Given a set R of robots, each one located at a different vertex of an infinite regular tessellation graph, we aim to explore the Arbitrary Pattern Formation (APF) problem. Given a multiset F of grid vertices such that vertical bar R vertical bar = vertical bar F vertical bar, APF asks for a distributed algorithm that moves robots so as to reach a configuration similar to F. Similarity means that robots must be disposed as F regardless of translations, rotations, reflections. So far, as possible discretization of the Euclidean plane only the standard square grid has been considered in the context of the classical Look-Compute-Move model. However, it is natural to consider the other regular tessellation graphs, that are triangular and hexagonal grids. For any regular tessellation graph, we provide a resolution algorithm for APF when the initial configuration is asymmetric.

In recent years, P2P networks have been evolving at a rapid pace. Authentication of nodes in P2P networks, however remains a difficult task to conduct efficiently In this paper we therefore propose a new authentication method called Hash-based distributed Authentication Method (HDAM). HDAM realizes a decentralized efficient mutual authentication mechanism for each pair of nodes in the P2P network. It performs a distributed management of public keys by using Web of Trust anddistributed Hash Table. Our proposal significantly reduces both the memory size requirement and the overhead of communication data sent by the nodes.

Network management systems (NMS) need to support a wide range of application requirements while ensuring an efficient use of networking resources. Application control of Software Defined networking (SDN) promises to drastically reduce OPEX and increase flexibility of NMS by automatically translating application requirements into network policies and subsequently into network behavior. The current research in this area focuses mainly on top-down approaches aiming at expressiveness, generality, and control plane resource efficiency. However, the expressive power and flexibility of OpenFlow, a widely used SDN implementation, comes at the cost of high complexity when high-level policies are automatically translated into OpenFlow rules, which can lead to an inefficient use of data plane resources. To counter this problem, this paper proposes a bottom-up approach to application-controlled SDN which aims to leverage scenario-and application-specific information for optimization. Thereby, the proposed approach is able to satisfy diverse application requirements and use the available data plane resources more efficiently than comparable approaches.

Service-orientation is not only a means for systems integration, but also an architecture paradigm for building systems. Flexibility, adaptability and interoperability are some of the benefits derived from the adoption of SOA. These principles are often applied to build distributed systems. But whether SOA is applied or not, building a distributed system is still complex, what increases the demand on high-quality middleware to achieve success. This paper presents a runtime service integration architecture that enables distributed service interactions regardless the capabilities of the devices involved, i.e. to deal with services distribution over a heterogeneous network. The solution presented is built upon the OSGi service platform which has been leveraged with OSS middleware components to provide remote communications (with connectors and adaptors), service discovery, service binding and service publication. The development of this architecture is carried out within the ITEA OSIRIS Consortium and is being applied to industrial case studies;including a tax administration applications, service provisioning to residential environments and a mobile CRM.
The emergence of data-intensive applications in medical and other fields of study has created the need for increased storage space. It is often the case that these data should not or cannot be placed in the same domai...

Cloud computing paradigm has reached a high degree of popularity among all kinds of computer users, but it may not be suitable for mobile devices as they need computing power to be as close as possible to data sources in order to reduce delays. This paper focuses on achieving mathematical models for users moving around and proposes an overlay mobility model for Fog Data Centres based on traditional wireless mobility models aimed at better allocating edge computing resources to client demands. Additionally, the focus is also on providing a model as to how the computing assets related to each user follow it through the fog infrastructure so as to minimise the distance to the user according to a Fat-Tree based Data Centre topology.

This paper examines the discovery of associations defined by fuzzy temporal predicates in time-tagged information from multiple distributed data sources. The use of fuzzy predicates provides the ability to represent and analyze imprecise temporal relationships, including temporal ordering and duration. In particular we are concerned with the adaptability of common data mining strategies to relations defined by fuzzy temporal predicates.
