In recent years, the demand for gears in the fields of electric vehicles and robots has become higher and higher. It is urgent to realize the rapid measurement and evaluation of the three-dimensional tooth flank of ***, a gear line laser three-dimensional measurment instrument has been designed and developed. Based on the Visual Studio platform, the test and control software of the line laser three-dimensional measuring instrument has been independently developed and designed. It has the functions of gear parameter input, line laser sensor pose parameter calibration, laser three-dimensional measurement of gear tooth flank information, tooth flank quality evaluation, printing report and so on. the system calibration coordinate system is established, create a transpose matrix to realize the conversion between coordinate systems, and the least square fitting optimization program is used to realize the calibration of the pose parameters of the line laser sensor. the 3d point cloud resampling model of gear measurement is constructed, and different filtering algorithms are integrated to realize the preprocessing of gear 3d point cloud data and obtain the full information point cloud data of the gear. the 3d model of gear tooth profile evaluation range is constructed, and the rapid measurement and evaluation of gear tooth profile deviation, pitch deviation and topological deviation are realized. the experimental results show that the software runs stably and reliably on site, and the evaluation results are consistent with the traditional contact measurement results, which can realize the three-dimensional measurement of gear line laser. © 2023 IEEE.

Virtual Reality (VR) technology profoundly influences museums by facilitating artifact collection, preservation, and remote accessibility to traditional cultures. VR transcends physical constraints, enabling visitors to engage with exhibits across diverse locations. the effective utilization of content is crucial for constructing a virtual domain that evokes a positive impression and fosters memories. this experimental study aimed to scrutinize the influence of interactive and non-interactive content on visitors' memory and attractiveness while engaging with VR in museum environments. Simulated exhibition halls feature three rooms with interactive content, such as opening windows to view videos, manipulating and observing 3d models of exhibits, and pressing buttons to explore the relationships between exhibits. Additionally, the three rooms featured non-interactive content. Twenty-four participants observed all virtual museum content, evaluating recognition memory and attractiveness through questionnaires. the experimental results, analyzed via average scores, reveal significantly higher memory scores for interactive content with no difference in perceived attractiveness. Interactive content enhances memory efficiency without affecting attractiveness perception, emphasizing its pivotal role in creating impactful visitor experiences. © 2024 IEEE.

Using traditional depth and image-based methods for reconstructing eyeglass frames poses significant challenges due to their unique properties, such as minimal textural features and thin components. In this paper, we propose a novel self-supervised approach for reconstructing eyeglass frames based on vertex displacement prediction. this method enables the precise 3d shape recovery of full-frame eyeglass models from multi-view images. To begin, we first establish an eyeglasses frame template, leveraging prior and domain-specific knowledge. Subsequently, when provided with an input image of an eyeglass frame characterized by thin structures and few texture features, we develop an iterative self-supervised camera pose estimation module to accurately predict the camera pose. Following this, we employ a self-supervised vertex offset prediction network to extract features from both the input multi-view images and the 3d template eyeglass frame model. this network predicts the vertex displacement of the frame to be reconstructed relative to the template frame model. We iteratively optimize the network to obtain precise vertex offsets by minimizing the image loss between rendered images and input images using differentiable rendering. Experimental findings from both synthetic and real datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method. © 2025 SPIE.

this paper presents a 3d multiple object detection and tracking framework for identifying and quantifying changes in fish behaviour through tracking the 3d position, distance and speed of fish with respect to an underwater stereo camera. the framework consists of six essential modules based on 3d object detection to identify fish and multiple object tracking algorithms to track the fish in sequential frames. In particular, the latest version of Yolo (Yolov7) is utilised for object detection and the deep SORT algorithm is used for multiple object tracking. the framework was tested using videos captured from an underwater stereo camera in an industrial-scale sea-based fish farm. the results showed that the framework was able to accurately detect and track multiple fish in 3d. the fish position, distance and speed relative to the camera were also successfully detected. the results of this study demonstrate the effectiveness of this framework in identifying and quantifying changes in fish behaviour. the proposed novel framework has the potential to greatly enhance our understanding of fish behaviour in their natural habitats, leading to new insights into fish ecology and behaviour, while at the same time, it can enable researchers to study fish behaviour in a more detailed and accurate way. © 2024 SPIE. Personalized 3d human avatars hold great potential in the digital era, and this also enables interesting fashion applications such as virtual try-on, virtual fashion shows, and immersive online shopping experiences. Nevertheless, personalized avatars are seldom used in the fashion industry due to the requirements of specialized equipment and the tedious and computationally demanding nature of traditional personalized face modeling processes. In this paper, a novel method is presented for creating personalized fashion avatars by reconstructing a realistic 3d face from a single image. the proposed method involves transferring customized 3d facial shape and appearance, reconstructed from a single face image, onto full-body avatars with varying topologies suitable for different fashion applications. through a comprehensive comparison with state-of-the-art face reconstruction methods, the proposed method has demonstrated high realism and richer facial details. this technology has already been applied in an augmented reality (AR) mobile application, enabling users to engage in virtual try-on experience of fashion. © 2023 proceedings of the international conferences on Interfaces and Human Computer Interaction 2023, IHCI 2023;Computer Graphics, Visualization, Computer Vision and Image Processing 2023, CGVCVIP 2023;and Game and Entertainment Technologies 2023, GET 2023. Hannan Limitation provides the radiation efficiency limit for large 2d planar antenna arrays, which demonstrates the inevitable radiation efficiency degradation caused by mutual coupling effects between array elements. However, this limitation is derived based on the assumption of infinitely large 2d arrays, which means that it is not an accurate law for small-size arrays. In this paper, we extend this theory and propose an estimation formula for the upper limit of radiation efficiency for finite-sized 2d arrays. Furthermore, we derive the fundamental efficiency and gain limit for a double-layer 3d array structure. through simulations, we further demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed theories and gain advantages of 3d arrays under various scenarios and conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

LEGOs have been a popular game for individuals of all ages, offering a means for creative expression and skill demonstration. However, the traditional design process for new LEGO-like models can be costly and time-consuming, leading to potential resource waste. To address these challenges, we propose the development of a virtual design application that leverages LEGO-like bricks to create 3d models inspired by Islamic art. Our application aims to enable users to easily design and modify virtual prototypes, reducing the risk and expenses associated with physical prototyping. Furthermore, the application facilitates the conversion of these designs into 3d mesh models suitable for 3d printing. A video play-back feature allows users to record and revisit their creative process, fostering sharing and reflection. By combining the timeless appeal of LEGO-like bricks with digital technology, our project aims to provide individuals with a platform to explore the world of Islamic art, express their creativity, and showcase their skills through 3d printing. this work not only offers a novel approach to LEGO-like designs but also nurtures a vibrant and interconnected community of LEGO enthusiasts and architectural enthusiasts alike. © 2024 IEEE.

Immersive Analytics brings 3d data visualization to virtual reality, immersing users directly into the data. the technology focuses on bringing humans and computers closer together to develop human intuition via human computer interaction. In order to effectively utilize this technique to benefit data analytics, principles must be established to see what kind of 3d user interfaces are the best fit for an everyday immersive analytics platform. In an immersive environment embedded with natural hand interaction, we found that users who perform in a static state, where no physical or virtual navigation of the environment is present, are more beneficial to the interpretation of the data. Prior VR experience and spatial ability also affect the completion time of given task, while reported human factors in gender and age do not seem to play a major role.

In biology, arborized structures are well represented and typically complex for visualization and analysis. In order to have a profound understanding of the topology of arborized 3d biological model, higher level abstraction is needed. We aim at constructing an abstraction of arborized 3d biological model to an L-system that provides a generalized formalization in a grammar to represent complex structures. the focus of this paper is to combine 3d visualization, analysis and L-system abstraction into a single web application. We designed a front-end user interface and a back-end. In the front-end, we used A-Frame and defined algorithms to generate and visualize L-systems. In the back-end, we utilized the Vascular Modelling Toolkit’s (VMTK) centerline analysis methods to extract important features from the arborized 3d models, which can be applied to L-system generation. In addition, two 3d biological models: lactiferous duct and artery are used as two case studies to verify the functionality of this web application. In conclusion, our web application is able to visualize, analyse and create L-system abstractions of arborized 3d models. this in turn provides workflow-improving benefits, easy accessibility and extensibility. © 2024 by SCITEPRESS–Science and technology Publications, Lda.

3d Virtualisation refers to the process of creation of graphical contents using 3d softwares. these include images and animations that improve the communication and provide the users with a more realistic online experience. It is also used to demonstrate either a prototype or a finished product to the stakeholders. In the present, the customers and learners prefer viewing and learning the virtual model of the product in order to efficiently understand the concept, theory and principle behind it. In this case, 3d virtualization provides an excellent opportunity for customers and learners to see the layout of the product design, texture and working model as animation. © 2023 IEEE.
