As an important node of international logistics channels, international dry ports play an important role in the development of open economy in the central inland areas. Based on the study of the status quo of international dry port operation and construction in the central region, the paper summarized the characteristics of two different business pattern leading by enterprise and government respectively and made the pros&cons analysis. the further discussion concluded the elements affecting the decision of operating pattern of dry port. the paper build the index model to evaluate the efficiency of these two business pattern via the infrastructure and logistics, the regional economy, market and service, development and cooperation perspective, the comprehensive results calculated by the Fuzzy-AHP method showed that the enterprise-dominant pattern is superior to the government-dominant one, since the logistics business, regional economic development level and market prospects are more important for the operation of the international port operations in the central inland region. © 2019 proceedings of the 8th international conference on Logistics and Systems Engineering 2018. the efficiency of in-plant milk-run systems greatly depends on the cycle time. Next to the driving, the scenarios at the depot and stops are its main influences. these operations are affected by process organization, technical design and infrastructure. However, variable as well as dynamic loading and clearing scenarios are rarely considered in simulation-oriented research. this paper therefore presents a generic modeling approach based on a finite state machine, which allows a rebuild of common scenarios influenced by a variety of parameters. In addition, the influence of parameter characteristics is analyzed through discrete-event simulation experiments using the developed modeling approach.

Accurate detection of cardiac pathological events is an important part of electrocardiogram (ECG) evaluation and subsequent correct treatment of the patient. For this purpose, several adaptive filter structures were proposed during the past decades for noise cancellation and arrhythmia detection. Currently there are a lot of devices on the market that analyze ECGs, such as patient monitors, stress test systems, and Holter analysis systems, that are able to detect beats and classify arrhythmia. this paper proposes a system for ECG analysis and heartbeat classification. the proposed solution relies on a combination of machine learning algorithm and a wavelet transformation in order to maximize its performance with the minimum possible training phase. Experimental results with public available data for arrhythmia indicate the efficiency in classifying heartbeats, whereas its low-computational and memory requirements makes it suitable for being implemented as part of an embedded (IoT) system.

this paper provides an overview of my PhD project that focuses on recognizing emotions in dementia by analyzing multi-modal expressions in autobiographical memories of older adults with dementia. the project aims for a better understanding how dementia influences emotional expressions and how dementia differs from the normal aging process. For this reason, spontaneous emotions will be elicited in autobiographical memories in two groups of older adults, one with dementia the other without, for comparison. Audio, video and physiological data will be collected at their home resulting in real-life environments. the emotional expressions can then be analyzed by extracting verbal, non-verbal, facial and gestural features from the audio, video and physiological data collected. In addition, a longitudinal study will be conducted with the older adults with dementia to investigate the longitudinal effect of dementia on emotions. A database of the emotional memories of these vulnerable groups will then be developed to contribute to the advancement of technologies for (automatic) multi-modal emotion recognition. the database will then be made available for the research community. Lastly, we will also develop visualization and statistical models to assess multi-modal patterns of emotion expression in these groups.

Document layout analysis is the most important part of converting scanned page images into search-able full text. An intensive amount of research is going on in the field of structured and semi-structured documents (journal articles, books, magazines, invoices) but not much in historical documents. Historical document digitization is a more challenging task than regular structured documents due to poor image quality, damaged characters, big amount of textual and non-textual noise. In the scientific community, the extraneous symbols from the neighboring page are considered as textual noise, while the appearances of black borders, speckles, ruler, different types of image etc. along the border of the documents are considered as non-textual noise. Existing historical document analysis method cannot handle all of this noise which is a very strong reason of getting undesired texts as a result from the output of Optical Character recognition (OCR) that needs to be removed afterward with a lot of extra afford. this paper presents a new perspective especially for the historical document image cleanup by detecting the page frame of the document. the goal of this method is to find actual contents area of the document and ignore noises along the page border. We use morphological transforms, the line segment detector, and geometric matching algorithm to find an ideal page frame of the document. After the implementation of page frame method, we also evaluate our approach over 16th-19th century printed historical documents. We have noticed in the result that OCR performance for the historical documents increased by 4.49% after applying our page frame detection method. In addition, we are able to increase the OCR accuracy around 6.69% for contemporary documents too.

the fuzzy min-max (FMM) neural network is one of the most powerful neural networks that combines neural network and fuzzy set theory into a common framework for tackling pattern classification problems. FMM neural network carries out learning processes that consist of hyperbox expansion, hyperbox overlap test and hyperbox contraction to execute pattern classification. Although these processes provide FMM with several outstanding features and make it a unique pattern classifier, the contraction process is considered a major limitation that affects the FMM learning process and hinders it from handling hyperbox overlapped boundaries appropriately. this drawback could affect membership decision making and cause the classifier to provide random decisions when test samples have the same fitness values with different hyperboxes from different classes (ambiguity issue). the performance of the classifier consequently declines. thus, this study aims to provide a conceptual solution called 'fuzzy min-max classifier based on new membership function' through a new method, 'Euclidean distance', in the test phase to handle the hyperbox overlapping boundaries of different classes. the conceptual solution has not been implemented and tested in a real scenario. Hence, the application of the conceptual solution to real scenarios is recommended in future studies to assess its performance. © 2018 IEEE.

this paper presents a new face descriptor, local directional intensity pattern (LDIP), for human facial expression recognition. Considering the edge information and pixel intensity changes of face images, local features extracted from not only frequency domain but also spatial domain are encoded in a compact way, which makes features complementary to each other and much more discriminative. Additionally, the histogram refinement further reduces the feature dimensions while enhancing the performance of the texture descriptor. Extensive experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of our proposed method. the experimental results demonstrate that the LDIP is a discriminative and efficient facial expression descriptor, which achieves higher recognition rate than other descriptors.

In view of the current low level of agricultural Internet of things application in the north of Anhui Province, this paper integrates cloud computing, big data, Zigbee, WeChat public number and other technologies to design and implement a monitoring system based on agricultural Internet of things. the sensing layer device collects the sensing data, and network layer processes and transmits it to cloud platform. Cloud platform makes real-time analysis and decision after processing of data, so as to realize real-time monitoring of agricultural production and automatic control of equipment.

Twitter user geolocation is applied into various applications, such as local messages recommendation and event location recognition. Existing methods do not usually utilize the potential positional correlation between heterogeneous information, resulting in low user geolocation accuracy. therefore, this paper proposes a user geolocation method based on heterogeneous network and label propagation. First, a heterogeneous network is built based on heterogeneous information mined from user tweets. then, by analyzing the factors that impact the efficiency and accuracy of label propagation, redundant nodes and edges in the initialized heterogeneous network are removed. Finally, the locations of unlabeled users are geolocated through label propagation in the simplified heterogeneous network. Experiments on the publicly available Twitter benchmark dataset show that proposed method accurately locate 57% of users within 161 km of their locations, a significant improvement over several existing methods.
