Due to increased specialization and experimentation, the volume of biomedical literature is rapidly increasing, where the current modalities of search and retrieval system can no longer support effective and efficient knowledge discovery. Standard information retrieval systems such as PubMed make assumptions as to users' prior knowledge and expect them to formulate a proper query term for the information they are looking for. there exist user feedback mechanisms to help users reformulate their queries, which still assumes that users know how the search results could be effectively narrowed down by way of additional keywords and/or filters. As an alternative, we revisit the Scatter/Gather information retrieval paradigm. Specifically, we explore a real-time dynamic cluster-based document browsing approach in the biomedical domain, discuss the system architecture involving keyword discovery and dynamic clustering, and present a working prototype with a relevant use case in comparison with a standard ranking-based information retrieval system.

Abnormal event detection, as a hot research field in intelligent video monitoring system, has attracted many researchers' attention in recent years. In order to overcome the shortcomings of the semi-supervised model, namely the training sample is difficult to contain all possible situations, leading to the occurrence of error detection, we propose a method based on support vector data description (SVDD).the principle of the method is to train the model with normal data and abnormal data respectively to obtain two SVDD models, and then judge whether there are abnormal events according to the results of the two models. this method has been tested by existing data sets and achieved good results.

Intelligent cyber-physical systems, such as robots, are emerging computing devices that autonomously and directly interact with the physical world. the new characteristics of these devices motivate further research questions different from those addressed in traditional computing technology. based on an in-depth investigation of the relationship between a typical example, robotic perception, and distributed computing, this paper tries to explore the challenges and opportunities brought by intelligent cyber-physical systems to distributed computing. the preliminary answers to three questions are given: 'Why should we introduce distributed computing into cyber-physical intelligence', 'What kind of distributed architecture can contribute to cyber-physical intelligence' and 'What challenges brought by intelligent cyber-physical systems to distributed computing infrastructure?' A multi-scale hybrid distributed architecture for cyber-physical intelligence named as Music as well as our initial practices towards enabling this architecture is also presented. © 2019 IEEE.

Big Data and IoT applications require highly-scalable database management system (DBMS), preferably operated in the cloud to ensure scalability also on the resource level. As the number of existing distributed DBMS is extensive, the selection and operation of a distributed DBMS in the cloud is a challenging task. While DBMS benchmarking is a supportive approach, existing frameworks do not cope with the runtime constraints of distributed DBMS and the volatility of cloud environments. Hence, DBMS evaluation frameworks need to consider DBMS runtime and cloud resource constraints to enable portable and reproducible results. In this paper we present Mowgli, a novel evaluation framework that enables the evaluation of non-functional DBMS features in correlation with DBMS runtime and cloud resource constraints. Mowgli fully automates the execution of cloud and DBMS agnostic evaluation scenarios, including DBMS cluster adaptations. the evaluation of Mowgli is based on two IoT-driven scenarios, comprising the DBMSs Apache Cassandra and Couchbase, nine DBMS runtime configurations, two cloud providers with two different storage backends. Mowgli automates the execution of the resulting 102 evaluation scenarios, verifying its support for portable and reproducible DBMS evaluations. the results provide extensive insights into the DBMS scalability and the impact of different cloud resources. the significance of the results is validated by the correlation with existing DBMS evaluation results.

Online gaming applications entertain hundreds of millions of daily active players and often feature vastly complex architecture. Among online games, Minecraft-like games simulate unique (e.g., modifiable) environments, are virally popular, and are increasingly provided as a service. However, the performance of Minecraft-like services, and in particular their scalability, is not well understood. Moreover, currently no benchmark exists for Minecraft-like games. Addressing this knowledge gap, in this work we design and use the Yardstick benchmark to analyze the performance of Minecraft-like services. Yardstick is based on an operational model that captures salient characteristics of Minecraft-like services. As input workload, Yardstick captures important features, such as the mostpopular maps used within the Minecraft community. Yardstick captures system- and application-level metrics, and derives from them service-level metrics such as frequency of game-updates under scalable workload. We implement Yardstick, and, through real-world experiments in our clusters, we explore the performance and scalability of popular Minecraft-like servers, including the official vanilla server, and the community-developed servers Spigot and Glowstone. Our findings indicate the scalability limits of these servers, that Minecraft-like services are poorly parallelized, and that Glowstone is the least viable option among those tested.

the security analysis of sensitive issues and medical diagnosis are immensely focus to determine exact location of event happening regions. In this paper we propose a model of clustering and pooling techniques to local features using Bag-of-Words (BoW) descriptor in SVM framework for event detection in video sequences. the proposed model extracts local features from six categories of Columbia Consumer Video (CCV) event detection benchmark. We developed the clusters of these features using KD-search tree and Lloyds algorithm. the clusters of features is pooled to vectors by using bag of words model. Introducing the inferring temporal instance labelling, the model performed fast for event detection. the significant performance of the research problem can thrilled out the social media by retrieving the best possible content. the proposed model can efficiently perform the experiments of event detection related to big data problem in visual media. Furthermore, the proposed approach in the model is invariant to rotation, translation and scale changes in the video sequence and robust to the illumination and viewpoints.

this paper presents a data-based model for metro scheduling that aims to minimizes passenger wait time under constraints. In contrast to existing approaches that rely on a statistical model of passenger arrival, we develop a model based on real-world automated fare collection (AFC) data in a metro line of a Korean city for an extended period of time. the model consists of decomposing the travel time for each passenger into wait, ride, and walk times, clustering of passengers by trains they ride and also calculating the number of passengers in each train for any given time. based on this, for a given train schedule, the total wait time of all the passengers for the entire AFC data period can be calculated. Finally, the minimization problem is formulated using the model under realistic constraints. Refining and validating each component of the model are currently underway before we solve the minimization problem.

systems for automated technical diagnostics of promising complex distributed information systems, often with critical properties of application, as well as actively added agent properties of autonomy, mobility, intelligence, and cooperativity, should ensure their complete real-time testing. Moreover, the online testing should be carried out both for the static hardware-software and information environment of the system location, and for the dynamic aggregate of information-check flows corresponding to the main functions and scenarios of its work. this paper discusses a multi-level method of behavioral online testing, based on a multi-level model for check of behavior of hierarchical Petri nets. the check model allows us to present both the active processes of the basic functioning of the static environment for placing distributed information systems and dynamic information and control flows in it, as well as passive processes of behavioral online testing of the environment and flows. the proposed online testing method differs in the background hierarchical organization of the temporal development of processes and check flows with evolutionary optimization based on multi-agent organization and space-time decomposition and distribution in the hosting environment. the behavioral online testing method allows defining the main verification procedures and its preparation, reducing the time and resources costs due to the evolutionary search and multi-agent decomposition of the control analysis, which is important for real-time verification.
