Materialize is a system that presents to users as SQL against continually changing data. It transforms inbound streams of *change data capture* events into streams that exactly correspond to transformed data, and maintains indexed representations of the results for efficient access and operation. SQL over changing data is surprisingly (for me) expressive: Materialize can operate on unbounded data, implement data-driven windows, and perform event-based queries, all with ANSI standard SQL. We will discuss what an event-based SQL system looks like, SQL idioms that give rise to traditionally stream-exclusive behavior, and how one architects such a system to scale across multiple dimensions.

As the power transmission network connects the power generation side and power consumption side, the transmission line plays a vital role in the overall stable operation of the power grid. However, because power transmission lines are often distributed in a very harsh environment, they are extremely susceptible to being interfered with by dynamic scenarios and face transmission failures. therefore, to maintain the power transmission, it is urgent to monitor the status of transmission lines in real time. Traditional communication technologies, such as GPRS, optical fiber, ZigBee, etc. are widely used in power monitoring systems, but their limitations make it difficult to meet the remote monitoring of transmission lines. the long-range (LoRa) technology has the characteristics of wide coverage and low energy consumption, providing an opportunity to make up for the 'last-mile' gap in transmission-line monitoring. the challenges to monitoring the transmission lines are: 1) the nodes far away from the base station need to transmit the data with considerable transmission power;2) the nodes outside the communication range of the base station cannot successfully send the data to the base station. To address these problems, this paper proposed a multi-hop communication strategy to monitor the status of transmission lines. First, we use a graph to represent the LoRa nodes and transfer the 3-phase line monitoring structure to the 1-phase line monitoring. Second, we construct an energy consumption model for each LoRa node in the multi-hop scenario. third, we develop a max-min optimization problem to compute a multi-hop scheme for minimizing the overall energy consumption for the transmission-line monitoring and maximizing the transmission range for the base station. Finally, we conduct extensive simulations to analyze the bottleneck of the energy consumption of the overall monitoring system with LoRa and the maximum range that the base station can cover. © 2022 IEEE.

the usage of social media in everyday life has become a need for keeping up with the news, as well as for making queries and requesting assistance. Following a significant event like a disaster, online media correspondence is a significant part of the emergency reaction. Regardless of the sort of disaster, whether a storm, an earthquake, or a man-made disaster like a riot or a terrorist attack. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and others have proven to be efficient communication and coordination tools for disaster victims and other groups. this gathered data can be utilized to react to individuals with the necessary requirements relying upon the kind of help or request mentioned. In this paper, we suggest an approach for extracting the needs of affected people during a crisis and providing the appropriate response using question answering techniques based on natural language processing techniques and neural networks. the approach was tested using Twitter data from various types of emergencies with different question answering techniques such as BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers), DistilBERT, T5 (Text-to-Text Transfer Transformer Model). the results showed that the BERT transformer the proposed approach has a precision of 0.81, a recall of 0.76, and an f-score of 0.78 for providing appropriate guidelines. © 2021 IEEE.

Regression analysis and classification can be done using a supervised learning technique called Support Vector Machine (SVM) which is one of many such methods. the method creates hyperplanes which are used to analyze data patterns and separate data into multiple classes. the computation complexity of the algorithm is very high for training and testing of large multidimensional datasets. In this work, we propose a scalable and cost-effective method to run SVM that reduces memory usage and computing power. the process uses distributed cloud GPU’s cluster nodes to run the algorithm in parallel on data which is divided into "n" parts. the results obtained from each of the cluster nodes are merged on a master node and the SVM algorithm is applied once more for classification. the study tackles the ECG classification using parallel SVM to investigate heartbeats and brain traces linked with different types of Arrhythmia and Seizure. Experiments performed on real ECG datasets (MIT BIH Diagnostic database and EEG Seizure database) resulted in a classification accuracy of 97.45%. the technique is proven both efficient by reducing training time and with high classification accuracy. the results achieved show that the proposed technique outperforms similar methods proposed in previous literature. © 2021 IEEE.

Variational quantum algorithm (VQA), which is comprised of a classical optimizer and a parameterized quantum circuit, emerges as one of the most promising approaches for harvesting the power of quantum computers in the noisy intermediate scale quantum (NISQ) era. However, the deployment of VQAs on contemporary NISQ devices often faces considerable system and time-dependant noise and prohibitively slow training speeds. On the other hand, the expensive supporting resources and infrastructure make quantum computers extremely keen on high utilization. In this paper, we propose a virtualized way of building up a quantum backend for variational quantum algorithms: rather than relying on a single physical device which tends to introduce ever-changing device-specific noise with less reliable performance as time-since-calibration grows, we propose to constitute a quantum ensemble, which dynamically distributes quantum tasks asynchronously across a set of physical devices, and adjusts the ensemble configuration with respect to machine status. In addition to reduced machine-dependant noise, the ensemble can provide significant speedups for VQA training. With this idea, we build a novel VQA training framework called EQC - a distributed gradient-based processor-performance-aware optimization system - that comprises: (i) a system architecture for asynchronous parallel VQA cooperative training;(ii) an analytical model for assessing the quality of a circuit output concerning its architecture, transpilation, and runtime conditions;(iii) a weighting mechanism to adjust the quantum ensemble's computational contribution according to the systems' current performance. Evaluations comprising 500K times' circuit evaluations across 10 IBMQ NISQ devices using a VQE and a QAOA applications demonstrate that EQC can attain error rates very close to the most performant device of the ensemble, while boosting the training speed by 10.5x on average (up to 86x and at least 5.2x). the acm 2020 DEBS Grand Challenge focused on Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM). NILM is a method that analyzes changes in the voltage and current going into a building to deduce appliance use and energy consumption. the 2020 Grand Challenge requires high performance and high accuracy NILM implementations. In this paper, we describe the technical details of our solution for the 2020 Grand Challenge, a NILM program based on Apache Flink. We employ a Divide-and-conquer strategy to implement our parallel algorithm and designed a verify stage to improve the accuracy. For performance, our method achieves a great overall run time and the highest accuracy. © 2020 acm.

Polarization state modulation(PM) It is known that satellite communication signals are easy to eavesdrop and how to realize secure transmission is the key problem. this paper proposes a secure transmission scheme based on the polarized constellation rotation and the weighted fractional Fourier transform. Firstly, the pseudo-random sequence is used to process the phase of the two components of polarization signals to make them change randomly, and the constellation points will randomly rotate around the horizontal polarization axis in the Poincare sphere. then two polarization signals are processed by WFRFT with different orders separately to further distort the polarization constellation. In this manner, the constellation points will be randomly distributed in, on and outside the sphere improve the transmission security. In addition, with the proposed, it is difficult for the eavesdropper to accurately recover the WFRFT parameters and when there are errors in the cracked WFRFT parameters, self-interferences occur in the recovered signals, which causes a decrease in the SNR of the signals received by the eavesdropper. In this way, it also obtains a positive secrecy capacity to ensure the transmission security. Finally, the performance of the proposed scheme is verified from three aspects: polarization constellation distortion, security capacity and the bit error rate performance. © 2024 IEEE.

Reinforcement learning tracking control (ILC) is proposed to solve the traditional iterative learning control (ILC) problem. For unknown continuous dynamic systems, precision output tracking is achieved for a given trajectory after several times of trials. the controller is composed of a feedback part and a feedforward part, where the feedback part uses linear states feedback to stabilize the system and the feedforward part is a time-dependent signal to ensure precision tracking. the desired trajectory is defined in a finite time interval and the controller is applied repeatedly to the system with the feedforward signal updated by reinforcement learning in each trial. the tracking problem is treated as a black-box optimization problem where the integral quadratic tracking error is a cost to be minimized under input constraints. In order to apply reinforcement learning, the feedforward signal is approximated by spline interpolation of a few representative points distributed uniformly along the tracking time interval. A search strategy based on squeeze theorem is adopted to update the value of the representative points to achieve minimum tracking error cost. the cart pole example illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2021 IEEE.

Online learning has become popular due to its flexibility and convenience. However, the huge number of e-works will increase the pressure on teachers. Peer assessment can effectively solve the problem by utilizing the scores of learners. However, there are two main problems (low security of data and low credibility of results) in traditional assessment systems. Blockchain is essentially a distributed database system with the characteristics of decentralization, traceability, difficulty in being tampered with, and high security. therefore, integrating blockchain technology into peer assessment can solve the problems mentioned above. this paper applies blockchain technology to peer assessment to design and implement a secure and reliable peer assessment system (BC-PASys). the system proposed in this study can ensure the security of origin assessment data and the reliability of peer assessment results, which can finally promote the large-scale application of peer assessment and enrich the application scenarios of blockchain technology. © 2024 IEEE.
