To develop an FPGA-based controller, we proposed the architecture and implementation schemes for the controller and determined the technical indexes for the design. The schemes include the board layout and design of the logic daughter card for the architecture of the FPGA-based controller. To improve reliability, self-diagnosis and self-protection circuits are included in the controller design. The data communication design mainly consists of backplane serial data communication, a 422/485 serial data communication daughter card, and an I/O daughter card. We developed a prototype controller and established a propellant loading prototype control system for a space launch site. Experimental results show that the performance of the designed FPGA-based controller meets the major technical indexes. The controller is then compared with existing PLCs. The comparison shows that the FPGA-based controller has higher reliability, faster response time, and better performance. (C) 2020 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

This paper demonstrates possibility of solving considered problem using direct method, involving cubic Hermite splines and a population-based optimization algorithm for generating control signals. Human need safety, comfort, and speed in driving-requirements that can be fulfiled by autonomous vehicles that enable drivers to avoid obstacles and maintain a safe distance from other motorists. These function are executed through lateral vehicle control, which has been the subject of considerable research. The current research was aimed at providing a comprehensive review and description of previous investigations that implemented both conventional and innovative lateral control methods, such as proportional-integral-derivative control, fuzzy logic, artificial intelligence, neural networks, genetic algorithms, and combined approaches. The evaluated studies were also classified into two categories, namely simulation and experimental research that used real-world tools. The paper concludes with a recomendation to use an alternative method called direct inverse control. Which is a modification of neural network-based control. This method is advantageous because it uses output/input feedback, thereby effectively functioning in unpredicable terrain. This feature is highly suitable because autonomous vehicles are non-linear system.

In badminton matches, lob is a special technique and can be classified into two categories: defensive and offensive. These lobs are difficult to quantitatively measure, analyze, and evaluate. In this paper, we propose a new aerodynamic model to estimate the 3D trajectory from a single camera video and evaluate the performance of lobs. The experimental results show that this model is reliable. Offensive lobs are easily identified by the height of the trajectory. Good lobs are placed farther from the opponent than the bad lobs.
