Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is a novel evolutionary algorithm which has a better convergence rate and computation precision compared with other evolutionary algorithms. From the perspective of optimization, the self-tuning of PID controller parameters is to find the best global optimum value in the solution space of Kp,Ki,Kd. In this paper an optimal design of PID controller based on particle swarm optimization approach for temperature control in HVAC is presented. The mathematical model of a HVAC system had been approximate near the operating point for the PSO algorithm to adjust PID parameters for the minimum integrated absolute error (IAE) condition. The results show that the adjustment of PID parameters has converted into the optimal point and the good control response based on the optimal values by the PSO technique.

In the process of edge detection based on mathematical morphology, different shapes and different scales structure elements have different roles in filtering noise and keeping edge details. The paper proposes an adaptive edge detection algorithm based on multi-shape and multi-scale structure elements, uses different directions and sizes structure elements to extract image edge, determines weight coefficients by calculating VAR adaptively according to the inverse proportion principle for image difference and weight coefficient, fuses the edges which are detected by multi-shape and multi-scale structure elements. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm inhibits noise effectively, improves the detection accuracy, possesses encouraging robustness when applied to different images, in comparison with several classical edge detection algorithm.

Based on the white noise filtration method, the time domain model of stochastic road irregularities was established including the model of multipoint time-delay correlative excitation from the same track and the model of space-coherance excitation from the bilateral tracks of a vehicle on the road. Further the development was made from the time domain model of one dimensional road irregularities to two-dimensional road surface and the simulation realization completed in MATLAB environment. The case studies demonstrated that the digital road surface characteristics simulated by white noise filtration was consistent with that of a standard grade road surface, thus formed virtual road surface which provided digital road environment efficiently and conveniently for virtual prototyping (VP) and virtual proving ground (VPG) of vehicles.

In this study, the fluidized bed evaporator of natural circulation with different the holdup of solid particle are experimental studied. The holdup of solid particle, pressure fluctuation signals and heat flux are measured. Analyses of chaotic time series on pressure fluctuation signals are conducted to determine the relationship between chaotic characterizations parameter. The values of Kolmogorov entropy are positive and finite, and the values of correlation dimension are from 1.0 to 2.2. The analysis results indicate that the physical parameter fluctuations of the system with the FBENC are chaotic. In the estimations of chaotic invariants including correlation dimension, Kolmogorov entropy and Lyapunov exponent at the same given operation condition, the multi-value phenomena are found. The phenomenon reflects the multi-scale behavior occurred in such multi-phase flow boiling systems.

Considering the complex influencing factors exerting on main bearing (MB) lubrication for diesel engine, according to elastohydrodynamic lubrication model of dynamically loaded bearing, coupling simulations between multi-body dynamics and elastohydrodynamics were conducted to diesel engine main bearing by employing AVL Excite software. Bearing width, oil supply pressure, oil temperature, oil type, radial clearance, groove direction in shell and bore position in journal were chosen precisely as key influencing factors under rated working condition, and minimum oil film thickness (MOFT) was chosen as optimization objective. Based on orthogonal design method, the optimal parameters combination was determined. Simulation was conducted to verify the combination, and the results show that minimum oil film thickness in one working cycle increased by 9.1%∼32.1% and tended to smooth fluctuations.
