Accurate classification of ventricular arrhythmias is crucial for effective diagnosis and treatment. this study addresses the challenge of detecting these arrhythmias by employing a novel approach combining sparse noise reduction and multi-source feature fusion. Utilizing the MIT-BIH-AR database, we applied a multi-classification algorithm and evaluated its performance through five-fold cross-validation, achieving an average accuracy of 0.9937. the model was further tested on the INCART and wearable dynamic databases, demonstrating robust performance with accuracies of 0.9840 and 0.9899, respectively. the proposed method effectively mitigates the impact of electrode motion artifacts, enhancing classification accuracy and F1 scores across different conditions. Despite its effectiveness, the method shows limited improvement in detecting left and right bundle branch blocks, suggesting a need for preprocessing to address poor-quality segments and refining sparse denoising techniques. Overall, this study validates the potential of integrating sparse denoising and multi-source feature fusion for advanced arrhythmia classification, offering significant improvements in noise resistance and cross-database generalizability. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). Posture and balance control are the foundation of every person's physical independence, movement, and execution of any action. Yet stroke patients have impaired related functions leading to inconvenience in daily life. Many studies of the acute effects of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) on posture had shown that short bursts of TENS could increase the ability of stroke patients to have postural control, with positive effects on balance, so it was important to explore the acute effects of TENS on the postural control of patients. In addition, the Phase synchronization index (PSI) represents synchronized activity between brain regions and can characterize a patient's level of motor function. therefore, studying the PSI is important for understanding neuronal communication and neuroplasticity after stroke. In this paper, we recruited twelve stroke patients as well as fifteen healthy older adults. We set up a controlled experiment: changes in the center of pressure (COP) during quiet standing task and PSI during ankle dorsiflexion of patients before and after TENS, and healthy human indicators were used as a reference for normal values. We stimulated the patient's tibialis anterior and gastrocnemius muscles on the affected side. the results showed that postural control ability was significantly improved after TENS, and PSI of globe-hemisphere, affected hemisphere was significantly greater in patients and was superior to those of healthy individuals, with the greatest percentage increase on the affected side. these results suggested that immediate TENS promoted postural control ability, and brain synchronization and had the most pronounced effect on the affected side. Accidents caused by explosives occur frequently, which seriously threaten people's lives and health, so it is urgent to develop new technologies for sensitively and rapidly detecting trace explosives. In this study, a bioengineered rat with the olfactory receptor (OR3) overexpression in the olfactory epithelium (OE) was successfully developed, and the unique features of three representative explosives (NT, DNT, and TNT) were conducted by recording electrophysiological-responsive signals from the olfactory bulb (OB) with implanted multichannel microelectrodes during awake-state-independent sniffing behavior induced by explosives and non-explosives. these three explosives were regarded as goal odors, while citral and air were no-goal odors. the analysis of local field potential (LFP) power changes revealed that, goal, and no-goals could be distinguished in both the vector group and the OR3 group at concentrations as low as 10-12 mol/L, and the classification performance of the OR3 group was superior to that of the vector group overall. Our findings suggest that OR3 bioengineered rats can reliably and accurately identify trace explosives, which provides a novel approach for detecting and identifying explosives with promising applications in odor discrimination in complex environments. the application of graph theory in the modeling and analysis of brain networks has generated both new op portunities as well as new challenges in neuroscience. Resting state functional connectivity (RSFC) networks studied with graphs is an important field of investigation because of the potential benefits in understanding function in healthy individuals and identifying evidence of brain diseases and injury in patients. this work is unique because it applies information retrieval techniques to create ranked lists from RSFC graph theory derived networks. In our analysis, we used a sample of whole-brain resting-state functional magnetic reso nance imaging (rs-fMRI) data obtained from Young (n = 10, age: 20.1±2.1) and Old (n = 10, 65.6±0.4) sex-balanced groups drawn from a healthy, i.e., neurotypical, cohort. We estimated two well-known distance metrics (graph edit distance and graph spectral distance) and by using information-retrieval graph ranking methods achieved precision measures at the top-5 positions of ranked lists of up to 80%. © 2025 by SCITEPRESS– Science and Technology Publications, Lda.
