Indoor navigation of mobile robots require representation of environment satisfying such requirements: assured reach of goal point, possibility to return to planned path after disturbance, possibly optimal length of path. The environment representation by set of vectors placed in the movement area is proposed. Each vector is placed at the turning-point of a path along tangent of an obstacle, causing turn of the path, and has a weight value - distance to the goal point. It is shown, that a set of vector marks, unique for the each goal point, ensure movement of a robot by the path near of optimal one. Simulated examples of robot navigation are presented.

controlling of mobile robots in an unknown and changing environment with obstacles is one of the main tasks in robotics. Different strategies exist to design control systems to perform the robot movement. In this article, the possibility to use a skilled operator's knowledge for autonomous mobile robotcontrol is presented. It is useful to teach a robot's control algorithm with aid of skilled operator - human expert because his ability to control a robot is obvious. While controlling a robot with a joystick we gather data from sensors and record speeds of the wheels. Then the data can be used to train artificial neural network for robotcontrol. After the training, the robot can repeat operator's actions and move safely in the environment.

Kernel machines (e.g. SVM, KLDA) have shown state-of-the-art performance in several visual classification tasks. The classification performance of kernel machines greatly depends on the choice of kernels and its parameters. In this paper, we propose a method to search over the space of parameterized kernels using a gradient-based method. Our method effectively learns a non-linear representation of the data useful for classification and simultaneously performs dimensionality reduction. In addition, we introduce a new matrix formulation that simplifies and unifies previous approaches. The effectiveness and robustness of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated in both synthetic and real examples of pedestrian and mouth detection in images.
