With the rapid development of online social networks (OSNs), a huge amount of user generated online content is gradually affecting people's lives. Popularity prediction of online content aims to predict the popularity in the future based on its early diffusion status. Existing models for popularity prediction are mostly based on discovering network features or fitting the equation into a varying time function which seldom make full use of the law of sociology. The main contribution of this article is to solve the problem that the accuracy of current popularity prediction model is not high enough and few or no work based on sociology. In this paper, we find that there exists a high linear correlation between the proportion of faithful fans in Facebook homepage with frequent shares in the early and the future popularity. The statistical results about Facebook remind us that the weak ties theory plays an important role in prediction task. Furthermore, an experimental study clearly illustrates that the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2019 IEEE.

With the development of market economic, customer churn prediction play a critical role in the company management. How-ever, customer information is complex, it contains multi-dimensional features. What's worse, the number of customer churn very small among the whole consumers, and the features of customer are dynamically changing, which is challenging for traditional statistical methods. Fortunately, as the rise of edge computing, more computing related to data-intensive applications will be de-centralized to edge smart terminals. Moreover, edge computing focuses on real-Time, short-cycle analysis, which is useful for dealing with dynamic changes problems in customer features. Therefore, to address these issues about customer messages, this paper proposes a simple and effective model to predictive customer churn with a higher accuracy, named L-RBF. The basic idea is to utilize Lasso Regression algorithm (Lasso) for optimizing Radial Basis Function Neural Network (RBF). At first, placing customer features on edge terminals, and Lasso is utilized to extract the correlated features of customer churn. Then, according to the correlated features and lasso regression equation, we can automatically set the topology and parameter information of RBF. Finally, experimental results indicate that L-RBF has a higher recall rate and stronger prediction classification ability compared with the previous work, included Logistic Regression (Log-R), RBF and Boosting. © 2019 IEEE.

Scholars studying social media have embraced the opportunities afforded by behavioral data captured by online tools to explore the implications of platform use for outcomes such as well-being, relationship maintenance, and perceptions of social capital. However, the prevalence of these methods demands that we consider their potential limitations and the question of how to best combine them with more traditional methods, such as self-report surveys. For this panel, scholars will share brief presentations then engage with the audience, and each other, to identify concerns, opportunities, and best practices. Guiding questions include: What is lost when we rely exclusively on click-based data? How can researchers better measure and account for "invisible" interactions such as exchanges that are triggered by social media, but occur in other channels? What principles are important to bear in mind as we attempt to capture, document, and understand contemporary social media practices?

This paper aims to answer the following research question: 'How to build an efficient kick strategy for agents in the 2D Simulation League?'. The robot soccer provides an opportunity for students and professionals to apply their concepts of intelligent agent development. One of the main challenges of this game is to decide when a player must kick the ball to the goal. The proposed solution to solve this question is a data mining approach. The solution consists of three components: 1) use of the Random Forest technique as a classifier, 2) enrichment of the database through the construction of new variables and 3) Features Selection. In order to validate the proposed solution, a comparative study between the original kick strategy of a base team and the solution proposed was conducted. Experiments showed that the proposed approach delivers a performance superior. The results showed that the proposed policy reached a winning rate of 65% against 28% of the original. © 2019 IEEE.

Our full day-workshop focuses on challenges encountered by researchers attempting to design and conduct studies that span 2 or more social computing platforms, such as parallel sites for different language populations, different platforms, or different user experience designs. social computing researchers are increasingly interested in these studies that examine user behavior across different sites. For example, researchers have conducted multi-sited studies to understand user behavior across culture, language, and media. In such studies, researchers are challenged to develop and execute methodologies that allow them to navigate frameworks that enable comparisons among multiple sites. Researchers face challenges adapting their methodologies to handle diverse populations, regulations, large datasets and more. The goal of this workshop is to come to a common understanding of what multi-site research is and how we can continue to expand and incentivize this form of research within the CSCW community.

Digital employment tools ought to support job seekers in developing viable career paths while preparing them with necessary skills for employment. This is particularly important for job seekers who are not highly educated and lack access to resources such as career counseling. We designed, implemented, and conducted a preliminary evaluation of a prototype-DreamGigs, a tool to help job seekers understand the career-related skills they would need to obtain to reach their "dream" job or gig. Our preliminary results suggest that DreamGigs helps job seekers understand what skills employers need, identify potential pathways towards their career goals, and access opportunities to gain the skills needed to achieve their goals. We contribute the design of this tool, our implementation, and the results of our initial evaluation with low-resource job seekers.

A lot of information in the social network is accompanied by the continuous transmission of users, and there are many forms of propagation, fermentation, evolution, emergence and outbreaks, which make it difficult for analysts to predict the information dissemination situation at the next moment. However, if the information dissemination can be effectively predicted and perceived, it plays a very important role in hot event discovery, personalized information recommendation, bad information early warning and so on. Therefore, the study of this problem is of great practical value. This paper first study of situational awareness information transmission method, including the definition of information dissemination situational awareness problem and expounds the basic thought, and analyzes the information dissemination situation and level of the modularity, the relationship between the three exponential smoothing is used for information dissemination model for situational awareness, and to evaluate the application effect of the model has carried on the detailed;In addition, this chapter also studies the prediction method of information spread outburst, including the definition of information explosion, the analysis of related factors that affect the prediction of information dissemination, and the modeling and evaluation of the information outburst prediction model. In addition, some issues related to which features are more sensitive to information explosion prediction are also studied. © 2019, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Inspired by the acm SIGCHI Across Borders Initiative, this workshop focuses on ongoing CSCW research in, or about, Latin America (LATAM). We seek to position LATAM as the common context that unites students, academic and industry researchers who participate in the workshop. Our goals are: (1) to discuss the opportunities and challenges of doing CSCW research centered on LATAM, (2) to collaboratively mentor emerging projects focused on LATAM, and (3) to make LATAM research projects more visible to the international community. Senior CSCW researchers from LATAM and other regions will be invited to discuss the work presented at the event in order to facilitate a greater integration of Latin American CSCW into the CSCW community at large.

Community detection is an effective tool for mining hidden information in social networks. Label propagation is a widely used and effective community detection algorithm. A lot of work has been done based on label propagation for standalone machine computing. While in location based social networks (LBSN), paralleled label propagation is needed to deal with large scale datasets. In this paper, we propose paralleled label propagation using MapReduce in Hadoop which improves the efficiency of community detection in the LBSN. We apply community detection to explore the friendship circles among the users and within each friendship circle recommend POI for each user. In the LBSN, we establish the user-location network and define the user-location score to calculate users' similarity. Comparing to direct recommendation, our method improves the accuracy of the recommendation and recall rate, the recommended effect has been improved. © 2019 IEEE.
