In this paper, a collaboration support system for 3D shape evaluation by using network virtual reality is proposed on the basis of both studies in 31) shape evaluation and communication support in virtual space. Collaboration mainly consists of two tasks;one is each partner's task that is performed by the individual, the other is communication with each other. Both of them are very important objectives for all the collaboration support system. the proposed system provides the two viewpoints for each task. One is the viewpoint of back side of user's own avatar for the smooth communication. the other is that of avatar's eye for 3D shape evaluation. Switching the viewpoints satisfies the task conditions for 3D shape evaluation and communication. the system basically consists of PC, HMD and sensors, and users can share the embodied interaction by observing interaction between their avatars in virtual space. However, the HMD and magnetic sensors, which are put on the users, would restrict the nonverbal communication. then, we have tried to compensate the loss of nodding of partner's avatar by introducing the speech-driven embodied interactive actor InterActor. Sensory evaluation by paired comparison of 31) shapes in the collaborative situation in virtual space and in real space and the questionnaire are performed. the result demonstrates the effectiveness of InterActor's nodding in the collaborative situation.

An increasingly large number of users connect to virtual worlds on a regular basis to conduct activities ranging from gaming to business meetings. In all these worlds, users project themselves into the environment via an avatar: A 3D body which they control and whose appearance is often customizable. However, considering the prevalence of this form of embodiment, there is a surprising lack of data about how and why users customize their avatar, as well as how easy and satisfying the existing avatar creation tools are. In this paper, we report on a study investigating these issues through a questionnaire administered to more than a hundred users of three virtual worlds offering widely different avatar creation and customization systems (Maple Story, World of Warcraft, and Second Life). We illustrate the often-surprising choices users make when creating their digital representation and discuss the impact of our findings for the design of future avatar creation systems. this paper documents the applicability of electrical and electronics graphics to introductory general engineering graphics curricula. It includes an overview of the architectural, mechanical and electrical/electronic graphics language. the electrical/electronic field is the largest branch of engineering and continues to grow. this dynamically changing field interfaces with architectural, civil, mechanical, industrial, computer and the many other disciplines of engineering. A common, seamless and interrelated graphics language is used to prepare drawings and diagrams by engineering design groups. Electrical/electronic graphics is frequently overlooked in introductory engineering graphics courses and texts. Electrical and electronic graphics is part of the universal engineering graphic language used to prepare, read and interpret plans, and should be included in engineering and related curricula. this paper describes how electrical/electronic graphics can be incorporated to effectively introduce students to design, creative thinking, visualization and the understanding of the widely used graphics language.
