the most distinctive trait in structural patternrecognition in graph domain is the ability to deal withthe organization and relations between the constituent entities of the pattern. Even if this can be convenient and/or necessary in many contexts, most of the state-of the art classification techniques can not be deployed directly in the graph domain without first embedding graph patterns towards a metric space. Granular computing is a powerful information processing paradigm that can be employed in order to drive the synthesis of automatic embedding spaces from structured domains. In this paper we investigate several classification techniques starting from Granular computing-based embedding procedures and provide a thorough overview in terms of model complexity, embedding space complexity and performances on several open-access datasets for graph classification. We witness that certain classification techniques perform poorly both from the point of view of complexity and learning performances as the case of non-linear SVM, suggesting that high dimensionality of the synthesized embedding space can negatively affect the effectiveness of these approaches. On the other hand, linear support vector machines, neuro-fuzzy networks and nearest neighbour classifiers have comparable performances in terms of accuracy, with second being the most competitive in terms of structural complexity and the latter being the most competitive in terms of embedding space dimensionality.

the discriminative training of classifiers for handwritten Chinese character recognition (HCCR) is highly demanding in computation due to the large number of categories. the inability of discriminative training with large sample set on personal computers has hindered the accuracy promotion for HCCR. To overcome this problem, we have implemented the training algorithm of discriminative learning quadratic discriminant function (DLQDF) on our graphics processing units (GPU) server, and have achieved 15 times speedup compared to single-core computation. By enlarging training sample set via distortion on a standard dataset of 3,755 classes, we could train the DLQDF on more than 50 million samples within 150min and get the test accuracy improved by 1.36%.

We report on the third international Competition on Handwritten Mathematical Expression recognition (CROHME), in which eight teams from academia and industry took part. For the third CROHME, the training dataset was expanded to over 8000 expressions, and new tools were developed for evaluating performance at the level of strokes as well as expressions and symbols. As an informal measure of progress, the performance of the participating systems on the CROHME 2012 data set is also reported. Data and tools used for the competition will be made publicly available.

One challenge in Microservices Architectures is coordinating business workflows between services, for which the Saga pattern is frequently mentioned as a solution in the literature. this work presents a criteria catalog based on which existing technological solutions that help with Saga implementations can be qualitatively evaluated to enable an informed decision between them. It considers criteria relevant for the Saga pattern, microservices characteristics, and for operating a system in production. We use it to evaluate four technological solutions by implementing an exemplary use case. Due to their different origins, the technologies come with varying strengths and weaknesses and as a result no solution is superior. the results can help developers decide which technology to use and provide insights into what to consider when implementing the Saga pattern.

Vehicle license plate detection and recognition it's a multi stage process, image pre- processing, license plate location, character location and recognition. We analyzed the multiple methodology used during this process, their features and results and implemented an algorithm that executes it. We applied a hybrid algorithm for plate location, a mathematical one for segmentation and a convolutional neural network for recognition, obtaining 98% in segmentation and recognition.
