Reconstructing 3d object from a single image (RGB or depth) is a fundamental problem in visual scene understanding and yet remains challenging due to its ill-posed nature and complexity in real-world scenes. To address those challenges, we adopt a primitivebased representation for 3d object, and propose a two-stage graph network for primitive-based 3d object estimation, which consists of a sequential proposal module and a graph reasoning module. Given a 2d image, our proposal module first generates a sequence of 3d primitives from input image with local feature attention. then the graph reasoning module performs joint reasoning on a primitive graph to capture the global shape context for each primitive. Such a framework is capable of taking into account rich geometry and semantic constraints during 3d structure recovery, producing 3d objects with more coherent structure even under challenging viewing conditions. We train the entire graph neural network in a stage-wise strategy and evaluate it on three benchmarks: Pix3d, ModelNet and NYU depth V2. Extensive experiments show that our approach outperforms the previous state of the arts with a considerable margin.

While recent researches on computational 3d scene synthesis have achieved impressive results, automatically synthesized scenes do not guarantee satisfaction of end users. On the other hand, manual scene modelling can always ensure high quality, but requires a cumbersome trial-and-error process. In this paper, we bridge the above gap by presenting a data-driven 3d scene synthesis framework that can intelligently infer objects to the scene by incorporating and simulating user preferences with minimum input. While the cursor is moved and clicked in the scene, our framework automatically selects and transforms suitable objects into scenes in real time. this is based on priors learnt from the dataset for placing different types of objects, and updated according to the current scene context. through extensive experiments we demonstrate that our framework outperforms the state-of-the-art on result aesthetics, and enables effective and efficient user interactions.1

Combinations of immersive media and graphic portrayals can enable the human subjective sense of Presence. this paper collects our experiences and evaluations from six projects that use Extensible 3d (X3d) interactive graphics to deliver spatial experiences across the WWW. X3d enables the combination of spherical panoramas with 3d models and maps to visually transport users to a specific real location at a specific time. Remote users have access to these worlds through a web-browser or other immersive device;local users in a CAVE can collaborate with natural physical gestures;. We reflect on the graphical and interactive requirements of these projects and provide guidance for future applications. In the face of physical lock-downs and distancing due to the CoVId pandemic, such platforms illustrate the opportunities and challenges in the design and delivery of spatial visualizations, especially for remote learning.

New standards such as webXR enable cross-platform VR experiences, relying on the ubiquity of the modern web browser. However, upon measuring performance of webXR scenes, we found users can suffer from high latency while waiting for all 3d objects appear in their field-of-view. this is because storage and fetching of 3d objects in webXR (and its underlying webGL libraries) are agnostic to the user's orientation and location, leading to latency issues. Specifically, fetching of texture files in arbitrary order results in 3d objects waiting on their texture dependencies, and the storage of all objects' geometry data in one large file blocks individual objects from rendering even if their texture dependencies are satisfied. To address these issues, we propose a systematic prioritization of which 3d objects and their dependencies should be fetched first, based on the user's position and orientation in the VR scene. To improve efficiency, the geometry data belonging to each 3d object are optimally grouped together to minimize the average latency. Our experiments with various webXR scenes under different network conditions show that our scheme can significantly reduce the time to all 3d objects appearing in the user's field-of-view, by up to 50%, compared the default webXR behavior.

deviations from the original blueprints could often be found on building sites. To easily identify such constructional modifications, this paper proposes a smart digital twin for construction site monitoring that supports web-based collaboration with external experts to discuss possibly required solutions to this problem. therefore, a system pipeline was designed that allows automatic detection and visualization of deviations between real and planning data. In addition, the pipeline allows generating an interactive difference visualization that uses the original planning data as well as the 3d scanned real data. the latter is recorded using an AR-capable mobile device or headset like the Microsoft HoloLens, whereas the mentioned differences are obtained via a point-cloud-based algorithm. the differences between real and planning data are then emphasized on the respective client, which uses X3-dOM for visualization. Besides the server part of the pipeline, the application consists of several clients that enable a collaborative discussion between the various stakeholders, such as an AR-based mobile viewer for the craftsman on site and a web-based viewer for the building owner at home or the architect.

Modeling of sound propagation is very important for virtual acoustics and virtual reality applications. For that reason, highly advanced computer models for the prediction of sound fields in rooms have already been proposed. However, most of them are complex and require a skilled acoustician to use them effectively. In other words, there is a need for simpler models that are accurate and quick to use, but most importantly should provide a simpler syntax with a hierarchical structure that makes it easy to map user actions to audio parameters. this paper aims to integrating acoustic properties associated with geometric shapes together with 3d spatial sound in the X3d Graphics standard, by exploiting the structure and functionality of web Audio API, using the audio graph model in order to simplify the development of audio applications. Examples for evaluation lead to useful conclusions and areas for future model development.

Point clouds have been widely applied to represent 3d data, with a variety of applications such as autonomous driving, augmented reality, and robotics. Since collecting a large amount of labeled 3d point cloud data for training deep learning models might not always be applicable, we propose the novel learning strategy of 3d-SelfCutMix, which advances mixed-sample data augmentation techniques while exploiting the spatial and semantic consistencies between point cloud data. depending on the availability of label supervision, the proposed network can be realized in either self-supervised or fully-supervised manners, while both versions are shown to benefit downstream tasks. In our experiments, we consider a variety of tasks including classification and part-segmentation tasks, which sufficiently support the use of the proposed method for 3d point cloud analysis. © 2022 IEEE.

the internal conditions and surface defects of key equipment in nuclear power plant (NPP) are mainly detected though non-destructive testing (NdT) technology, which is the key basis for maintenance and diagnosis of nuclear power main equipment. At present, there are many types and huge quantities of NdT data. due to the lack of unified information management means, it depends more on personal skills and experience. On the other hand, discrete data files and 2d detection data can't provide the staff with intuitive and stereoscopic visual effects, which affects the prediction and analysis of the staff to a certain extent. In view of the above problems, this paper deeply analyzes the characteristics of nuclear power NdT data, and proposes a 3d visualization method for ultrasonic defects of NPP reactor pressure vessel (RPV) based on digital twin. It also forms a 3d visualization digital twin system, which overlays and maps the 3d digital model of RPV with the reconstructed 3d defects, while providing the necessary 3d interaction. through the research results of this paper, the digital and intelligent management methods of NdT data in NPP have been improved, and an outstanding 3d basis for prediction and analysis of NdT defects in NPP has been provided. Point clouds, characterized by irregularity and disorder, are widely utilized in the domain of the Internet of things, including applications such as terrain exploration and autonomous driving. 3d action recognition and semantic segmentation widely employ them. However, point cloud videos often exhibit massive data volume and contain substantial data redundancy. this situation is highly detrimental to the real-time applications of point clouds such as autonomous driving and virtual reality. Network pruning is imperative to mitigate the redundancy. this paper proposes a spatial and temporal dual-scale adaptive pruning (STdAP) method for point cloud videos based on the attention mechanism to reduce redundancy. this method operates in both temporal and spatial dimensions, enabling adaptive pruning of point cloud videos and cutting down the inference time and memory usage. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art techniques regarding accuracy and inference time. It achieves notable acceleration while maintaining efficacy. © 2023 IEEE.

Cultural heritage assets are valuable, providing important information about humanity's past and conveying it to the future. Unfortunately, conventional documentation is insufficient to preservethem for the next generations. Furthermore, increasing visitor interaction with these assets and raising awareness has been one of the challenges in this field. In this paper, we will examine how mobile LidAR (Laser detection and Ranging) technology can be used to precisely scan and document historical sites and how it can be combined with gamification elements to provide visitors with better experiences. It is also important that the texture taken in mobile laser scanning can be used to better visualize 3d mesh models of the scanned objects, sothe fastest application that produces 3d models is selected. the study area is Syedra Ancient City in Alanya/Turkey, where the research and excavation process has continued since 2015 and the restoration projects started in 2023. Future work includes the creation of experiences to provide a basis for gamification and revitalizing the story of the heritage for the visitors through digital storytelling and AR(Augmented Reality). Preserving historical sites while providing visitors with a more in-depth, vivid and enjoyable experience are important facts for enhancing cultural heritage and passing it on to future generations. © 2024 and published by the Association for Computer-Aided Architectural design Research in Asia (CAAdRIA), Hong Kong.
