Recently, many view-based 3d model retrieval methods have been proposed and have achieved state-of-the-art performance. Most of these methods focus on extracting more discriminative view-level features and effectively aggregating the multi-view images of a 3d model, but the latent relationship among these multi-view images is not fully explored. thus, we tackle this problem from the perspective of exploiting the relationships between patch features to capture long-range associations among multi-view images. To capture associations among views, in this work, we propose a novel patch convolutional neural network (PCNN) for view-based 3d model retrieval. Specifically, we first employ a CNN to extract patch features of each view image separately. Secondly, a novel neural network module named PatchConv is designed to exploit intrinsic relationships between neighboring patches in the feature space to capture long-range associations among multi-view images. then, an adaptive weighted view layer is further embedded into PCNN to automatically assign a weight to each view according to the similarity between each view feature and the view-pooling feature. Finally, a discrimination loss function is employed to extract the discriminative 3d model feature, which consists of softmax loss values generated by the fusion classifier and the specific classifier. Extensive experimental results on two public 3d model retrieval benchmarks, namely, the ModelNet40, and ModelNet10, demonstrate that our proposed PCNN can outperform state-of-the-art approaches, with mAP values of 93.67%, and 96.23%, respectively.

As one of the GEN-IV nuclear reactor systems proposed by GEN-IV international Forum, the sodium-cooled fast reactor features the energy generation with fast spectrum and a closed fuel cycle for fuel breeding and actinide management. In order to validate system codes for reactor system analyses and to improve code performance, benchmark activities of experimental transients of fast reactors were performed by worldwide institutions. the Shut-down Heat Removal Tests in Experimental Breeder Reactor II were proposed in the context of the international Atomic Energy Agency. In this work, loss-of-flow tests performed in Experimental Breeder Reactor II are analyzed using system thermal-hydraulic code CAthARE. Evolutions of important reactor parameters such as core power, coolant flow rate, temperatures in core and in the intermediate heat exchanger are predicted and compared against experimental data. the sodium pool is further modeled by using a 3d model in CAthARE-3 and its verification is also conducted in the benchmark. Qualitative agreement is obtained for the reactor parameters predicted by CAthARE. the inherent passive safety characteristics of Experimental Breeder Reactor II in unprotected loss-of-flow transient is demonstrated, and the stratification effects in sodium pool are able to be identified with the 3d model. the results obtained in this work are expectable to provide some valuable insights for future sodium-cooled fast reactor transient accident analyses by coupling system thermal-hydraulic codes and CFd tools. the Extensible 3d (X3d) Graphics Architecture ISO/IEC 19775-1 international Standard version 4.0 is a major release that includes extensive support for version 2.0 of glTF (glTF2), a standard file format for 3d scenes, and models supporting geometry, appearance, a scene-graph hierarchical structure and model animation. X3d version 4 (X3d4) authors have the option to Inline (i.e. load) glTF models directly or else utilize native X3d nodes to create corresponding 3d models. Physically-based rendering (PBR) and non-photorealistic rendering (NPR), with corresponding lighting techniques, are each important additions to the X3d4 rendering model. these lighting models are compatible and can coexist in real-time with legacy X3d3 and VRML97 models (which utilize classic Phong shading and texturing) either independently or composed together into a single scene. the X3d4 approach to representing glTF2 characteristics is defined in complete detail in order to be functionally identical, thus having the potential to achieve the greatest possible interoperability of 3d models across the World Wide web. Nevertheless, a persistent problem remains in that glTF renderers do not always appear to produce visually identical results. Best practices for mapping glTF structures to X3d4 nodes are emerging to facilitate consistent conversion. this paper describes a variety of techniques to help confirm rendering consistency of X3d4 players, both when loading glTF assets and when representing native X3d4 conversions. development of an X3d4 conformance archive corresponding to the publicly available glTF examples archive is expected to reinforce the development of visually correct software renderers capable of identical X3d4 and glTF presentation.

Knowledge graph embedding aims to represent entities and relations as low-dimensional vectors, which is an effective way for predicting missing links. It is crucial for knowledge graph embedding models to model and infer various relation patterns, such as symmetry/antisymmetry. However, many existing approaches fail to model semantic hierarchies, which are common in the real world. We propose a new model called HRQE, which represents entities as pure quaternions. the relational embedding consists of two parts: (a) Using unit quaternions to represent the rotation part in 3d space, where the head entities are rotated by the corresponding relations through Hamilton product. (b) Using scale parameters to constrain the modulus of entities to make them have hierarchical distributions. To the best of our knowledge, HRQE is the first model that can encode symmetry/antisymmetry, inversion, composition, multiple relation patterns and learn semantic hierarchies simultaneously. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of HRQE against some of the SOTA methods on four well-established knowledge graph completion benchmarks. © 2022 proceedings - international conference on Computational Linguistics, COLING. Extended reality (XR) collaboration enables collaboration between physical and virtual spaces. Recent XR collaboration studies have focused on sharing and understanding the overall situation of the objects of interest (OOIs) and its surrounding ambient objects (AOs) rather than simply recognizing the existence of OOI. the sharing of the overall situation is achieved using three-dimensional (3d) models that replicate objects existing in the physical workspace. there are two approaches for creating the models: pre-reconstruction and real-time reconstruction. the pre-reconstruction approach takes considerable time to create polygon meshes precisely, and the real-time reconstruction approach requires a considerable time to install numerous sensors to perform accurate 3d scanning. In addition, these approaches are difficult to be used on the collaboration in a location beyond the reconstructed space, making them impractical to an actual XR collaboration. the approach proposed in this study separates the objects that form the physical workspace into OOI and AO, models only the OOI as a polygon mesh in advance, and reconstructs the AO into a point cloud using light detection and ranging technology for collaboration. the reconstructed point cloud is shared with remote collaborators through webRTC, a web-based peer-to-peer networking technology with low latency. Each remote collaborator collects the delivered point cloud to form a virtual space, so that they can intuitively understand the situation at a local site. Nowadays, 3d modeling and virtual reality technology has become a new method to enhance the digitization level in nuclear power engineering field. Reactor pressure vessel head handling, refueling and main equipment installation are the important process flows in nuclear power plant. Traditional measures without digitization and visualization, which need much more experience and technical skills to conduct the staffs on-site construction work. In that case, there are more risks when they do some complicated operations especially the new ones they never know before. this paper presents a technical method to design an immersive virtual environment, which contains the whole 3d model data of the nuclear island buildings in nuclear power plant to simulate the key processing flows. Meanwhile, the paper develops an interactive VR software system to help training workers about their on-site works in a virtual way before they solve on-site problems. On the other hand, another application of this paper's work is design verification of the process flows themselves, so that the simulation results can tell designer what and where is the optimizing goal. the achievements of this paper have already been applied in the actual HPR1000 nuclear power project of CGN, and bring considerable efficiency return in construction field. Upper limb segmentation in egocentric vision is a challenging and nearly unexplored task that extends the well-known hand localization problem and can be crucial for a realistic representation of users' limbs in immersive and interactive environments, such as VR/MR applications designed for web browsers that are a general-purpose solution suitable for any device. Existing hand and arm segmentation approaches require a large amount of well-annotated data. then different annotation techniques were designed, and several datasets were created. Such datasets are often limited to synthetic and semi-synthetic data that do not include the whole limb and differ significantly from real data, leading to poor performance in many realistic cases. To overcome the limitations of previous methods and the challenges inherent in both egocentric vision and segmentation, we trained several segmentation networks based on the state-of-the-art deepLabv3+ model, collecting a large-scale comprehensive dataset. It consists of 46 thousand real-life and well-labeled RGB images with a great variety of skin colors, clothes, occlusions, and lighting conditions. In particular, we carefully selected the best data from existing datasets and added our EgoCam dataset, which includes new images with accurate labels. Finally, we extensively evaluated the trained networks in unconstrained real-world environments to find the best model configuration for this task, achieving promising and remarkable results in diverse scenarios. the code, the collected egocentric upper limb segmentation dataset, and a video demo of our work will be available on the project page(1).

A three-dimensional (3d) computational fluid dynamics (CFd) investigation of steam flow distribution of a cross-flow X-type steam superheater in a small modular reactor (SMR) has been carried out, and different flow distributors have been compared. As a non-baffle shell and tube heat exchanger, the secondary steam flow of the superheater flows across the tube bundles and is superheated in the shell side. the flow distributor is arranged between the shell side inlet and the tube bundles, devices compared are the impingement plate and orifice plate. the diameter and the geometry distribution of the holes on the orifice plate have also been researched. the software used is ANSYS FLUENT, applying standard k-epsilon turbulence flow model. distribution of velocity and pressure drop of the shell-side steam is obtained. As the analysis of the flow-field distribution contributes to optimizing the heat exchange performance, the analysis solutions can provide helpful information for the superheater design. © 2022 by ASME.

Plate type fuel element is widely used in integral and test reactor cores with the advantages of higher power density, deeper fuel burnup and more compact structure. In the semi-closed narrow gap rectangular channel, physics-structure coupling effect under low pressure condition will lead to very complex coolant flow and heat transfer phenomena. Knowledges of the bubble movement and deformation regime are important for studying the mechanism of gas–liquid two-phase flow. In this work, a visual experimental investigation was carried out for the bubble rising characteristics and bubble three-dimensional(3d) reconstruction in a rectangular channel. the process of the bubbles motion was observed by two vertically placed high-speed cameras. By controlling the power of the oxygen pump and the aperture of the air outlet respectively, the rate of bubble formation can be controlled, which eliminated the effects of bubble-to-bubble interactions by increasing the distance between the bubbles. Based on the extracted parameters obtained by digital image processing and assumption that each cross section along the height of bubble to be an ellipse, a new method for reconstructing bubble shape was proposed, using 3d modeling method which can more closely simulates objects to connect bubble elliptic cross sections smoothly under the condition that the cross sections of bubble were not changed as much as possible. then the bubble shape and trajectory were reconstructed. the results showed that the 3d trajectory of bubble was oscillating and the reconstructed bubble shape not only conformed to the projected contour but also satisfied the effect of surface tension which lead to smooth shape of the bubbles in any time. the radiation field measurement and surveying play important roles in optimizing and planning operation work in the radioactive area. In this work, a 3-d radiation field reconstruction method is applied to reconstruct a 3-d radiation field of a facility with two radioactive drums and a shielding, not limited to the existing methods under two-dimensional grids. A numerical scheme of the method is introduced. Monte Carlo simulation of the gamma radiation field was performed to be an original field so that the reconstruction results can be verified. Random and regular sampling ways are taken into consideration while the sampling rates are kept at 4.12%. Quantitative evaluation of the results evaluates MSE (mean relative error) and MRE (mean squared error), MRE is kept at less than 4%, which shows a good reconstruction accuracy of the method in almost all 3d space. the work in this paper has good reference value for applications such as radiation field detection, inversion, and reconstruction, operations under radioactive environments like nuclear waste decommissioning, and nuclear power radiation modeling. © 2022 by ASME.
