Advances in networking andcomputing are moving society towards a cyber space, in which more aspects of our daily lives are being conducted over the Internet. This movement generates concerns regarding trust between the parties involved in these aspects. Nevertheless, trust is a broad topic and thus it is challenging to define a unified mechanism for evaluating trust in communication networks. This article focuses on presenting a general model of trust in communication networks that is flexible enough to be implemented by a wide range of use cases. The model is based on the concept of trust functions, a type of relationship used to evaluate trust. Trust functions are evaluated between two subjects, based on the action that is about to take place and the objects being affected by that action. We use this model to describe a use case of Trust Enhanced networking and present a discussion regarding trust in communication networks and future challenges.

We present an approach to data mining on arbitrary graph data that uses a cloud-based distributedcomputing model for dynamic provisioning of computing resources as the graph model grows or shrinks. Further, we introduce the concept of logging graph changes as a basis for calculating properties of dynamic graphs. We briefly describe queries that leverage the dynamic graph model, for instance, by using a snapshot of the original graph while an algorithm executes or adapting query results as the graph changes. To demonstrate the feasibility of our approach, we conducted an initial evaluation, which shows that our parallel computing model can dramatically improve load times. Raw data imported into our system is processed faster on larger compute clusters.

This work proposes a novel respiration monitoring system using Doppler signal from a low-cost motion sensor and received signal strength (RSS) measurements from a wireless network. We present the ambiguity problem of the Doppler monitoring system. We find that RSS from a wireless network is complimentary to Doppler signal, and we propose to integrate Doppler with RSS to make respiration monitoring more robust. Our experimental results show that the respiration rate estimation is more accurate by sensor fusion of these two radio frequency (RF) sensing modalities.

This paper proposes a novel design and implementation of distributed RBAC (dRBAC) and Single Sign-On (SSO) system that spans over multiple administrative domains with high availability. The core idea is based on Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) technique owing to its modularity, autonomy, distributedness, flexibility, and scalability. All agents serve their specific purposes. Leveraging agents simplifies high availability. PKI is used for trust enablement between intra- and inter-domain agent communications. The Security Assertion Mark-up Language (SAML) is adopted for supporting the exchange of authentication and authorization information in the architecture. The approach supports strong two-factor authentication with X.509 digital certificate. The authorization scheme is based on the Privilege Management Infrastructure (PMI). Finally, we reported our extended implementation status and demonstrated that our proposed model is efficient and flexible to implement in the multiple SSO and PKI domains.

In this work, we study dynamic offloading of soft real-time tasks in SDN based fog computing system. Many middleware platforms use computational reflection to support adaptive functionality. Most approaches intertwine the activity of observing behavior (introspection) with the activity of changing behavior (intercession). This paper explores the use of language constructs to separate these parts of reflective functionality. This separation and "packaging" of reflective primitives is in tended to facilitate the design of correct and consistent adaptive middleware. A prototype language, called Adaptive Java, is described in which this functionality is realized through extensions to the Java programming language. A case study is described in which "metamorphic" socket components are created from regular socket classes and used to realize adaptive behavior on wireless network connections.

In the future, micro processors will be embedded in various appliances such as home appliances, digital AV appliances, and personal appliances. These appliances will be connected to various types of networks, such as Internet, and communicate with each other The communication of appliances would integrate some services provided by, these appliances and make new services. The future home computing environment requires home computing middleware on which we can control home appliances easily, and develop new services without a great effort. Most of recent middleware for home computing such as Jini and HAVi has no compatibility, and adaptability, with each other. Therefore it is not easy, for these appliances to communicate with other appliances which are controlled by, any other middleware. Although there are some protocol bridges such as bridge between HAW and Jini by, Philips, Sony and Sun, these are almost only bridges of one and one. We need a framework with which we can integrate any middleware in a simpler way. In this paper we propose a framework for connecting home computing middleware. It enables any appliance tinder any middleware's control to communicate any other appliances. We show also a service integration framework with Internet service and home computing middleware.
