this paper describes a method of computing volume for 3D objects bounded by Bézier surfaces using example models of biomedical origin. the authors present three different theorems for volume calculation, based, based on different properties of researched models, acquired by projection of surface vertices on coordinate system origin point, axis and plane. the proposed approach is based on using methods of differential geometry: surface integrals of scalar fields, Euler integral of the first kind and Beta functions. Experimental results prove the accuracy of presented theorems. the proposed method can be successfully used to calculate the volume of different 3D models, including objects of biomedical origin. © 2017.

the analysis of large amounts of data has become an important task in science and business that led to the emergence of the Big Data paradigm. this paradigm owes its name to data objects too large to be processed by standard hardware and algorithms. Many data analysis tasks involve the use of machine learning techniques during the model creation step. the goal of predictive models consists on achieving the highest possible accuracy to predict new samples, and for this reason there is high interest in selecting the most suitable algorithm for a specific dataset. this trend is known as model selection and it has been widely studied in datasets of common size, but poorly explored in the Big Data context. As an effort to explore in this direction this work propose an algorithm for model selection in very large datasets. © 2017.

In this paper, we introduce a novel Gibbs language model constructed on a multi-layered dependency semantic graph to lexically disambiguate words, phrases, and sentences that lend themselves to different possible meaning and interpretations for use in machine translation (MT). the model looks at semantic cliques of words (key words) and assigns Gibbs potentials and conditional probabilities in proportion to the importance and degree of interactions between a given word and its neighbors within the semantic clique. Efficient estimates (maximum likelihood estimators (MLE)) for the Gibbs clique parameters are obtained using bilingual parallel corpora. Our method also naturally factors in the beliefs of expert translators, maps them into expert Gibbs parameters, and updates the MLE to maximum a posterior probability (MAP) estimates. Experimental results using our model and method are reported on testbeds in the medical and literary fiction domains and our results fare more than favorably when compared to the state-of-the-art long short-term memory (LSTM) Neural Network (NN) approach. © 2017.

the automatic classification of academic conference information according to research subjects enables researchers to search related academic conference efficiently. Information provided by most conference listing services is limited on title, date, location, and website URL. However, among these features, the only feature containing topical words is title, which causes information insufficient problem. therefore, we propose methods that aim to resolve the lack of information by utilizing an web contents. Specifically, the proposed methods extract the main contents from a HTML document crawled through the website URL. Based on the similarity between the title of a conference and its main contents, the topical keywords are selected to enforce the important keywords among the main contents. Experiment results show that the use of important keywords based on websites by using the proposed method is successfully to improve the performances of classification for academic conference information. © 2017.

Looking at a countryside, human has no difficulty to identify salient information such as skyline in case of benign weather. At the same time, during the last decade, smartphones are more and more abundant in our daily life with always new efficient proposed services but augmented reality systems suffer from a lack of performance to offer a well adapted tool in this context. the aim of this paper is then to propose a new approach coupling image processing and Digital Elevation Model (DEM) exploitation to remedy that shortcoming. the proposed method first discriminates skyline and non-skyline pixels and then introduces a realtime matching between previously extracted map and DEM. In order to evaluate objectively each step and our finalized tool, a new tagged dataset with ground-truth is created and will benefit the entire scientific community.

Human eye can easily distinguish objects in images, such as animals, plants or non-living objects that they already recognized. However, the same matter doesn't hold for computers that do not have the capability to recognize objects in images just like humans do. However, in computer vision world, an image can be represented by bag of visual words method using its local features to identify the image characteristics in order to distinguish objects in the image. In the process, bag of visual words has some stages in determining the characteristics of the interest points. In this study, the determination of the interest point is modified using the speed-up robust feature with histogram of oriented gradients in order to enhance the recognition of blurred images. Performance of this modification shows a consistent accuracy of 70% by using 5-scale detection of interest points, which can recognize blur patterns in images that is not only focused on prediction of image degradation model to classify blur area on images like those found in previous research works.

As the early stage of automobile production, the form design plays an important part for the product's success in the future market. However, the form design of a car is difficult and time-consuming because it is related to the considerations not only on aesthetics but also on engineering technology. this study proposes a parameterized CAD model used for the car form design and discusses the method to modify the model by changing some parameters. By analyzing the relationship between the sub-surfaces on the car surface, a geometry model is established for the half-car surface by 16 quadrilateral sub-surfaces. Each sub-surface is described by CE-Bézier surface. In this way, a parameterized CAD model for the half-car surface is established by taking the control points, shape parameters and trimming parameters of CE-Bézier surface as the parameters. Furthermore, the modifying methods for the CAD model are proposed by changing different kind of parameters. © 2017.

Patch-based approaches are used in state-of-the-art methods for image inpainting. this paper presents a new method for exemplar based image inpainting using transformed patches. the transformation is determined for each patch in a fully automatic way from a surrounding texture content. We build upon a recent affine invariant patch similarity measure that performs an appropriate patch comparison by automatically adapting the size and shape of the patches. As a consequence, it intrinsically extends the set of available source patches to copy information from. We incorporate this measure into a variational formulation for inpainting and present a numerical algorithm for optimizing it. We show that our method can be applied to complete a perspectively distorted texture as well as to automatically inpaint one view of a scene using other view of the same scene as a source. We present experimental results both for gray and color images, and a comparison with some exemplar-based image inpainting methods.

Demand for intelligent surveillance has been increasing, to automatically detect and prevent dangerous situations with surveillance cameras. image analysis, the most essential element in intelligent surveillance system, has continuously developed and contributed to the improvement. To analyze surveillance videos, foreground segmentation is vital which require background modeling. this paper proposes background modeling method which is robust to illumination variation and shadow area. Also, the proposed method is applicable to high-resolution videos in real time with modification for GPU implementation. We validate our method on different types of dataset including our new benchmark dataset to analyze the result quantitatively and qualitatively. the execution time of proposed method is 228.2 FPS for High Definition videos with NVIDIA GTX660. © 2017 ACM.

On the basis of the evaluation of local properties of the data many nonlinear techniques have been suggested the field of computer vision. the application of the dimensionality reduction covers many fields like medical, geographical, simulation and many more. I have studied MDS, LLE and LTSA. Overall, the users a re allowed to access the search-tools in linear system. A review and systematic comparison of all the existing techniques has been presented in this paper. the outputs have been explained through identification of current non-linear techniques, and suggestions pertaining to the way the performance of nonlinear dimensionality reduction techniques can be improved. the Purpose of this idea is based on the to implement it in manifold fields by analyzing the result of face detector and recognizer for multiple people in real time with Principal Component analysis on eigen face. According to the most recent research, some issues are confronted in the security at public places. the efficiency and accuracy of these problems can be improved with the range and intricacy of camera networks are booming and the audited surroundings have become more and more entangled and crowded. How these emerging challenges are faced is discussed in the paper.
