this paper describes a 3D-image processing approach to generate a combination display of intracranial vessels and adjacent brain tissue surfaces in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). the algorithm is based on the ray-tracing principle and may be regarded as a union of the techniques of surface integration and maximum intensity projection (MIP). Measurement methods and preprocessing steps for acquisition of a flow-compensated vessel dataset and a t₁-weighted tissue volume with isolated brain with equal partitioning are described. the method is intended as a tool for the optimization of neurosurgical planning.

this paper presents a novel 3-D image coding scheme based on the ''Ray Space'' representation of 3-D spatial information. First, we give the definition of the Ray Space and show that the Ray Space representation can be a common data format for the integrated 3-D visual communication. then, we introduce the vector field in the Ray Space and propose a novel compression scheme in which the Ray Space data is compressed into the vector data on the divergent points. Finally, experimental results of the reconstruction of Ray Space data is presented.

the exchange of visual information in heterogeneous networks requires image compression algorithms that provide high quality images at several spatial resolutions and bit rates. Scalable coding provides images at several resolutions and bit rates, while perceptual coding incorporates human visual system characteristics. this paper presents an image compression algorithm that provides both scalable and perceptual coding to produce an embedded stream suitable for transmission over packet networks. Scalable and perceptual coding are combined through intraband coding of perceptually significant image regions. images are segmented into smooth, edge, and detailed regions, and these regions are then independently intraband coded and included in the stream in decreasing order of visual importance with respect to both region type and scale. Visual importance is based on the results of two psychophysical studies analyzing sensitivity to noise in different image regions and their roles in recognition. Locally adaptive quantization, based on study results, is also included in the compression algorithm. the resulting embedded stream provides spatial sealability and region-selective coding and performs well in the presence of packet loss. A new method to deal with images by computer is put forward, which is more convenient for the eyes to identify and much easier to understand. As the edge is a basic feature of image, checking it is one of the most important parts in processing image. the traditional technique is to use the edge detection partial operator, which is to detect the gray level changes of neighbors of every pixel, and to detect the edge by using the changing regular of one-order or two-order directional differential coefficient. But sometimes there is uncertainty of the edge, and man can't distinguish whether it is the edge or not. In order to turn the fuzzy edge to be clear and solve the problem above, this paper mentions fuzzy enhancement to realize image edge detection. Fuzzy technology is a newly rising technology used in many fields, especially in the image processing, and fuzzy enhancement is one important part of the fuzzy technology. Based on this technology, this paper firstly sets the image fuzzy feature plane of the original image, secondly proceeds the fuzzy enhancement, and then detects the edge by Sobel differential arithmetic. At the end of the paper, it realizes the histogram algorithm and the fuzzy enhancing algorithm by Visual C++. Results of the experiment show that fuzzy enhancement is superior in image processing.

Efficient communication requires an appropriate choice and combination of media. the print media has succeeded to attract audiences also in our electronic age because of its high usability. However, the limitations of print are self evident. By finding ways of combining printed and electronic information into so called hybrid media, the strengths of both media can be obtained. In hybrid media, paper functions as an interface to the web, integrating printed products into the connected digital world. this is a "reinvention" of printed matter making it into a more communicative technology. Hybrid media means that printed products can be updated in real time. Multimedia clips, personalization and e-shopping can be added as a part of the interactive medium. the concept of enhancing print with interactive features has been around for years. However, the technology has been so far too restricting - people don't want to be tied in front of their PC's reading newspapers. Our solution is communicative and totally mobile. A code on paper or electronic media constitutes the link to mobility.

Due to the affection of large moving object in the video image, the ordinary image stabilization algorithms can't get precise motion vector of the image. In this paper, a new image stabilization method that explicitly deals with video images containing large moving object is given out. It detects a rough area containing moving object first. then this area will be got rid of from source image. Finally, a feature area taken from the rest part is used to calculate the image motion. For the affection of moving object has been eliminated, motion vector's precision of the image is improved greatly.

the design of sensing and control systems for two-dimensional industrial processes such as paper making, plastic film extrusion and metal rolling, has drawn extensively upon concepts from two-dimensional signal processing and image processing. the performance of two-dimensional control systems is discussed in terms of spatial and dynamic bandwidths and is illustrated by examples from the control of cross-directional variations on a plastic film extrusion line. By relating these bandwidths to the specification of the required quality of the finished film and typical disturbances that enter the process, specifications are developed for the design of the actuators, the sensing system and the control algorithm. It is shown that the current generation of control systems is not suitable for controlling variations over small areas of sheet, but a system which regulates over much smaller areas could be developed using recent developments in sensors and two-dimensional control algorithms. this paper proposes a method using exploring agent for the noise elimination and crack recognition in binary images which originate from the objective gray level images. A mean filtering method is introduced to correct non-uniform background illumination and obtain the dynamic thresholds, which are used to convert the original 255 scales gray level image into binary images. the pavement crack figures in the binary image have been contaminated by randomly distributed noisy dots, and in most cases, the crack shape and orientation can't be represented by specific functions. the exploring agent method using sense-compute-act loop, presented in this paper, can be employed to determine the crack and eliminate the random noise. the exploring agent and the Least Square Fit (LSF) method separately have unique characteristics in recognizing the crack intersection and orientation, and automatically running along the crack. the traces of the exploring agent are the skeleton of the pavement crack, and the number of steps can be used to calculate the length of the crack. the sense, compute, and act ability of the exploring agent iterate to guarantee the effect in processing randomly distributed features of image during the actual processing.
