Based on the finite element analysis software Open Sees,the flexural behaviors of ECC-RC composite beams reinforced with FRP bars is *** results show that cracking,yield and ultimate moment increase with the increasing of height replacement rate and the increasing rate slow down *** and ultimate moment increase with the increasing of reinforcement ratio or reinforcement *** stiffness of ECC-RC composite beams reinforced with steel bars essentially unchanged after the cracking of *** decreasing of ECC-RC composite beams reinforced with FRP bars is slower than RC beams reinforced with FRP bars after cracking.

Automatic code review (ACR), aiming to relieve manual inspection costs, is an indispensable and essential task in software engineering. The existing works only use the source code fragments to predict the results, missing the exploitation of developer's comments. Thus, we present a Multi-Modal Apache Automatic Code Review dataset (MACR) for the Multi-Modal ACR task. The release of this dataset would push forward the research in this field. Based on it, we propose a Contrastive Learning based Multi-Modal Network (CLMN) to deal with the Multi-Modal ACR task. Concretely, our model consists of a code encoding module and a text encoding module. For each module, we use the dropout operation as minimal data augmentation. Then, the contrastive learning method is adopted to pre-train the module parameters. Finally, we combine the two encoders to fine-tune the CLMN to decide the results of Multi-Modal ACR. Experimental results on the MACR dataset illustrate that our proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art methods. © 2022 Knowledge Systems Institute Graduate School. All rights reserved.

Bandwidth limitation is an unavoidable constraint when data is transmitted from local sensor to the estimation center in networked systems. As a result, quantization strategy is often used to deal with this constraint during the design of networked state estimators. In this paper, we compare the performance of three quantized estimators with different transmitted data forms, such as the original measurement, the innovation and the local estimation. Firstly, adaptive bit quantization is introduced to deal with the bandwidth limitation constraint. Secondly, three quantized state estimators are introduced. Actually, they adopt the same quantizing strategy. Intervals and common variance upper approximation method are also used. Thirdly, we compare estimation accuracies of the three quantized estimators by using their estimation error co-variances. Finally, a simple simulation is demonstrated to validate the conclusion in our comparison. The results show that these three quantized filters have very similar estimation accuracy. © 2012 IEEE.

With the continuous expansion of Internet commerce and the rapid increase in both amount and types of products, recommendation algorithms play an important role in selecting items of interest to users. Although the classic collaborative filtering recommendation algorithms are simple in principle and has low time complexity, it fails to make full use of the user tags generated by users, which may contain implicit user preferences, resulting in low prediction accuracy and cold start problems. Besides, the classic collaborative filtering algorithms don't take privacy disclosure issues into consideration, and may expose user preferences during the recommendation process. In order to solve the above problems, a recommendation algorithm named DP-SRAUT (Differentially Private SVD Recommendation Algorithm with User Tags) is presented in the paper. The DP-SRAUT algorithm firstly pre-processes the user's evaluation tag set of items, then generates the users' semantic preference matrix for items, and the biased SVD approach is used for prediction and item recommendation with the integration of the users' semantic preference matrix. To preserving user privacy, Laplace noise is added during the training process to meet ϵ -difference privacy. Experiment results on the Movielens dataset show that the proposed algorithm achieves better accuracy in condition of keeping user privacy. © 2021 IEEE.

Many Chinese cities have been experiencing severe pollution. To reduce the environmental impacts of transport pollution and purse sustainable developments of society, many cites in China have adopted transport policies that primarily aim to reduction in ownership and usage of motor vehicles and promote use of public transport. The primary solution should be the development of mass public transit systems, e.g. public bike rental systems. Public bike rental systems have received increasing attention in recent years with initiatives to increase public transport usage and lessen the environmental impacts. However, most of the universities in China are located in the suburbs. The limited coverage of public bike rental systems and transportation network offers college students limited access to public transit systems. We design an efficient mobile system for bike sharing on campus, with the aim of improving travel conditions for students at institutions of higher education. The bike sharing system includes two parts, i.e. client and server. Client is designed based on Android system and server is designed based on Openstack cloud computing system. The bike sharing system can bring information of bike sharing and entertainment together from diverse sources on campus in a uniform way. The bike sharing system provides a consistent look and feel with access control and procedures for multiple applications and databases of bike sharing and entertainment. We divide the bike sharing system into five functional modules, i.e. login module, lessor module, lessee module and administrator module. By integrating the designs of four modules, we use Eclipse and MySQL to implement the bike sharing system based on Android. © 2019 IEEE.

The mission of IMPEL is to facilitate lifelong learning for the production engineering STEM workforce through designing sustainable, pedagogically proven data science curricula via modular courses with interactive online learning labs and experiential project-based learning. The planned tasks for IMPEL include an online curriculum design and development targeting professionals, undergraduates and community college students interested in advancing their skills in data science in the context of Industry 4.0 and intelligent manufacturing. The project team has accomplished several main tasks towards the goals of the project in Year 1, to be detailed in this paper. © American Society for Engineering education, 2021

A novel content-based multi-scale network (CMNet) is proposed in this paper for conducting single image super-resolution (SISR). Its core lies in a content-based multi-scale image representation (CMIR), which is motivated by the fact that the contents of real-world images normally have different scales. Thus, it is expected that individual treatments of these contents would yield superior SISR performance. In our CMIR, the difference curvature (DCurv) is first exploited to generate a primal sketch of the input image. Then, a filter bank is designed and used to obtain a set of coefficient matrices, and each matrix reflects the characteristics of the image content at the corresponding scale. Based on these coefficient matrices, the CMIR of the input image is formed. To conduct SISR, each scale of CMIR is processed individually in our CMNet, and the produced multi-scale outputs are then integrated to arrive at the final SISR image with a higher image quality. Extensive experiments have demonstrated that our developed CMNet can deliver superior performance compared with a number of state-of-the-art SISR methods. © 2023 IEEE.

The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and the Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering (Olin) are establishing a student-centered hands-on interactive approach to engineering education (similar to Olin's) at UTEP, where it will reside in UTEP's innovative B.S. in Leadership Engineering (LE) program. The goal of the proposed collaboration is to catalyze UTEP's educational innovation through a cross-campus collaboration between the two institutions by incorporating the Olin educational process, both design and features, into the first offerings of the Bachelor of science in Leadership Engineering (BSLE) program. Specifically, the collaboration includes faculty exchanges between the two institutions;a series of retreats for planning and assessment;curriculum development;and student recruitment practices. The 21st century workplace demands a new engineer - one who effectively contributes to solving problems using innovation, creativity, and strategic foresight. Graduates of the Olin-UTEP developed Bachelor of science in Leadership Engineering (LE) program will possess these attributes through the program's rigorous yet flexible major in engineering, and in-depth study of leadership and its effect upon technology and society. Traditionally, object detection models use axis-aligned bounding boxes (AABBs), but these are often a poor fit for elongated object instances, such as wheat heads. Using rotated bounding box (RBB) annotations can improve object detection results, but RBBs are much more time-consuming and tedious to annotate than AABBs for large datasets. In this work, we propose a novel annotation tool for producing high-quality RBB annotations with low time and effort. The tool generates accurate RBB proposals for objects of interest as the annotator makes progress through the dataset. It can also adapt available AABBs to generate RBB proposals. Furthermore, a multipoint box drawing system is provided to reduce manual annotation time. Across three diverse datasets, we show that the proposal generation methods can achieve a maximum of 88.92% manual workload reduction. We also show that our proposed manual annotation method is twice as fast as the existing system with the same accuracy. Lastly, we publish the RBB annotations for two public datasets. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
