Different contemporary organisations are using cloud computing application in business operation activities to gain competitive advantages over other competitors. It also helps in promoting flexibility of the business operation activities. Cloud computing involves delivery of different computer resources to data centres over the internet services. Different kinds of delivered computer resources include data storage, servers, database, analytics, software, networking, and other types of data applications etc. In this present era of data breaches, cloud computing ensures security protocols to protect different kinds of sensitive transaction data and confidential information. Use of cloud computing ensures that a third party individual does not tamper the data. Use of cloud computing also provides different kinds of competitive advantages to the organisations. Cloud computing also helps in providing efficiency and a platform for innovation for the contemporary organisations. Theoretical frameworks are used in the literature review section to determine the important roles of cloud computing in effective data and security management in the organisations. It is also justified in the research work that qualitative methodology is suitable for the researcher to meet the developed research objectives. A secondary data analysis approach has been considered by the researcher in this study to carry out the investigation and meet the developed objectives. From the findings, few challenges associated with the cloud computing system have been identified. Proper recommendations are suggested at the end of the study to help future researchers in overcoming the identified associated challenges. © 2022 IEEE.

This study examines how librarians in Korean academic libraries perceive the usefulness of bibliographic enhancement data (BIBED) elements in cataloging tasks. Through a survey, it evaluates their perceptions of these elements' utility in scenarios involving searches for known items, unknown items, and related items. Additionally, by comparing various data models/metadata schemas, it proposes potential application profiles for book descriptions. This research highlights the importance of integrating user-centered elements into library catalogs and underscores the role of linked data technology in better meeting user needs. © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Attracting and retaining women and minorities in science, technology, engineering and mathematic (STEM) fields is a common challenge faced by today's universities. In response, various projects that are underway across the nation seek to increase these groups' interests in and, hopefully, their eventual participation in STEM. A challenge to these efforts has been measuring, in the short term, the impact of educational programs on students' interests with respect to STEM fields. Many of the current attitude surveys are outdated or have limited validity. This paper describes the validation of an attitude survey which was designed to measure high school students' attitudes with respect to the field of information technology (IT). The attitude survey contains two researcher-defined factors: general interest in IT and perception of gender stereotypes in IT. The attitude survey successfully captured differences in students' attitudes across year of program implementation and ethnicity in a high school IT educational program. © 2011 American Society for Engineering education.

During the pandemic, learning had to take place online. Children who came from the remote and rural areas were among the most disadvantaged in education due to geographical separation and limited infrastructure. Many existing learning tools were not able to be used in these rural areas, as integration of video conferencing and other functions required high bandwidth. Instead, it was found that teachers had resorted to disseminating the materials by hand to the students, or ab(using) their own private social media applications to share notes and assignments to the students. This prompts a low bandwidth solution to be designed specifically to aid mobile learning in areas where connectivity was a challenge. Several students and teachers from rural, secondary-level schools including that in Song, Sarawak and Bachok, Kelantan, were invited to co-design a web application, BURDLE (Bridging the Urban-Rural Divide in Learning) that can be used on both desktop and mobile phone. BURDLE requires a small amount of bandwidth to function as it strips off unnecessary functions in most learning management system and has the look-and-feel of general social media apps, offering familiarity and fluidity among its users. The design process and challenges in designing and evaluating the performance of BURDLE is presented in this study. © 2024 acm.

Students' learning behaviors in an online learning environment can be automatically recorded by learning systems. Such learning records provide new opportunities to model students' learning process. On the other hand, it has become more common to see students having wearable devices that assist in tracking their personal physical activities. These activity tracking can be integrated into a data-rich context for training students for developing their data-informed self-direction skills. We are building the GOAL (Goal Oriented Active Learner) system to support the development of self-direction skills using learning and health activity data. A key phase in any self-directed activity is goal setting and planning. This paper will introduce how to build a new model for self-planning and support the acquisition of planning skills in the GOAL system. We combine learners’ data from the self-directed activity and their interaction trace to build the model in the GOAL system. The modeling involves computing of trend value and degree of plan difficulty, then diagnosis of planning skills using a 5-point scoring criteria. An adaptive support is selected based on the computed score. The contribution of this work is modeling planning and promoting planning skills in a data-driven manner. Our approach grounds the theory of self-direction skills and enables learners to develop the skills in everyday life. © 2019 International conference on computers in education, *** right reserved.

This study, focused on the simulation of an SMR filter, consists of Solidly Mounted Resonator (SMR) about various top electrode materials, thickness and ladder-type’s stages. The SMR structure is constructed of a piezoelectric layer, electrodes, Bragg reflector and substrate. In order to improve the manufacturing processes, the Mason model and Butterworth-Van-Dyke (BVD) model are adopted as a simulation tool to help us maintain a competitive edge through efficient product design. According to the design rules of SMR, the bottom electrode layer is less important because of being the node in the quarter wavelength mode. The various top electrode materials with thicknesses were taken into calculation using the Mason model. Simulation result shows that the heavy mass material will cause the large resonant frequency shifting. Increasing the top electrode thickness will also increase the mass loading on SMR caused resonating frequency decreased. For the SMR filter, the amount of ladder-type stages is also investigated. The result exhibits ladder-type stages increase will increase filter’s bandwidth. Besides, the Bragg reflector formed with stacking quarter wavelength thick SiO2/Mo. © 2015 Taylor & Francis Group, London.

The current state of technology with recent explosions in the digital processing of paperwork, computer networking use, and online and virtual approaches to areas, which until very recently had traditional and non-computerized ways of operating, led to a steady increase in the demand for jobs in the area of computer science and cybersecurity. The education system, the pipeline for the incoming workforce, needs to keep up with this tremendous pace in technology and the job market. The current K-12 school system has been extensively challenged to fill out necessary positions in order to address the increasing need for programs that respond to industry and government entity gaps in employment. The COVID-19 pandemic forced a large segment of the economy to swiftly move to virtual working and virtual learning. This further increased the already large demand for cybersecurity jobs and accelerated the pace at which the development of necessary education pathways is required. The education system, on all different levels, needs to adjust to this pace in order to enable a large number of future graduates to fill these new jobs. There is currently a large gap in the number of K-12 level teachers available in the area of career and technical education. One possible solution to this problem may come from a specific segment of the workforce, veterans. This paper will provide an overview of different challenges that many veterans are facing after joining career switcher programs for future teachers. © American Society for Engineering education, 2021

Person search aims to locate a query person in a gallery of unconstrained scene images, which has many real-world applications. However, existing methods directly build off of advances in object detection for better performance rather than efficiency. Complex designs in heavy-weight detectors are redundant for person search. Furthermore, challenges in person search force existing methods to employ additional modules, which greatly deteriorates models' efficiency. In this paper, we propose a novel real-time framework for both effective and efficient person search, termed as InvarPS. InvarPS optimizes the over-designed network with invariant feature learning. Specifically, considering the main challenges (i.e., appearance changes, scale variations, and conflicting tasks) in person search, we propose an improved backbone, a Single-Scale Feature Fusion (SSFF) module and a Hierarchical Decoupling Head (HDH) to facilitate the model learning appearance, scale, and task invariant features, respectively. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance with real-time speed (>100 FPS), which is significantly faster than any previous competitive approach. © 2023 IEEE.

Using the automated code-checking capability of the WebToTeach system, we have built WebToTest, a system for administering on-line programming examination. The system successfully addresses many of the issues raised by recent work in on-line exams by providing reliable automatic checking of exam questions and a secure, restricted programming environment useable by the students during the exam. Its web-based character makes it amenable to distance education applications. Furthermore, because examinations may be administered on any collection of computers that provide a browser, and thus do not require reservation of the student programming labs.

After the outbreak of the epidemic, the problem of infection risk has been greatly enlarged. Therefore, in order to treat infectious diseases and reduce the infection risk between people, it is necessary to solve unnecessary contact at the root, so this epidemic promotes the trend of 'machine substitution'. An intelligent drug delivery robot based on ARM for face comparison is proposed. The intelligent drug delivery robot with STM 32 embedded system as the core, combining K210 neural network face recognition, upper tact control, voice prompt, intelligent security obstacle avoidance and autonomous tracking is designed. Intelligent robot based on STM32F103ZET6 single-chip computer, equipped with K210 and KPU neural network operator, through HC-06 face recognition, communication with the computer, voice prompt function and ultrasonic obstacle avoidance, using MPU605066 axis gyroscope, JGB 37-520 DC deceleration motor and Tb6612 drive motor control the robot posture and operation, in the complex working environment accurately and safely complete the target tasks. Through the experimental test of the system, the operation efficiency and stability of the intelligent robot are verified, which has a certain promotion value in the society. © 2024 IEEE.
