Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a worldwide major medical problem. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) staging is important for the estimation of DM and the evaluation of associated retinopathy. According to the international clinical diabetic retinopathy & diabetic macular edema disease severity scales, most of the dilated ophthalmoscopy observable findings are associated with retinal blood vessels. In order to objectively and accurately determine the diabetic retinopathy stages, it is essential to automatically detect and extract retinal blood vessels in fundoscopic images. This paper introduces and compares various convolutional neural networks to recognize retinal blood vessels in fundoscopic images. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Currently there is a growing concern over the issue of peer-to-peer (P2P) lending. A key challenge for personal investors in P2P lending marketplaces is how to accurately identify the subject of loan funds and how to effectively evaluate the profit and risk of the subject in the context of lending success. In this paper, we use the nuclear regression model to evaluate the probability of successful lending, to provide effective frontier for investors, and to give the optimal combination of the recommended bids for the lenders under different risk preferences. Finally we verify the scheme with data from Paipai Lending, the largest P2P network lending website in China. Experimental results reveals that the scheme can effectively provide investors more investment options.

Recognizing Textual Entailment (RTE) is a task of Natural language processing (NLP) in which two text fragments denoted Text (T) and Hypothesis (H) are processed by a system to determine whether the meaning of H is entailed from T or not. This task is necessary for numerous natural language processing applications. Thus, several approaches have been proposed to deal with the RTE task, miming from shallow approaches based on measuring lexical similarity to advanced approaches based on semantic interpretation and deep application of machinelearning algorithms. In this paper, we present an approach to deal with Textual Entailment for Arabic language based on machinelearning and text alignment modeled as an optimization problem. The aim of this work is to experiment how well state of the art Arabic NLP tools, resources and alignment technique work when applied to Arabic RTE. We report the performance of our system on an existing Arabic RTE dataset and we achieve encouraging results. (C) 2019 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.
