the pioneering contribution of this paper is to design and implement a Neural Network (NN) that demonstrates chaotic pattern recognition (PR) properties, and where the network in and of itself is a "small-world" or "scale-free" network. the foundational NN that we employ for this is the Adachi Neural Network (AdNN). the latter is a fascinating NN which has been shown to possess chaotic properties, and to also demonstrate Associative Memory (AM) and PR, while variants of the AdNN have also been used to obtain other PR phenomena, and even blurring. the problem with the Adachi NN is that it is a fully-connected network requiring quadratic computations for the training. Our aim in this paper is to reduce the computations needed for the training significantly. the motivation for this is the fact that most "physical" networks including biological NNs and Internet networks have the properties of complex small-world or scale-free networks. To place the paper in the right perspective, we mention that in [1] we managed to reduce the AdNN's computational cost significantly by merely using a linear number of computations by enforcing a Maximum Spanning Tree topology and a gradient search method. However, from the perspective of a network's structure, very few real-life networks have a tree-shaped linearly-connected topology. the question we consider in this paper is whether we can reduce the degree of connections of each node to mimic the small-world or scale-free phenomena, more akin to "real" NNs. Simultaneously, we shall also attempt to ensure that the newly-obtained network still possesses strong PR characteristics. To achieve this, we first construct a small-world network by means of the so-called N-W model. We then address the problem of computing the weights for the new NN. this is done in such a manner that the modified small-world connection-based NN has approximately the same input-output characteristics, and thus the new weights are themselves calculated using a grad

the automatic recognition of micro-expression has been boosted ever since the successful introduction of deep learning approaches. As researchers working on such topics are moving to learn from the nature of micro-expression, the practice of using deep learning techniques has evolved from processing the entire video clip of micro-expression to the recognition on apex frame. Using the apex frame is able to get rid of redundant video frames, but the relevant temporal evidence of micro-expression would be thereby left out. this paper proposes a novel Apex-Time Network (ATNet)to recognize micro-expression based on spatial information from the apex frame as well as on temporal information from the respective-adjacent frames. through extensive experiments on three benchmarks, we demonstrate the improvement achieved by learning such temporal information. Specially, the model with such temporal information is more robust in cross-dataset validations.

Learning from patterns and everyday creativity are two key trends in creative education. However, it is not easy to learn from or to create meaningful patterns. Fractals are repetitive patterns, which can result in interesting outcomes. patterns can be based on a recursive whole or recursive modifications of decomposable parts of the patterns. However, developing fractals or relating fractals to real-life applications or creative innovations is not that easy. Since pattern recognition, recursion and relation to real-life applications are part of computational thinking (CT), we find potential in assessing CT skills. We scope our research to fractal projects at the Scratch website. We aim to identify correlations between the respective scores for each project’s constructs corresponding to the respective total CT scores and to identify important human-computer interaction principles in scaffolding CT/fractal/fractal thinking development. Significance lies in identification of HCI design factors, possibility of using these findings as guides to better predict a student’s performance/mastery and to identify areas and strategies for improvement. the objective of the research study is to predict the popularity of printed as well as online news articles that are publicized on the online social network. Keywords are extracted from the collected data sets and compared with trained data sets. the popularity of any news contents are calculated through the proposed prediction model according to training data sets and lifetime of that news. 100 newly published news items have collected and analyzed them. We have found an accuracy of 70% which is more than prior studies. Our proposed system will make a significant way for the user to explore the news articles.

this paper provides an overview of my PhD project that focuses on recognizing emotions in dementia by analyzing multi-modal expressions in autobiographical memories of older adults with dementia. the project aims for a better understanding how dementia influences emotional expressions and how dementia differs from the normal aging process. For this reason, spontaneous emotions will be elicited in autobiographical memories in two groups of older adults, one with dementia the other without, for comparison. Audio, video and physiological data will be collected at their home resulting in real-life environments. the emotional expressions can then be analyzed by extracting verbal, non-verbal, facial and gestural features from the audio, video and physiological data collected. In addition, a longitudinal study will be conducted with the older adults with dementia to investigate the longitudinal effect of dementia on emotions. A database of the emotional memories of these vulnerable groups will then be developed to contribute to the advancement of technologies for (automatic) multi-modal emotion recognition. the database will then be made available for the research community. Lastly, we will also develop visualization and statistical models to assess multi-modal patterns of emotion expression in these groups.

In this paper, a compact planar patch antenna is proposed for multi-band wireless communication applications. the antenna is consists of an inverted F-shaped radiating element and a modified F-shaped ground and is imprinted on the both side of a low cost FR4 substrate material. To excite the resonant modes at multiple operating bands, two inverted L-shaped resonating elements are added respectively to the patch and ground plane and thus the antenna is able to achieve eight frequency bands of 835 - 872 MHz, 1.476 - 1.566 GHz, 2.185 - 2.280 GHz, 3.080 - 3.256 GHz, 3.618 - 3.680 GHz, 4.215 - 4.335 GHz, 4.582 - 4.692 GHz and 5.405 - 5.925 GHz bands.

In this paper, we proposed a high sensitivity and high resolution surface plasmon resonance biosensor based on WS 2 nanomaterial, methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI 3 )perovskite nanosheet and Au-Ag bimetallic film. the structure is based on Kretschmann configuration with six layers. Our proposed sensor can behave linearly upto 0.02 RIU change in sensing medium. the highest sensitivity was calculated as 195 (Deg/RIU) with full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 7.6 Deg. We also proposed another structure to get higher resolution of 6.3 Deg FWHM with a sensitivity of 187.5 (Deg/RIU). Both of our proposed designs are far superior in responsivity and sensitivity to pure Au based biosensors.

Web mining uses data mining's techniques and its algorithms to explore the interesting patterns from the web access log on server data to withdraw out better knowledge of user attractions or users activity over the website. this paper gives the idea that how an industry conclude or examine their user's behavior on their websites, which is one of the important topics in today's time using the time stamp of the IP address. this paper deals with the temporal approach of weblog mining on NASA's website based on temporal trend analysis by analyzing the extracted interesting patterns. A weblog of NASA has been analyzed using R-Studio to extract the trend pattern based on the time of stay of users, which creates a particular pattern. there are many methods for data mining extractions, but this technique of trend analysis can provide more useful information for web mining.

A pattern and polarization reconfigurable antenna (PPRA) for WLAN applications has been presented in this paper. the proposed antenna has a square ring patch fed by T-shaped microstrip line through gap coupling on upper layer. A defective ground surface has been deployed at the ground for increasing the gain of the antenna. Two diodes PD1 and PD2 have been incorporated in the upper diagonal gap of square ring to achieve polarization reconfigurability and two more switches PD3 and PD4 have been inserted in ground plane to achieve pattern diversity. Depending on diode (ON/OFF) conditions the PPRA can switch to different polarization states viz. horizontal, vertical, S(-45) and Z(45) linear polarization. Also it is able to switch its pattern by 180 degrees in E-plane. Extensive simulations have been performed in CADFEKO for antenna design and optimization. HPND-4005 PIN diodes equivalent circuit for ON and OFF state has been used for simulation purpose. the proposed antenna is able to cover the entire (2.412-2.484) GHz band for IEEE 802.11b/g/n standard.

Purpose Morphological changes to anatomy resulting from invasive surgical procedures or pathology, typically alter the surrounding vasculature. this makes it useful as a descriptor for feature-driven image registration in various clinical applications. However, registration of vasculature remains challenging, as vessels often differ in size and shape, and may even miss branches, due to surgical interventions or pathological changes. Furthermore, existing vessel registration methods are typically designed for a specific application. To address this limitation, we propose a generic vessel registration approach useful for a variety of clinical applications, involving different anatomical regions. Methods A probabilistic registration framework based on a hybrid mixture model, with a refinement mechanism to identify missing branches (denoted as HdMM+) during vasculature matching, is introduced. Vascular structures are represented as 6-dimensional hybrid point sets comprising spatial positions and centerline orientations, using Student's t-distributions to model the former and Watson distributions for the latter. Results the proposed framework is evaluated for intraoperative brain shift compensation, and monitoring changes in pulmonary vasculature resulting from chronic lung disease. Registration accuracy is validated using both synthetic and patient data. Our results demonstrate, HdMM+ is able to reduce more than 85% of the initial error for both applications, and outperforms the state-of-the-art point-based registration methods such as coherent point drift and Student's t-distribution mixture model, in terms of mean surface distance, modified Hausdorff distance, Dice and Jaccard scores. Conclusion the proposed registration framework models complex vascular structures using a hybrid representation of vessel centerlines, and accommodates intricate variations in vascular morphology.
