One of the seventeen goals of sustainable development is responsible consumption and production. Lighting is one of the major consumers of electricity. Smart lighting can enhance energy efficiency and cut down on the wastage of electric energy. One such way to smart lighting is to use the smart lighting app to control switching actions with ease. Moreover, the adoption of these apps is determined by user satisfaction. Thus, the smart lighting app ‘Philips Hue’ was chosen to investigate user satisfaction with such an app. Using Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), this study proposes nine e-satisfaction determinants of smart lightning apps. The dominance analysis showed update, device connection, and smart hue experiences are major determinants of user satisfaction with the smart lightning app. Smart hue experience is rated 5 based on correspondence analysis, whereas update and device connection are rated 1.

Fault tolerant computing has become an important need in computer hardware design and software development to achieve high computing reliability and availability. The ‘C’ programming language was developed for systems programming. Hence it implied many fault tolerance capabilities to develop high reliable and available programs related to a computer system. This paper provides a case study that analyzes fault models for ‘C’ programs. The case analysis presents the effects of faults in programs written in ‘C’ language. The change in program state is highlighted. The manifested errors that may lead to software failure are analyzed. Each type of those faults is described in terms of how it appears syntactically in source programs as well as how it causes an error. Fault models can help designers and developers to identify the locations in a program where such faults are likely to affect the program. The fault models are tended to be a useful foundation for fault diagnosis, mutation testing, program inspections, and verification of programs. Examples are analyzed that show the need for those model’s suitability. The paper ends with a conclusion that gives guide lines for C programmers to develop fault tolerant programs.

This paper aims to tune the voltage controller of DC-DC buck converter system using genetic algorithm (GA) with different objective functions. The DC-DC buck converter system is supplied with constant voltage from renewable energy source. The objective functions applied to tune the voltage controller are integral square error (ISE), integral absolute error (IAE), integral time absolute error (ITAE), integral time square error (ITSE) and integral square time error (ISTE). The DC-DC buck converter system is tested through nonlinear model implemented in Matlab/Simulink. The obtained results of the nonlinear model and the results of the mathematical representation (model) of the system are compared. All objective functions give optimum values of controller gains. However, obtained results revealed that ITAE is the best objective function compared with the other objective functions. It provides the best overall results.
