Welcome to the proceedings of GCC2004 and the city of Wuhan. Grid computing has become a mainstream research area in computer science and the GCC conference has become one of the premier forums for presentation of new and exciting research in all aspectsofgridandcooperativecomputing. Theprogramcommitteeispleasedtopresent the proceedings of the 3rdinternationalconference on Grid and Cooperative Comp- ing (GCC2004), which comprises a collection of excellent technical papers, posters, workshops, and keynote speeches. The papers accepted cover a wide range of exciting topics, including resource grid and service grid, information grid and knowledge grid, grid monitoring, managementand organizationtools, grid portal, grid service, Web s- vices and their QoS, service orchestration, grid middleware and toolkits, software glue technologies, grid security, innovative grid applications, advanced resource reservation andscheduling,performanceevaluationandmodeling,computer-supportedcooperative work, P2P computing, automatic computing, and meta-information management. The conference continues to grow and this year a record total of 581 manuscripts (including workshop submissions) were submitted for consideration. Expecting this growth, the size of the program committee was increased from 50 members for GCC 2003 for 70 in GCC 2004. Relevant differences from previous editions of the conf- ence: it is worth mentioning a signi?cant increase in the number of papers submitted by authors from outside China; and the acceptance rate was much lower than for p- vious GCC conferences. From the 427 papers submitted to the main conference, the program committee selected only 96 regular papers for oral presentation and 62 short papers for poster presentation in the program.

This two volume set LNCS 7016 and LNCS 7017 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 11th internationalconference on Algorithms and Architectures for parallel Processing, ICA3PP 2011, held in Melbourne, Australia, in October 2011. The first volume presents 24 revised regular papers and 17 revised short papers together with the abstract of the keynote lecture - all carefully reviewed and selected from 85 initial submissions. The papers cover the many dimensions of parallel algorithms and architectures, encompassing fundamental theoretical approaches, practical experimental results, and commercial components and systems and focus on two broad areas of parallel and distributed computing, i.e., architectures, algorithms and networks, and systems and applications.

Context-awareness is one of the drivers of the ubiquitous computing paradigm. Well-designed context modeling and context retrieval approaches are key p- requisites in any context-aware system. Location is one of the primary aspects of all major context models — together with time, identity and activity. From the technical side, sensing, fusing and distributing location and other context information is as important as providing context-awareness to applications and services in pervasive systems. Thematerialsummarizedinthisvolumewasselectedforthe1stinternational Workshop on Location- and Context-Awareness (LoCA 2005) held in coope- tion with the 3rdinternationalconference on Pervasive Computing 2005. The workshop was organized by the Institute of Communications and Navigation of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Oberpfa?enhofen, and the Mobile and distributedsystems Group of the University of Munich. During the workshop, novel positioning algorithms and location sensing te- niques were discussed, comprising not only enhancements of singular systems, like positioning in GSM or WLAN, but also hybrid technologies, such as the integration of global satellite systems with inertial positioning. Furthermore, - provements in sensor technology, as well as the integration and fusion of sensors, were addressed both on a theoretical and on an implementation level. Personal and con?dential data, such as location data of users, have p- found implications for personal information privacy. Thus privacy protection, privacy-oriented location-aware systems, and how privacy a?ects the feasibility and usefulness of systems were also addressed in the workshop.

Welcome to the proceedings of the 2007 IFIP internationalconference on Network and parallel Computing (NPC 2007) held in Dalian, China. NPC has been a premier conference that has brought together researchers and pr- titioners from academia, industry and governments around the world to advance the theories and technologies of network and parallel computing. The goal of NPC is to establish an international forum for researchers and practitioners to present their - cellent ideas and experiences in all system fields of network and parallel computing. The main focus of NPC 2007 was on the most critical areas of network and parallel computing: network applications, network technologies, network and parallel arc- tectures, and parallel and distributed software. In total, the conference received more than 600 papers from researchers and prac- tioners from over 20 countries and areas. Each paper was reviewed by at least three internationally renowned referees and selected based on its originality, significance, correctness, relevance, and clarity of presentation. Among the high-quality subm- sions, only 53 regular papers were accepted by the conference. All of the selected conference papers are included in the conferenceproceedings. After the conference, some high-quality papers will be recommended to be published in a special issue of several international journals.
