Describing and matching feature points is one of the most basic tasks in many computer vision tasks. For example, in tasks such as structure from motion, simultaneous localization and mapping, and image stitching, the quality of feature point matching directly determines the accuracy of the vision task, which in turn affects the availability of specific applications such as VR, MR, autonomous driving, and robot navigation. the current mainstream feature point method has the problem that the number of mismatches is relatively large, which will cause a lot of interference to computer vision tasks based on feature point matching. Traditional feature point descriptors only use the feature point and very little information in its neighborhood, so mismatches are prone to occur. the main contribution of this paper is to propose a feature point descriptor and a corresponding matching method. the core idea is to use multiple dimensions of information to describe a feature point, and then integrate the differences in each dimension to evaluate the similarity between the two feature points, and then improve the matching rate of feature points. the experimental results show that the feature description and matching algorithm proposed in this paper is superior to the popular ORB algorithm in terms of matching rate. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, CEEMDAN is introduced to perform modal decomposition of indicator data to capture the characteristics of the data at different time scales. Each feature is constructed as a stacked LSTM sub-prediction model. Since different features represent different dimensions, the cumulative sum of the results of each sub-model as the final prediction result will lead to the problem of error superposition. In this paper, a linear regression model is introduced to self-learn the corresponding weights of each sub-model, and the weighted sum method is used to fuse the results of each sub-model to alleviate the error superposition problem. the dissolved oxygen, ammonia nitrogen, PH and permanganate indicators are taken as examples to verify the prediction model proposed in this paper. the experimental results show that in the models constructed by CEEMDAN and EMD decomposition algorithms, the prediction accuracy of each index is improved by 11.88%, 4.38%, 1.33%, 3.38 and 19.29%, 3.65%, 0.61 %, 2.65% respectively after introducing the linear regression model. It shows that the combined model constructed in this paper has strong generalization ability and robustness. © 2023 IEEE.

Non-destructive testing technology plays a pivotal role in the manufacturing process of modern industrial products, and is of incredible importance for moving forward the item quality of workpieces. Currently, the commonly used non-destructive testing technology has disadvantages such as complicated operation, high testing cost, and limited scope of application. this paper suggests an upgraded multi-scale target detection algorithm based on YOLOv5s in light of the aforementioned issues. Firstly, an improved channel attention mechanism module ECA-Net is added into the backbone network. Second, the maximum pooling operation in the SPP module is replaced with atrous convolution in this paper. Finally, the channel weight information is added to the concat operation of the PAN structure, which improves the sensitivity of the network to the channel information of the feature map. this paper uses the NEU-DET steel surface defect data set to do a series of experiments to verify the detection effect of the model. According to the experimental results, the mAP of the algorithm proposed in this paper is 73.47%, which is 7.18% higher than that of YOLOv5s, and the FPS is 68.5 frames/s, which satisfies the needs of industrial production environments. © 2023 IEEE.

Writing is an important aspect of literacy and an important learning foundation in addition to reading for children. the main challenge is to handle the unique characteristics and writing styles that are not yet fully formed in children's handwriting. therefore, technology is needed that can help children learn to write, especially alphabetic characters. this research aims to build a model based on machine learning for recognizing the alphabetic handwriting of pre-toddler children. this research uses the support vector machine (SVM) method and the directional element feature (DEF) feature extraction in grayscale images to effectively classify children's alphabet handwriting. In this study, four kernels in the SVM model were tested. the best results of classification using the linear kernel obtained an average accuracy of 86.33% with a cost optimization parameter of 0. In the use of the RBF kernel, the best average accuracy is 84%, with a cost optimization parameter of 50. With the polynomial kernel, the best average accuracy is 68%, with the cost optimization parameter being 10. In the sigmoid kernel, the best average accuracy is 85.67% with a cost optimization parameter of 50. As a conclusion, the SVM model has proven effective for optimizing handwriting recognition, especially in children's handwriting recognition. © 2023 IEEE.

the three-dimensional structure of a scene consisting of at least five points whose images are identified in two perspective views obtained by a translating camera, can be reconstructed up to a 3D affine transformation. Hence, a more detailed reconstruction is possible using less information when compared to the results for arbitrary stereo pairs taken with uncalibrated, perspective cameras.

the diagnosis of colorectal cancer is usually supported by a staging system, such as the Duke or TNM system. In this work we discuss computer-aided pit-pattern classification of surface structures observed during high-magnification colonoscopy in order to support dignity assessment of colonic polyps. this is considered a quite promising approach because it allows in vivo staging of colorectal lesions. Since recent, research work has shown that the characteristic surface structures of the colon mucosa exhibit texture characteristics, we employ a set of texture image features in the wavelet-domain and propose a novel classifier combination approach which is similar to a combination of experts. the experimental results of our work show superior classification performance compared to previous approaches on both a two-class (non-neoplastic vs. neoplastic) and a more complicated six-class (pit-pattern) classification problem.

the paper is devoted to studying the issues of pre-training of deep neural network models. A generalized approach for pre-training deep models is proposed, which allows achieving better performance in final accuracy and can be used when training on small datasets. the effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated on examples of training deep neural classifiers models using the MNIST and CIFAR-10 datasets. the obtained results can be used to train fully connected and convolutional types of layers. © 2023 IEEE.

this research investigates the effect of the distance between users within the virtual space on collaboration quality in social smart glasses based virtual environments. We developed a Vuzix smart glasses application to enable users to work together on assembling furniture models. Afterwards, we conducted a user study to assess the impact of distance between users on collaboration quality, and the results showed that distance significantly affects collaboration quality. Our prototype could be used as a remote aftersale service, and our findings could aid in designing low-cost Smart Glasses social solutions for productive teamwork. © 2023 IEEE.
