation systems. While blockchain has tremendous potential to transform the way NGOs engage with donors, organizations are faced with severe challenges in its application. Such challenges tend to come from change resistance and the difficulty in adopting and maintaining new technologies. The need to carry out comprehensive research to overcome such challenges and investigate how blockchain can increase transparency and accountability in N GO operations remains the number one priority.

Parallel corpus is needed for many natural language processing tasks, like machine translation and multilingual document classification. The parallel corpus of English–Punjabi language pair is sparse in volume due to the semantic differences between two languages and Punjabi being a low resource language. In this paper, a parallel corpus for machine translation is being created and evaluated using the sentence alignment permutation metrics. Multiple translation corpora and human assessment together validate automatic evaluation metrics, which are important for the development of machine translation systems. The corpora considered are dialogues of the movie taken from the Wikipedia dumps. Further, the metrics are identified that define the corpora more accurately. The quality of the corpus is verified using the performance metrics based on distance metrics. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The deployment of hybrid non-conventional energy sources has become inevitable due to decrease in natural resources, global warming, growing energy costs, and expanding electrical consumption are all factors to consider. Because solar and wind energy are both free and environmentally beneficial, they are regarded as the finest options for remote (or rural) electricity. The combination of solar power and wind power is a reliable source of energy creating a constant energy flow by avoiding the fluctuations. But this hybrid system gives rise to complications related to power system stability. Most of the industrial loads are controlled by power electronic converters that are sensitive to power system disturbances. Hence, the power quality issues diminution is more focused in recent times as it is vital in power supply industry. A number of FACTS devices such as power semiconductor devices are developed to overcome the above power quality issues. distributed power flow controller (DPFC), which is emerged from unified power flow controller, is considered as the best reliable device among the others. The DC link is the key distinction between these devices. In the case of DPFC, the DC connection that links both converters does not exist. This paper presents the performance analysis of DPFC when operating with and without genetic algorithm-based fuzzy logic controller, and the simulation results are validated using MATLAB/Simulink software. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Today's world is a globalized and connected one, where people are increasingly moving around and interacting with a greater number of services and devices of all kinds, including those that allow them to monitor their health. However, each company, institution or health system usually store its patients' data in an isolated way. Although this approach can have some benefits related with privacy, security, etc., it also implies that each one of them generates different, incomplete and possibly contradictory views of a patient's health data, losing part of the value that this information could bring to the patient. That is the reason why researchers from all over the world are determined to replace the current institution-centered health systems.with new patient-centered ones. In these new systems. all the health information of a patient is integrated into a unique global vision. However, some questions are still unanswered. Specifically, who should store and maintain the information of a given patient and how should this information be made available for other systems. To address this situation, this work proposes a new solution towards making the Personal Health Trajectory of patients available for both, the patients themselves and health institutions. By using the concept of blockchains' federation and web services access to the global vision of a person health can be granted to existing and new solutions. To demonstrate the viability of the proposal, an implementation is provided alongside the obtained results in a potential scenario. © 2021 IEEE.

Virtual power plants can help active distribution networks fully utilize and efficiently manage large amounts of distributed energy resources by calculating the aggregate flexibility of VPPs at the point of common coupling, which is usually described as a two-stage robust optimization problem. Column and constraint generation algorithm has become a mature method for solving two-stage robust optimization problem, which decomposes the original problem into master problem and sub-problem. However, solving sub-problem is usually time-consuming. In order to improve the solving efficiency of sub-problem, two acceleration strategies are proposed in this paper. Firstly, we linearize the bilinear term in the SP objective function using a binary expansion. Then, an extreme scenarios method is adopted to deal with the randomness of renewables, which allows sub-problem to be solved in parallel and reduces unnecessary conservativeness. In addition, a max-min model is constructed to obtain an upper bound of the actual operating cost of virtual power plants. The cost functions of virtual power plants can be expressed as a group of piecewise-linear functions based on convex hull. Finally, the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed method are verified by numerical test results of three different distribution systems.

The gaming industry is booming, as is the size of its market, which has seen a growth surge. This increase goes hand in hand with the growing popularity of online games, including massively multiplayer ones, a trend that is continuing and is expected to grow even more in the coming years. These gaming environments lay the foundations of what is likely to be tomorrow’s Metaverse. Whatever systemic flaws or vulnerabilities they have will most likely be carried over, if not addressed properly now. Inspired by a class of attacks that disrupt the game synchronization between players, we propose a thought-provoking reflection, claiming that these issues cannot be addressed by the classical body of knowledge in dependable or secure distributed systems. We offer ideas for research plans to move forward, using the games as a concrete experimentation platform but keeping in mind the broader impact of these issues.

Security and privacy are the primary concerns for IoT devices but because of their inherent limitation both in terms of processing and energy, IoT devices cannot be deployed at their full scale. To alleviate such security and privacy issues, the interaction of blockchain with IoT systems.has acquired significant attention these days because blockchain has presented an underlying mechanism of immutability, audibility, and transparency for data storage. However due to the intrinsic nature of a blockchain containing complex mathematical proof concepts such as Merkle Hash Tree and Proof of Work (PoW) which demands high computation power making it less viable for IoT devices to be connected with. To overcome these issues, a novel scheme is proposed in this paper, which deploys private by design based blockchain architecture for IoT devices using low complex consensus algorithm and low computation cryptographic mechanism which suits best for IoT devices to address the privacy concerns. Unlike the traditional blockchain network in which every node maintained a copy of the transaction, we have proposed a new architecture in which block validation and block generation logic has been modified so that a transaction will be limited to the trusted recipient only. The proposed scheme outperforms the contemporary approaches both in terms of throughput and latency as observed through simulation results as well as maintaining the privacy concerns which will encourage the actual implementation of IoT applications in the real world. Moreover, the evaluation analysis demonstrate that the approach has major potential in a trusted network computing system and provides a substantial secure environment for IoT users.
