Quick response (QR) code is a convenient product for mobile phone user. People can use the Smartphone camera to capture the code, and then decode it through dedicated reader application. Usually the code stands for text, contact information, or a web hyperlink. Users scan the image of QR code to display information or open a website page in the phone's browser. QR codes appear everywhere on posters, publicity flyers, TV advertisements, and even business cards. Since QR code looks like random noise, its existence may hurt the picture of commodities. In this paper, we propose a data embedding scheme to camouflage the existence of QR code. Experimental results showed that the proposed scheme hides the QR code successfully. Moreover, the quality of stego-images is nearly to 30 dB. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht.

The author of the present paper proposes a constructive version, selected on the grounds of dynamic and organological equations, which enables an optimum design and operation of the (MO Sil) orientation module that possesses two degrees of freedom, to which the prehension device is attached, in the mechanical structure of the TRR-type serial modular industrial robot. This paper aims at highlighting the dynamic modelling of the mechanical structure of the TRR-type robot by using Lagrangian formalism, with aspects regarding the MO Sil module's organological construction as well as with the 3D modelling of the orientation module in the mechanical structure of the robotic arm. Another important issue that this paper deals with is the mathematicalorganological algorithm used for the selection of the servomotors actuating the orientation movable system in the mechanical structure of the robot. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Dynamic behaviors of World Wide Web is one of the most important characteristics that challenge search engine administrators to manipulate their search collection. Web content and links are changed each day to provide up-to-date information. In addition, a fresh web page, like new news article, is often more interesting to web users than a stale one. Thus, an analysis of temporal activities of the Web can contribute to improve better search and result ranking. In this paper, we propose a web personalized link-based ranking scheme that incorporates temporal information extracted from historical page activities. We first quantify page modifications over time and design a time-proximity model used in calculating inverse propagation scores of web pages. These scores are then used as a bias of personalized PageRank for page authority assessment. We conduct the experiments on a real-world web collection gathered from the Internet Archive. The results show that our approach improves upon PageRank in ranking of search results with respect to human users' preference. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht.

Cells construct is made by spheroid-culturing the cells and collecting the spheroids. The spheroids are manufactured by dispensing cell turbid liquid into a special multiwell plate. If there is a difference in the number of cells when dispensing the cells turbid liquid, spheroids in different sizes are generated. Moreover, spheroids are not generated if the number of cells is extremely small, and if large, spheroids in distorted shapes are generated. Therefore, this study was aimed to develop a system that generates similar spheroids. In result, all the spheroids generated using developed system came in a pure spherical shape, and generation of spheroids is confirmed on all the wells. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht.

Electrical Load simulator (ELS) is an important aerodynamics forces/torque loading device which is used for qualification of flight actuation system in ground based experiments. This paper focuses on Backstepping control design with fuzzy logic compensator for extra torque disturbance. To reduce number of fuzzy rules and processing time LuGre model based friction compensation scheme is proposed. Practically fuzzy logic compensation may induce approximation error. A novel PI type tracking performance controller is proposed to compensate tracking error due to parametric uncertainty in the ELS system and LuGre friction model. The tracking performance controller is tuned online based on saturation function based adaptive law derived from the error dynamics between state predictor and actual plant to eliminate chattering from control signal. The validity of control scheme is verified using numerical simulations for desired tracking performance. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

This paper presents a new simulation program, called ONIM, for a feedback (i.e., closed-loop, PI) control system. ONIM is a graphical design tool like Simulink in MATLAB, which allows a user to simulate a feedback control system with real-time response. The outputs from ONIM can be provided both in numerical and graphical forms. In this paper, the software modules are developed in ONIM for tuning PI controllers, and simulating the digital filters for a separately-excited DC motor drive system. Simulation results obtained by ONIM are compared with the results obtained by MATLAB/Simulink. In view of using only the intensity information of retroreflection light and poor capacity of anti-interference in laser short-range detection, this paper presents a short-range detection method based on laser polarization properties of targets, designs the polarization detection model and constructs the polarization detection system. Through the analysis and the comparison of data which is obtained from the polarization characteristic and intensity characteristic experiments of five different targets, the conclusion that the detection method based on the laser polarization characteristics can effectively distinguish target is achieved. Meanwhile, the analysis of detection model in this paper can also provide certain theory significance for further research on polarization detection. © (2013)Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Recently, Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) have an increased interest in applications for covering rural areas due to the possibility of usage of low-cost and high-performance mobile terminals, without having to depend on the network infrastructure. Because the terminals are mobile, the routes change dynamically, so routing algorithms are very important for operation of MANETs. In this paper, we investigate the performance of Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol with ETX-ff, for different scenarios in indoor and outdoor environment considering throughput and packetloss metrics. We design and implement two experimental scenarios in our academic environment and compare their performance behaviour for different HELLO packets interval of OLSR protocol. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht.

The principal aim was the construction of a face recognition system in order to be implemented in the service robot "Donaxi", delimited by the "Who is who" test which is part of the RoboCup's tests set, using an evolutionary development strategy of triple iterations. A two phase hybrid algorithm was developed, the first phase aim was the face detection using the Haar classifiers for face search in an image and the second phase is based on a decision tree whereby the faces characteristics were evaluated by the comparison techniques of phase correlation and histogram comparison. The needed characteristics were identified in order to develop this work as a software engineering project which allowed the algorithm construction and implementation through an evolutionary approach and a personal development process. The evolutionary strategy allowed the prototyping development with functionality and the tracking of the final system construction. A three iterations total-was realized-during which the-needed metrics were registered (time, defects and sizes). The final analysis of results (algorithm and methods) allowed concluding and visualizing the employment advantages of a software engineering formal technique for research and robotics projects realization when improving estimations and software production quality.

Due to the prevalence of e-learning and information technology, a wide choice of various learning styles is offered. So we might have multiple learning paths for a teaching material. However, learners differ from one another in their information literacy and cognitive load. These will influence the learning achievements greatly. Learners lacking information literacy are probably not able to determine their leaning paths easily. For example, obligatory courses, precedence relationship, time limit, and leaning effect should be taken into account. In light of these observations, we propose a genetic algorithm for determining leaning paths with many topics and a branch-and-bound algorithm for providing optimal learning paths of few learning topics. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht.
